The next books on my list! Hopefully I can go to Berlin next week, to my favourite bookstore in Germany. Otherwise I‘ll end up without reading material 😱.

Cyril Avery is not a real Avery and he never will be. then who is he? Boyne's story is a sweeping, heartfelt saga of one man's life from the 1940's to today and told through the eyes of Cyril Avery. close relationship with Julian Woodbead and will spend a lifetime coming to know himself. I found this book to be entertaining, funny and clever. recommend this book to those who love to read about Ireland. look forward to reading more by Boyne.

Reviewsbylola This was my gateway Boyne. Such a good book. 6y

😍❤️😍❤️ LOVE THIS BOOK❤️😍❤️😍

This book - wow! Incredible characters and a smart, funny, yet heartbreaking story. What‘s not to love?? This author‘s writing reminds me of John Irving‘s earlier works, which makes sense considering he dedicated the book to Irving. I highly recommend this to literary fiction fans!

A day and a half into #24b4Monday and once again my reading totals are sadly low. 😩
Only finished this one so far and also trying to finish up Trever Noah‘s Born A Crime in audio.
The Boyne was a bit predictable, but I just couldn‘t stop reading it. He develops his characters so well and tells an entertaining story to boot. He‘s becoming one of my favorite authors after only 3 books. Yay! 😄

erzascarletbookgasm That‘s great! About the tagged book, I mean, and this cover is much better than the other one I‘ve seen. 6y
RebelReader @ezrascarletbookgasm That‘s a pic off the internet, the ARC copy is plain black and white. This cover is much more appropriate to the story. 6y
RebelReader I also want to point out that this book does raise questions about artistic ownership and intellectual property. 6y

While it took me a few chapters to totally embrace this book, it's amazing. Working in 7-year increments, its portrayal of the course of Cyril's life is sad and lovely, and it resists easy sentimentality. The structure allows some gasp-inducing cliffhangers, and the unveiling of Ireland, in all its beauty and tragedy, is illuminating.
