Celebrating #NationalLibraryWeek & honoring all librarians in this brave new world of having to defend the right to read. Thomas Hughes Free Public Library pic is from yesterday's visit to Rugby, TN. The #library opened in 1882 with over 5000 donated books. The utopian community didn't succeed, but the library & 7000 books remain for visitors to peruse & appreciate. A few views to add to one from @plemmdog #litsylibrarians #litsylibrarian

The new library building where I work opened to the public on Monday morning (this photo taken 36 hours earlier). Casually talked about for 25 years, seriously talked about for 15 years, actively created for the last 4 years. I'm so happy and so tired. #LitsyLibrarians

Does anyone know how to get a book added to the Litsy library? It's an Audible Original, it called A Terribly Private Club by Ashley Sands. I'm reading/listening to it now but I can not tag it so that is bumming me out. It's pretty good so far. #litsylibrarians #addbook

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Shake your phone and then you will get a pop up. 2y
IndoorDame I know if you can‘t find what you‘re looking for there‘s a tap here to suggest a book link at the bottom of the search page where you can add all the info, but it has to be reviewed by someone so it won‘t be added to the database right away 2y
dabbe @IndoorDame Correct. I just added a book a few days ago. It took a day after I entered the info and they accepted it. 2y

For the #litsylibrarians and library workers everywhere. You‘ve ALL pushed this book truck!

LibrarianRyan Oh my yes. My library has old wooden book strucks from the last building. We have a ton of them and use them rarely now, but it always suprises me how many of the staff perfer the old wooden ones that don't move well to the nice metal ones. 4y
emtobiasz One of the libraries where I worked had a behemoth we used to empty the outdoor book drop. It was known as CARTZILLA. 4y

“While she felt certain the librarians would put up a fight (as a group, they were mostly first amendment badasses), a warrant to search the computer would take maybe an hour, then a tech would need five seconds to find Andi‘s search history.”
I want that on a plaque on my desk when I become a librarian—“First Amendment Badass”! ❤️❤️

I‘m a little late sharing my March update for the #ReadWithMrBook challenge, but here it is. ♥️

Since the local libraries are closed, I was hoping some of the #LitsyLibrarians can recommend some books to me for the April prompt. If you‘re a librarian or know a Litsy librarian, please tag them ♥️

BookwormAHN I also have no idea about what to do for this month's challenge. 5y
LibrarianRyan Let‘s see, especially since I know you do audiobooks I suggest 20,000 leagues under the sea. It‘s up for free right now. It‘s a bit slow and has boring spots but I loved it. Then there is the Palace of lost memory series on audiobook on Hoopla. 5y
MrBook @Clwojick @BookwormAHN , what are you in the mood for? 5y
See All 12 Comments
BookwormAHN @MrBook fantasy or at least some definite escapism. 5y
Clwojick @MrBook I‘m always down for a mystery/suspense,humour, bios or contemporary fiction. 5y
Clwojick @LibrarianRyan thanks for taking audiobooks into consideration ♥️ My library doesn‘t use Hoopla or Libby anymore, but I‘ll check CloudLibrary to see if they have either of those. Thanks! 5y
nitalibrarian Have you read A Madness of Sunshine by Nalini Singh? Or Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone? 5y
MrBook @BookwormAHN , I know access is an issue right now, ugh. How about “Gods of Jade and Shadow” or “Washington Black”? Escapism, hmmm, how about a Blake Crouch like “Dark Matter” or “Recursion”? 5y
MrBook @Clwojick Hmm, mystery/suspense, “The Shadow of the Wind”. Humor, “The Rosie Project” (do audio if possible, hilarious!) or “The Sisters Brothers” or “A Million Ways To Die in the West”. Bios: Anthony Everitt‘s “Cicero”, or “Unbroken” (both excellent on audio!). Contemp fic: “The Island of Sea Women”, “Circe”, or “The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August”. Also, “A Short Stay in Hell” on audio is mind-blowing. (edited) 5y
BookwormAHN @MrBook I loved Dark Matter so I think I'll give Recursion a shot. Thanks. 5y
Kimberlone You are a book journaling queen! 5y

Librarybelle I have an exhibits only pass for Saturday 6y
melissanorr Me too @Librarybelle Let me know if you want to meet up. 6y
Librarybelle I think that would be awesome! I‘m traveling with colleagues, and we‘re finalizing or schedule of what vendors to visit, when we‘re arriving and whatnot. Once I have a better timeframe for the day, I‘ll let you know. If you‘d like, we could communicate through email...my email is my Litsy username at gmail DOT com. 6y

Have you heard of a book trailer? Like a movie trailer (preview), but for books! Shout out to clever #librarians (ahem @mrbook) & #libraries. Mooresville Public Library, Indiana, put together this very cool way to showcase books. It's launch day today for Woman 99. You have to watch this. So dang clever! https://youtu.be/MtZTkt986n0

DivineDiana Yes! Barnes and Noble has them on their website. And not sure how I found it, but I just watched one for the book that I am reading, The Alice Network today! 😲 6y
lynneamch How neat @DivineDiana ! I really enjoyed the Alice Network. Greer and Kate Quinn are doing an event together tomorrow in Maryland for Kate's new book 6y
DivineDiana I so wish I could be there! 6y
Talewaggingreads Book Trailers are brilliant! Why didn't I think of that when I was teaching? 🤦‍♀️🎥🎬📚🤦‍♀️ 6y
