I thought the artwork and story boards were beautifully done. It was so eerie to see how intuitive Octavia But.er was regarding the “future” (2024) of the world, specifically the United States. So glad I was able to borrow via #Hoopla.

This is the first book that I‘ve read by #octaviabutler and it is amazing!

Having Dana as the main character and seeing what is happening through her perspective is what makes this story interesting.

It‘s a good story and as relevant now as ever. The drawings are rich and the adapted story was easy to follow. Sort of like watching a movie, graphic novels are. This was maybe my 3rd.

I related much more with Lauren's father who is in his 50s. I barely recall him as a character when I read this 20+ years ago. That was an indicator of my aging if anything is!

This collection is a necessary and meaningful recognition of Octavia Butler's brilliance as an author. Rereading the 2 novels was a pleasure and I got different things out of them here at midlife vs as a youngish adult. The jewels in this Butler collection are her own reflections on the short stories. The commentary in her own voice is the best reason to pick up this anthology. Truly an author we lost too soon. #NetGalley #ARC #octaviabutler
