This was an enjoyable Sense and Sensibility retelling! The heroes might have been a little too perfect to be believed, but the fantasy was fun. I liked the ways the author changed the story to make sense in the present day. Bonus, sapphic Marianne character means hot butch Brandon character 😍

My kiddo decided to take this picture while I was still reading the book. He‘s getting good with a phone camera!

AllDebooks How do you get the tiny book covers, they're so cute 😍 2y
sebrittainclark @AllDebooks I make them in Google docs and then cut them out and stick them down. I've heard some people have had good luck doing something similar with label paper, so they don't have to cut them out. 2y

4/5

It's been a while since I've read Sense and Sensibility, but I had a great time realizing how this novel was playing with the events of the original. Another great entry in the Jane Austen inspired Rajes series.

I need to concede that this narrator doesn‘t work for me for these Austen retellings. I enjoyed the story and how Dev adapted it but the breathiness that Nankani puts into the dialogue is just too much. I need to remember to pick the next one up in print.

Finished this up last night as Audio 3/3 for #JoyousJanuary

I finished this early last week. I love this series & this ties with Recipe for Persuasion as my favorite so far.

I love how Dev finds the essential essence of each of Austen‘s stories, then turns that into something completely new. Each book is a new story in its own right with that core essence expanded on & brought into the modern world. Overall if you love a modern romance with characters who stand by their convictions, this is for you. 5⭐️

MeganAnn @sprainedbrain tagging you because you mentioned wanting to know my thoughts. It was fantastic!! ❤️ 2y

I love the Raje family and I thought that this would be my favorite of the trilogy (a fourth book comes out this year) because of the yoga and political campaign plots (two things very much in my wheelhouse) but it fell a little short of expectations. That being said, it was still excellent and I love the characters even more — a perfect snowy day read cuddled with Bo under the electric blanket. 🥰

ChasingOm This is my favorite of the three: 2y

What do you do when you cannot sleep? A modern twist on Austen is a good way to pass the time!

I‘ve been away for so long! I have enjoyed my self imposed ban from social media, but I‘m adding back some more bookish apps because I miss the community. Since then, I‘ve discovered Sonali Dev, who I‘ve decided I adore. I have a weakness for Jane Austen retellings. This one wasn‘t my favorite, but it was very well done and I really enjoyed it.

What a wonderful story for Yash and India! Yash has been my favorite sibling since the start of the series and his story was worth waiting for! Dev deftly manages to leave a few nods to the original stories while, at the same, making them all all her own. As you can tell by the picture, both pups enjoyed finishing this one with me, all cuddled up. #BookspinBingo ! This makes for the first bingo of the month! @TheAromaofBooks

I loveloveLOVE it when people name their pets after foods. This particular pug is called Chutney and it makes me so happy.

BookNAround I had a friend growing up whose dog was named Pickles. He was a rescue and they just kept saying words and names until his ears pricked up like he recognized his name. 😂 3y
xicanti @BookNAround awwwwww! I‘ve got a friend whose toddler named their dog Waffles, and she later realized he was probably telling her what he wanted for breakfast, not what he wanted to call the dog. The name still stuck. 3y
BiblioLitten I love that too! My friend has a dog named Momo because she loves momos! 😃 3y
xicanti @BiblioLitten awww! Momo is the CUTEST name. 3y

My weekend goal is to finish everything left in my library stack so I can start fresh next week. I don‘t think I‘ll have a problem mainlining Sonali Dev‘s latest—it‘s off to an awesome start.

mavey Ooh! The first two books in the Raje Series were superb!😃 3y
xicanti @Mavey so far, this one follows suit! 3y
mavey @xicanti That's great to hear! I thought Yash's story would follow his longtime love interest we learnt of in the previous books, gotta get my copy soon!💕 3y

#CurrentlyListening — I‘m skeptical. I bailed on the first, liked the second, and am reserving judgment on this third one.

UPDATE: 🤷🏻‍♀️ — I just didn‘t really care about the main characters and found the situations they were in pretty much unbelievable. Verdict: so-so

BethM Her writing is hit or miss for me, but I‘ve met her a few times and she‘s a fabulous human. 3y
BookishMarginalia @BethM That‘s good to know! 3y
Bluebird I bailed on the first too. Think i‘ll give the 2nd a try! Thanks! 3y

Mehso-so

I really wanted to like this, but I found it too full of dead ends and not enough character development. Yash almost gets shot at a political rally and goes to a Yoga instructor and proclaimed “stress expert” (gag me, I promise all Californians aren‘t like this), whom he had a love zap before embarking on a fake relationship to help his friend, in order to deal with his PTSD. Complications ensue, romance blooms and it‘s silly & boring. 1.5/5 stars

Moonprismpower That‘s too bad. It‘s disappointing when a book that seems appealing turns out to be a dud. 3y
iread2much @Moonprismpower it really is 😔 but at least I still have the book before this in the series to enjoy 😊 3y

The third in Sonali Dev's Raje romance series riffs on Sense and Sensibility but also is a story all its own. This one focuses on Yash Raje, who is campaigning for governor, and India Dashwood, a yoga instructor who isn't sure she wants to let Yash back in her life after he ditched her ten years ago. I enjoyed the characters and their back stories, as well as glimpses of the other couples in the series. Can't wait to see what Dev does next!

Having loved the first 2 books in this series of Jane Austen retellings, I did a happy dance when I received this #arc What sets a great retelling of Austen‘s books apart for me is when the author keeps to the💜of the original but adds their own spin. Sonali Dev‘s passion & love of Jane‘s work shines through every page. I loved getting to know India, China, Tara & Chutney & getting to revisit the Raje family. Yash & India stole my💜 #pemberlittens

KristiAhlers I have enjoyed her stories a great deal! I‘ll have to keep an eye out on this. 3y
DebinHawaii @Katbooklover It publishes in July I think! 3y

I can‘t tell you how happy I am that I don‘t have to work tomorrow. Work has been a lot lately.

Max 🐱 & I are hanging out on the couch tonight & I get to start this #ARC e-book that is jumping the #TBR line because I enjoy this series of Jane Austen retellings so much.
