bailedI always want to like Jodi Picoult books, but I can't stand her characters. They have awful morals and the teens in this particular book are so self absorbed that I couldn't even finish the book.

panIn her book, Love Warrior, Glennon Doyle paints the picture of herself as the "Love Warrior" who offers forgiveness to her husband and therefor saves her marriage through it. I understand where she is coming from, but she forgets that the forgiveness didn't come from her, it came from Jesus. She forgets that her and her husband are both sinners in need of a Savior. It has dangerous underlying tones of being her own god.
I take great pleasure in reading this book while living in Japan. It makes me feel such a deep connection to Gwen Terasaki and the life that she lived. Such an incredible story of love between a small town American girl and a Japanese diplomat, a love that withstood a war between their two countries. #gwenterasaki #bridgetothesun #japan #history
