O-oh! Popped into the library at lunchtime for a quick break. Didn‘t need any books as I already have 7 on loan, but whoever goes into a library and comes out empty handed?!

I‘ve been wanting to read the tagged book for ages.

The pink book is Tove Ditlevsen ‘Childhood‘ for #Denmark #readingeurope2020.

I also chose one about a woman rowing down the Nile alone and one about a local eccentric family, both for #mummysquirrel.

TrishB Good choices 👍🏻 2w

Had to pop to the Leeds Library today (first day back at work so it was a treat for me...!). Plus #mummysquirrel has shingles so I chose books she would like too and we can share 😁

The tagged book is a non-fiction account of when Moss lived in Iceland. I might read this for #readingeurope2020 but already have Burial Rites on my list for #iceland.

The Murphy is on my list for Montenegro and Molly & Me is about a detective dog.... 🐕 😁

Jee_HookedOnBookz Happy New Year, Helen! Have a great day at work! 4w
Tamra Burial Rites is very good! 4w

Ruthiella Hope your mom feels better soon! 4w
RachelO Get well soon MummySquirrel! I did enjoy Names for the Sea, but probably not as much as Moss‘s novels. Afraid I haven‘t read Burial Rites, so that‘s no help at all! 4w
squirrelbrain Thanks @Leftcoastzen @Ruthiella @RachelO - I‘ll pass on your good wishes... 4w
squirrelbrain Everyone raves about Burial Rites @Tamra @rachelo, which is why I‘m not sure I want to usurp it from my list.... 4w
squirrelbrain Thanks @Jee_HookedOnBookz - Happy New Year to you too! 4w
TrishB Hope your mum is on the mend soon. I‘ve had shingles ☹️ and Burial Rites is great 👍🏻 4w
squirrelbrain @TrishB - I might have to read two #iceland books.... I‘ll see what my Mum thinks of the Moss before I decide whether to read it now or not.... 4w
BookwormM Poor mummy squirrel wishing her a speedy recovery 4w
squirrelbrain Thanks @BookwormM ! 👍😘 4w
Caroline2 Oh no, I hope your mum feels better soon! (I loved Burial Rites. 👍) 3w

Look at me, feeling all smugalicious, having identified *all* of my books for #readingeurope2020!

14 I already own, 24 from the library, 1 from #mummysquirrel and 12 to buy. 30 fiction and 21 NF.

Would anyone by interested in sharing books by post? For example, the tagged book is one I need to buy but happy to send it around after I‘ve read it. (I‘ll let you decide if you use it for all seven countries!😁) Happy to send outside of the UK too.

jenniferw88 Damn! Now I want to do this! 😂😂😂 I ❤ spreadsheets! Off to laptop I go... 2mo

One off #mummysquirrel‘s shelves, about growing up in a family where #moneystootighttomention....

Cinfhen Mummy Squirrel has a treasure trove of fabulous books ❤️ 5mo
Cinfhen But this one sounds heartbreaking 5mo
arlenefinnigan Sounds like something my mum would like. Especially if the Catholic Herald are recommending it 😉 5mo
squirrelbrain She only keeps books that she likes @arlenefinnigan @Cinfhen and she‘s re-read this one, so it must be good! 5mo

Pat Stewart was a dancer who became an icon after this picture was snapped of her on Blackpool seafront.

This is her memoir and is taken from #mummysquirrel‘s bookshelves - Pat went to the same school as my Mum, although she was there at the same time as my Mum‘s much older sisters, so my Mum didn‘t actually know her.

arlenefinnigan Excellent pick 👍 5mo
Cinfhen That cover is AWESOME 5mo
marleed I love that cover so much! 5mo

Although I loved Blind Date back in the day, Cilla wasn‘t my cup of tea, I‘m afraid, but she certainly was an entertainer!

From #mummysquirrel‘s bookshelves... 😁🐿

TheEllieMo She did have a fabulous voice; Anyone Who Had A Heart is a great song 5mo
Susannah @TheEllieMo I love “Anyone Who Had a Heart”—all the versions: Cilla, Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield. 😍 5mo

How‘s that for a rather different book title?!

I borrowed this from the library for #mummysquirrel who loves books about women travellers. I thought I‘d try it myself first and actually really enjoyed it!

Kate Marsden was a nurse who travelled to leper colonies in Siberia in 1890 - 1892, with the patronage of Queen Victoria and the Tsarina of Russia. As you can imagine, her journey was long and incredibly arduous.

A really interesting read.

MrBook Wow! 5mo
Crazeedi This sounds extremely interesting! I'm going to have to look for it 5mo
Thndrstd I‘m intrigued 5mo

Did I need any more books? Of course I didn‘t!

But it‘s all for charity so I‘m not just thinking of myself, you see....

Actually, the top one is for #mummysquirrel and the next two are for #MiLsquirrel, so only 5 are mine...?

Not bad for a total of Qe...

Cathythoughts Very noble of you ... it‘s a win-win situation 😘 6mo
britt_brooke Nice haul! 6mo
julesG Wow! And just £6? My haul, from Oxfam (which only has a tiny book shelf but really good quality books), was €25. I don't mind, good cause and all, but I truly miss charity shops like in the UK. 6mo

squirrelbrain Yes, @julesg this is the shop where they used to be 25p each! Then they went up to 50p, now they‘re Q9 or two for Q9.50.... 6mo
ONH The World According to Garp is one of my all-time fav books. Hope you enjoy!! 6mo
Birdsong28 Wow!! The Endless Beach is the second in a trilogy starting with the tagged book just wanted to let you know I wouldn't want you to have half the story!! (If you haven't read it already) 😘📚📖 6mo
squirrelbrain Thanks @Birdsong28 - this one was for my MiL so I‘ll let her know.... 6mo
squirrelbrain @olivianixonhemelt - I‘m looking forward to it. I read it as a teenager but really don‘t remember it all.... 6mo
Susannah I‘m nearly halfway through The World According to Garp right now. I‘m grappling with it a bit but definitely glad to finally be reading it.... Terrific haul! (edited) 6mo

With unabashed honesty, Lara Prior-Palmer shares her wild ride that earned her the title of both youngest & first female to win the Mongolian Derby ( a 10 day endurance horse race across Mongolia).
I almost wish I wasn‘t aware of the outcome because she was truly the underdog. I found her shameless bravado delightful & her drive to just pass/ beat the smug US rider Devan Horn amusing. At times her immaturity shows but that‘s part of her appeal.

squirrelbrain Stacked (I think #mummysquirrel would love this one! 😁) 7mo
Suet624 Reading now. 6mo
Cinfhen What do u think so far @Suet624 ??? 6mo
