3.5 🌟 - By far my favorite part of this story was it‘s heroine. She is a strong mamma bear protecting her cubs; resourceful, quick thinker. Though you don‘t witness her transformation from weak to strong, you appreciate and lament who she has been forced to become. I question her decisions in terms of who she trusts but overall loved her. Something was off in the pacing, I felt the book was a touch too long but a solid start to the trilogy.

4.5 🌟- I‘m not going to lie...I saw the twists a mile away and if you‘ve read a lot of books like this, so will you. This did not deter me from compulsively reading this. Loved the language, the references, the unreliable narrator. It read like a movie. Recommended vacation read for sure! #BOTM

4.5 🌟 - I really enjoyed this one, surprising since I did not like the Pink Carnation series also written by Willig. I understand the criticisms that the pacing is slow but it worked for me as a slow burn gothic mystery. I loved the transition points between past and present, which were really well done, and banter between Janie and Burke was fantastic. Great #BOTM pick!

4.5 🌟- I loved this book. Moving, emotional, and engrossing. Wonderful portrayal of the complicated, beautiful, and terrifying role of motherhood. I want to read the author‘s other work. #BOTM

2 🌟 - It really was work for me to finish this one. The plot was uninteresting, the relationships a little one dimensional, the fast pace was often weighed down by unnecessary explanations of the science behind how the moon colony operates; the heroine is engaging and smart. She had lots of potential but the story was...boring. #BOTM

4 🌟 - Solid YA mystery with great characters, engaging writing, and a compelling mystery to figure out.

3 🌟- I was excited to read this follow up to Crazy Rich Asians and while I didn‘t enjoy it as much as the first, it was a pleasant dip into the world of the billionaires of China and Singapore. I wish there was more story than designer labels but it was a fun read nonetheless.

3 ⭐️ - I much preferred the first book whose plot was easier to follow. This seemed to be unnecessarily complex and dare I say pointless by the time you get to the end. But I do want to read the next book to see what becomes of our jet setting, art loving, ruthless sociopath, Judith.

Re-reading this with the hope I love it as much as I did the first time!

3.5 ⭐️ - Quick read. A bit unbelievable but compulsively readable. I much prefer Ware‘s second book.

3.5 🌟 read. For some reason I thought this was going to have some element of suspense to it but it didn‘t at all. It was a well-written story about selfish people, about motherhood, and about becoming our parents. At least that was my takeaway. I enjoyed the sharp humor of some of the characters the most and Lepucki‘s beautiful sense of place. This story is set in LA and you feel the city in her writing.

Ok. This was disturbing as heck. It places you unflinchingly into the mind of a sociopath. Trigger for violence against women. But it was engrossing and kept me waiting to see how it would end for Joseph Goldberg. And now I‘m very curious about the sequel.

Creepy, disturbing, and plausible. To a degree.

He doesn‘t hate me. He hates himself. If people could handle their self-loathing,customer service would be smoother.

Loved this September pick by judge Stacey Armand. Fast, suspenseful, and wonderfully done dual perspectives that have you questioning what‘s real and what isn‘t. Fun read. #BOTM

A compulsive read that makes me want to binge watch some Hollywood classics.

I liked the voice, the comic book background of the main character, some of the southern snark, and the thematic aspiration of the story. But the writing often dragged for me and the story didn't really explore any new territory in terms of race relations and privilege in the south.

This is what I'm reading this weekend. :)

The blurb for the book really ratchets up a suspense and tension that just didn't exist for me in the actual reading. It was also very hard to care about the fate of any of the story's main characters, especially the heroine whose questionable choices are explored with very little depth or nuance.

Light, fun, and I liked the voice of the main character Lady Georgiana. The mystery was maybe a little too light for me. Not sure if I'd read another in the series but glad I tried it.

Needed something fun and light. Just started Her Royal Spyness by Rhys Bowen.

Deep dive into the mind of a sociopath. This kept me turning the pages but I felt the pacing slowed down a bit in the middle.

This was a very good series starter. I loved the setting and the relationship be Esa and Rachel. It was also deeply disturbing as if uses real testimonies from the Bosnian genocide as part of the storyline. It was haunting.
