A lot of truth in this book.
Ann Patchett, writer of great books and owner of excellent book store. This shop has such a great vibe.

The Truly Devious series is soooo fun! A mystery from the past combines with a mystery in the present and a delightful little red herring. If you haven‘t read these, you‘re very lucky because you can binge read the entire series. You should also read Maureen Johnson‘s tweets ‘cause she‘s a hoot.
Banjo prefers book Sundays to tv Sundays. My “Read” playlist - consisting primarily of Modern Jazz Quartet - may have something to do with it. She loves vibraphone.
Who has joined Nowhere Bookshop‘s Fantastic Strangelings Book Club and is looking forward to this January read? https://www.nowherebookshop.com/fantastic-strangelings-book-club ?
West Virginia has fantastic indie bookstores, and I‘m excited to read these interviews and essays. Travel inspiration in 2020.
This book asks - and answers - all the important questions about death, dead bodies, and decomposition.
The facts you sometimes stumble across when reading fiction. https://www.wvencyclopedia.org/articles/2434
🤣🤣This book is B-A-N-A-N-A-S! Unorganized, but highly readable.
While visiting the Thorne Collection (my favorite!) at the Art Institute of Chicago I learned about this fun series.
This book is covering a little bit of everything - fracking, domestic abuse, religion, Three Mile Island, drug abuse ... I like the writing and observations.
After reading Judy Chicago‘s book on Frida, I want to learn about all the women artists.
“Time for a free and open press montage!”
The Lumberjanes never fail to delight.
Some good news to kick off the new year: this amazing accomplishment was posted in a local library‘s Facebook feed. The library‘s website reports that they recently signed up the 100th participant in this program.
Pampering my feet while reading this enormous book. The reproductions of Kahlo‘s work are beautiful!
“She looked like Katharine Hepburn in Desk Set. All smart and efficient and completely unaware of how beautiful she was. Armand could watch her all day long.”
When one of your favorite book series collides with one of your favorite films. 😍📕👏❤️
I want to read the tagged book because the author wrote one of my favorite articles, published in Garden & Gun this past year https://gardenandgun.com/author/steph-post/. And, her instagram includes lots of dogs and chickens. Her writing is amazing! and that chicken‘s feet is soooo floofy but you haz to check it out at instagram.
I get to kick off the new year with Special Agent Aloysius Xingu Leng Pendergast!!
Favorite read of 2018. I borrowed it from the library. Now, I must purchase it because there is much music to research.
This past fall my significant otter took me to Hearst Castle. It is amazing! I failed to take pix in the library, but I would totally read in here which is Hearst‘s office-y space. If you ever get a chance, GO (and there‘s a nearby Elephant Seal colony). It, and Mallory O‘Meara‘s upcoming Lady From The Black Lagoon, has inspired my 2019 reading goals - celebrity / Hollywood memoirs. I‘m making plans and Peter Lorre I‘m coming for you.
Usually, I savor these books and take my time between them. But after the end of The Beautiful Mystery I just have to know what happens next. I feel as if things are going to be difficult for Gamache, but I believe he‘ll get through it ok.
Right on, Thich Nhat Hanh. ☮️💜
Thanks to my Facebook feed full of posts about CNN showing RBG, she immediately came to mind. Otherwise, by the power of Grayskull, He-Man woulda probably been the first image.
This book‘s title is accurate. And, this conversation is spot on.
I had no idea Bigfoot “erotica” was even a thing, but it‘s apparently a controversy in a VA congressional race. https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2018/07/30/bigfoot-porn-shakes-up-virgin...
There really are books out there for everyone.
Leslie Feinberg‘s novel on the complexities of gender is available for free at http://www.lesliefeinberg.net. It‘s heartbreaking but also, though I‘ve not yet completed it, hopeful.
Amidst this wall of book series including Trixie Belden (gleeps!), Cherry Ames, Judy Bolton, and Nancy Drew, I found 5 of 6 Meg books. Books on Bay in Savannah GA
E.Shaver Booksellers (Savannah, GA) Bartleby (top) would prefer not to; Eliot covers your shirt in fur before you get it home.
Little Free Library at Flannery O‘Connor Childhood Home in Savannah, GA.
Sometimes, I purchase Kindle sale books and they disappoint. Other times, I end up with a little gem like The Rage of Plum Blossoms. This was a great escape with a nicely crafted story and well-developed characters.
My cat and I put together this donation for our library‘s silent auction fundraiser - A Tisket, A Tasket, A Literary Basket - taking place this Saturday. Banjo isn‘t interested in attending, but I‘m planning on going with my significant otter.
This is gonna take forever to get through. 50 pages in and I‘ve had to look up Saga nishiki, bochinchera, and Larry Levan and Saturday Mass at the Paradise Garage. That last one sent me on a discovery of the most incredible dance music. #houseofxtravaganza #parisisburning #thelibraryisnowopen #readingisfundamental
This first paragraph makes me ache for spring.
West Virginia and West Virginians have been brutalized by big money and politicians since 1863. Teachers have always been my heroes and instilled in me my love of learning and reading. I stand with WV teachers. #55strong https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2018/03/02/how-striking-west-vir...
Julia Keller is continuing her Bell Elkins series!
I never really got in to her music and approached Just Kids with some skepticism (believe the hype! read it!), but I decided if Patti Smith was playing in my neighborhood I should go. Amazing set that included many songs she wrote with her late husband, WV native Fred “Sonic” Smith.

To redeem the work of fools
Upon the meek the graces shower
It's decreed: the people rule”
