First finish of #10BeforeTheEnd for me is this, the second in the Olga Pushkin Mysteries series. I like Olga as a character, and enjoyed this gentlest unfolding murder mystery, but, oh, the cliffhanger ending 😱

I have participated in 46 of these activities. Here are a few worth noting.
1. Hayride - no murder, but I think they‘re overrated
2. S‘mores - definitely not overrated
3. Tailgating at a football game - my husband‘s cousins all went to Penn State and have tailgating down to a science

This was... okay? I was definitely curious about the mystery, but not so totally absorbed that I couldn't have lived without finding the answer. Still, I felt really meh today and this kept me interested enough to read about half of it in one go, so I think I'm just generally muted in affect today and I probably liked it.

Either way, that was my #DoubleSpin.

Whisper of Death | Darcy Burke

Pickpick

4 Stars • In A Whisper of Death (Raven & Wren #1) by Darcy Burke, set in 1868 London, Hadrian Becket, Earl of Ravenhurst, gains psychometric powers after surviving a stabbing. He teams up with sharp-witted private investigator Matilda "Tilda" Wren to solve his attack and her cousin‘s suspicious death. ⬇️

suvata Their investigation uncovers linked crimes, missing funds, and family secrets, with a cunning villain behind it all. Blending Victorian mystery, paranormal elements, and subtle romance, the novel builds slowly but delivers a gripping resolution, setting up the Raven & Wren series.

Mehso-so

Just okay. The mystery was fine, but the characters were all 2-dimensional tropes. So much so, that I actually wondered if it was intentional, kind of like a spoof of a bad movie.

This was my #ThematicCozies choice for the August prompt #Travel .
