3 ⭐ I'd say this book was just ok. Nothing really stood out to me but I finished it because it was a short read.
5 ⭐ Every Heart a Doorway has a unique premise, relatable characters, exploration of identity, and evocative writing.
Every Heart a Doorway is a beautifully written and thought-provoking novella that will appeal to readers of all ages. It's a story about finding your place, embracing your true self, and the enduring power of hope.
A whirlwind of emotions. I was drawn in by Lily's complex relationship with Ryle. The chemistry between them is undeniable, but Ryle's possessiveness and anger is unsettling. There are difficult realities of an abusive relationship, and Lily's journey of self-discovery and finding the strength to break free is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Predictable, but the raw emotion and realistic portrayal of toxic relationships kept me engaged.
Reading other reviews, I didn't have very high expectations. Given my low expectations, I think that allowed me to enjoy this book more than other people.
I thought it was enjoyable, a quick read, and entertaining enough for me. Like others have said, I didn't think it was scary enough to be considered a horror book, but I think it could be scary for a much younger audience. With that said, I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series.
⭐⭐⭐Overall, it was a good read. I learned a lot about the brain and how a disease can be misdiagnosed. The first half of the book was great learning her symptoms and how she was trying to get help but no one was able to figure out what exactly was wrong with her. But then the second half of the book, once they figured out what the disease was, it then became more of an educational book, interesting, but not the book that I was looking to read.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I really enjoyed this book. I started reading knowing nothing. The only thing I knew was that it had something to do with a door. So it started off a little iffy for me, but then at around 25-30 pages, it got interesting. The plot was well developed and I enjoyed how the different "stories", so to speak, came together. The ending was a bit confusing for me though.

⭐I did not care for this book at all. There's 🚬 every few pages and totally unnecessary to know how they let out their cigarettes. I didn't care about any of the characters and the narrator just seemed wrong. It actually had an ok ending though. But 90% of the book was not enjoyable. Good thing this was short, I was able to push through the read.

I really enjoyed the book while I was reading it, but then I got to the last 30ish pages and I was wondering how they were going to bring everything together. It ended with you just having more questions.
I also wasn't a huge fan of the sentence structure. They were like very blunt. If that makes any sense.
I loved the short chapters though so it made for a very quick read!!!

This was such a great book!! I thoroughly enjoyed it!! It was so easy to follow and the mystery of Coraline and her adventurous experience was so much fun to read and follow. I definitely enjoyed the world that she was in and I can't wait to watch the film adaptation tomorrow night!!

My first pick for the Halloween season!! I'm so excited to start it and then watch the movie!!

I've just completed this book. It's the third in the series, but I'm going to take a break from this series and read something in the Halloween spirit! 🎃🎃

"Finally the smallest of the monkeys, a tiny marmoset in a fez and a red bolero who had been silent until now, spoke up." My favorite line in this book!!! I love monkeys, marmosets specifically!!!!

Celestine North is flawed and has to figure out how to live in society as a flawed person. I loved the short chapters. It definitely helped with the pacing of the book, which I felt was perfect. I wanted to read the whole book in one sitting so I could find out what was going to happen.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Completely different from everything else I read. Yes, this was completely cheesy. But despite that, I absolutely loved this book. I was in the mood for a light, fluffy, cheesy book and that was exactly what I got. I really enjoyed watching this friendship blossom and listening to all of their quirky midnight conversations. It also had a nice message about family. I loved the short chapters, which helped the reading pace move along nicely.
⭐⭐⭐My first Khaled Hosseini book. I don't normally read these types of books, so I didn't enjoy it. It was well written, but I didn't care about the characters or what was happening. This doesn't mean it was bad, I've heard a lot of great things about this book and author. It just wasn't the right time for me. Perhaps I'll pick it up again for another chance. #BookWorm #ReadingAddict #ReadEveryday #ReadingBringsJoy #KhaledHosseini #TheKiteRunner
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Trigger warning. I couldn't this down. This is a gripping story about a man that captures young women and keeps them for himself to do whatever he pleases. He really cherishes beauty and wants to hold on to it and make it last forever which is why he preserves his "butterflies". The things that this young woman, Maya, had to do to survive is heartbreaking and you follow her as she tells her story in flashbacks to FBI agents handling her case.
⭐Alice goes to a party where a rumor starts about her sleeping with two guys on the same night. At school, a bathroom stall is deemed as the slut stall where nasty comments about her are written. One of the guys that is rumored she slept with dies in a car accident and the teen that survived the accident says that Alice was texting him to have sex. Alice gets bullied and blamed for the death. Nothing in this book was resolved. The book just ended.
I really had no idea what this book was about before it starting it. I just thought it was about witches and Magic. But it's actually about so much more than that. It's about love and family and the bond that siblings can have.
The only thing I didn't really like about the book, was that there are no chapters. Instead it was separated into parts.
My overall rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐

5⭐Like Auggie and many other people, I was made fun of as a kid. So this book really hit home for me. Words are very hurtful and as a young child, all you want is to be accepted. Auggie was such a trooper, a good role model and he didn't give up. Even as an adult, we can all learn from Auggie. Never give up and stay determined. Auggie reminds us all that if we choose to be kind with one another, then the world would be a better place.--Choose kind
This was my very first retelling that I have read. It's a Cinderella retelling in a sci-fi world. It's such a fun and easy read with some surprising twists and turns. I really enjoyed the world, Cinder's character and the relationship between her and Kai. I can't wait to read the second book! #TheLunarChronicles #MarissaMeyer #CinderellaRetelling #Cinder #Books #WorkingMyWayThroughMyTBR #Bookish #BookLove #ReadingAddict #ReadEveryday #BookNerd

Philip's uncle, Ambrose, marries Rachel. Ambrose wrote to Philip and alluded to him being poisoned by Rachel. He dies and Philip swears that whoever is responsible will suffer. When Rachel comes, he no longer thinks of her as a killer and falls in love. He wants to give her his inheritance despite a letter he found from Ambrose. Philip found so much evidence that Rachel had been poisoning him yet he still wanted to give away his inheritance.🙄
I thought this book was excellent. It was a definite page turner for me. I thought the ending was just ok but it wasn't a disappointment either, it just wasn't amazing.
"What we have to do is keep our heads straight. One fingerprint and the police can put you at the crime scene. Assuming you're in the system." -Blue
She is one smart woman trying to figure a way around the system.
I absolutely loved the alternative writing format. The diary and notes between Carly and Kaitlyn, psychiatric reports, witness testimonials and video footage were easy to follow. Kaitlyn, the alter ego, becomes the main suspect in Carly's disappearance. You dig deeper and realize that there's some memory being suppressed in their mind about an incident that Dr. Lansing won't tell them about because she feels that they aren't ready to know yet.
3⭐on Goodreads.
Too many unnecessary characters.
There was a scene that was very hard for me to read which was at a religious funeral, (pretty common with a vampire theme.)
The ending was abrupt. The defeat of the vampire was too simple and not long enough. Not enough vampire interaction, which made the ending feel rushed.
I was entertained while reading this book, but I was left disappointed. It didn't live up to Stephen King's horror reputation.
Abhorsen was trapped in death and Sabriel was determined to save him. During her journey, she meets Mogget and Touchstone, and finds out there is a powerful and deadly enemy chasing her. The enemy reveal is shocking and dark. The conclusion of the book is well thought out and doesn't disappoint.
Overall, this was an enjoyable read. Looking forward to picking up the rest of the books in this series to learn more about the world and magic systems.
I'm currently buddy reading this book. It's been a slow read because my buddy hasn't been able to devote too much time to read, so I'm only on page 137 at the moment. Hopefully we can speed up a bit. I feel like the book is just getting good too. I can't wait to find out what happens next. 🤓📚
I was so excited to read this book but I feel that it might have been hyped up way too much for me and I wasn't really expecting this kind of story from the king of horror. It was my first Stephen King book to read and I'm not impressed. I'm sure I'll hear a lot of backlash for this, but I'm just being honest. I'm not saying it was bad, it just wasn't great, wasn't scary and just wasn't what I expected it to be.
So I just finished this book. And all I can say, is wow. That ending was absolutely perfect and unexpected. I had a few qualms with the book, but nothing major. All the pieces fell so perfectly together. I'm so very excited to see what they do with the movie adaptation. I don't expect for it to be exactly the same, but I do expect the puzzle to be the same.
Can someone please tell me how to update the page I'm on?
