Wow..I did not see the last 10% coming. Holy cliffhanger! My friend & I were reading at same time without planning it and I‘m waiting for her to finish because I need to talk about it. 😱😱😱😱😱

Fun panel with Aaron Aceves & Ali Hazelwood about their YA debuts. #Texas Book Festival
I‘m an Alexis Hall fan & there were parts of this I loved. But I finished the book and I have no idea what the 10 Things that Never Happened Were. Also, while I love British humor & it usually works for me, a lot of what was supposed to be funny just wasn‘t funny to me. ❤️❤️❤️ #romcom
I had fun. It may be awhile before I read another vampire book though. Points total 39,676 #scarathlon #magicalmonsters @Laughterhp
MM orc romance. I might read more of these. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ heavy on the triggers #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 11 points
Very over the top dark hockey romance. Definitely mind the triggers on this one. College romance between hockey playing senator‘s son & ballet dancer he severely injured in an accident. Pretty much completely unhinged in several parts and neither Greyson or Violet was all that likable, but I was very entertained. 🏒🏒🏒🏒 #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 11 points
This was a holiday romance only in the sense that there is a Halloween party mid-book and a Christmas dinner towards the end. There were parts of this #romcom that I loved, but Charli was too much of a pushover & the grand gesture was mostly pretty weird. Jameson was an idiot & I‘m skeptical of Charli‘s decision to take him back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 26 points
Totally bonkers post-apocalyptic #gothic reverse harem story. The premise and general world building was unique, but there were some inconsistencies in the back story. 🔪🔪🔪 #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 21 points
I wasn‘t totally sold on the relationship connection on this one. I also think I am vampired out at the moment. Lots of word search points. 5051 pts total #scarathlon #magicalmonsters
Solidly entertaining vampire story. 🧛🏼♂️🧛🏼♂️🧛🏼♂️🧛🏼♂️. 398 word search. 4001 points #scarathlon #magicalmonsters
Not in database - The Malevolent Heir by Avery Scarlett - vampire and saint descended from ancient gods are essentially fated mates while also being enemies belonging to rival mafia clans with scary fathers. It‘s chaotic and messy and ended on a cliffhanger. Some of the transitions between scenes were rough and there are places dialogue was a little hard to follow. But this was a fun and unique story and I‘m looking forward to book 2. 3791 pts
Great premise but execution was too much telling. I got bored and didn‘t finish it. #scarathlon #magicalmonsters
Cute story about a small town of dragons and mages. Romance between dragon and human deputy. Very fluffy. 🐉🐉🐉
HCR speed signing books after flight delays had her rushing to her talk at the LBJ Library in Austin tonight. My friend and I really enjoyed the event.
I expect my totals for 2nd half to be less because I have a sick dog & several commitments that are going to cut into my reading time. Thanks to vampires and some great word search totals, 26,753 points through 10-15. Go #magicalmonsters @Laughterhp #scarathlon
I didn‘t guess the big bad so it was all good. 494 word search words. 4961 points #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 🧛🏼♂️🧛🏼♂️🧛🏼♂️🧛🏼♂️
Fun urban fantasy/romantic suspense. I have to be in the right mood for Winters‘ books because she usually has characters who are over the top in a way that would be annoying in real life. But this was an entertaining take on vampires & 615 word search words. #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 6171 points 🧛🏼♂️🧛🏼🧛🏼♂️🧛🏼♂️
Cute monster #romance between a bogeyman and a human. Small town Hallmarkish vibes with little bit of spice. #scarathlon #magicalmonsters #popupreadathon 31 points
Comedy horror - sort of Scream meets Back to the Future. Jamie travels back to 1987 to save her mom from a serial killer. Cheesy and fun. I was very entertained. #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 6 points
Based on a Spanish novel. Typical slasher movie fare. I definitely prefer the Spanish telenovela type shows on Netflix, but this was reasonably entertaining. #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 11 points
I don‘t watch a lot of horror movies so I‘m sure I missed a lot of movie and pop culture references. I didn‘t mind that Lynnette was a hot mess. It made it easier to suspend disbelief. 🔪🔪🔪🔪#scarathlon .#magical monsters work search 169 words 1690 + 21 = 1711
Break from seasonally appropriate reading because I always read Eden Finley/Saxon James hockey books as soon as they come out. Good but not my fave. 🏒🏒🏒🏒 #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 11 points
Dark MM #romance about a sociopath & a young man rescued from sex trafficking. Big family of killers with various disorders. Similar to Necessary Evils series by Onley James. Some horror elements & pretty spicy. Mind the trigger warnings if needed. #scarathlon #magicalmonsters Word search count 163 1651 points 🔪🔪🔪🔪
Watched Scream which I had never seen with the kid. #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 6 pts
World building had potential but overall disappointing holiday short. Directly related to Halloween and 75 word search words. #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 751 points
Tried a couple of episodes of Ghost Hunters while cooking dinner because kid wandered off with my AirPods. I was not a fan. #scarathalon #magicalmonsters 10 pts
I see why people hated this, but bonkers is one of my favorite things. Main character - stupid people want to be heroines too. Best part is the roadtrip through the dead of night 1991. No cell phone, hoping for a pay phone when you stopped somewhere. This is probably less scary if you have never been stranded on an isolated stretch of road without a cellphone or GPS tracking. #scarathlon #magicalmonsters 21 points ⬇️
#magicalmonsters #scarathlon 1. Family nickname & numbers with meaning to me 2. Romance 3. Summer except when it is a bazillion degrees for 60+ days like this year. 4. I‘m skeptical, but open to idea that there are things I don‘t know or understand 5. Texas! 😂 6. Fabulous 50s, live with young adult kids & 3 dogs, reading is stress relief from demanding job, also gluten free.
I thought the magical mishaps would be funnier than they were. Fell a little flat for me. 🧙♀️🧙♀️🧙♀️
I‘m over the 107 degree heat indexes & have been sitting with blanket in front of the fan manifesting fall. Not my favorite Meg Cabot but it was cute and fun. 🧙♀️🧙♀️🧙♀️🧙♀️
A lovely slow burn love story between coworkers who become best friends and then everything in 1959 NYC. The relationship between Nick & Andy is lovely and I like to imagine them now as 90 year old men with a big family, blood and found, who cook for them every Sunday. 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈
I really liked it! The casting was perfect and the chemistry between the actors was great. I would have loved a limited series so they could have included the complex family relationships that made the book so good. I also would have liked more with their emails. But it was cute & funny with some sad moments. I hope it gets tons of views so we get more stories like it. 👑👑👑👑 #romcom
“But the scream? Well, I can‘t be sure I even heard it. I was being paranoid. But I knew that paranoia sometimes kept you safe.” I love a #romanticthriller & thought this was great. I wasn‘t exactly surprised by the ending, but I didn‘t have it all sorted out either. Fun read. 🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪
Very different people come together and figure out how to handle the grief and heartbreak that life gives you. There are sad moments, but this is a hopeful story. 💔💔💔💔💔
My favorite read of the month. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ American rock star falls for K-pop idol. There is cheating (not on the MCs relationship) and high angst. It‘s emotional, steamy, and full of feelings. Raphael is very obsessive but it isn‘t creepy in the context of the story. It‘s just so good. #kindleunlimited
Stepbrother with severe OCD is completely obsessed with stepsister. Very #gothic, totally bonkers. I loved it.🍌🍌🍌🍌 #darkromance
Dark & spicy #traumance”. Heed trigger warnings on author website if you need them. Entertaining if you like fictional men who are walking red flags and some true crime or horror served up with your #romance. Spicy with dub con and absolute bonkers behavior. #kindleunlimited 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I gotta read some rom com to recover. #darkromance
Oliver is totally stupid and everyone in this is kind of horrible. But I am always here for crazy sauce drama & was very entertained. 🍌🍌🍌🍌
I didn‘t like this at all & only finished because my friend wanted to discuss it. The plot was absurd in multiple places and the trauma not meet cute was very over the top. Lowen & Jeremy had zero chemistry & for a romance writer, Hoover wrote some really boring sex. Hoover‘s a marketing genius but I won‘t been reading more. 😴😴😴😴😴
Book haul from a Half Price Books I don‘t get to go to often. I was especially excited about the original Surgeon From Holland cover on the top of the stack. #romance #Harlequin #theuncrushablejerseydress
I liked the “meet cute” & overall plot of this #romanticsuspense. The instalove was a little weak and there were a few places the suspense plotting could have been tighter. There is more of a seasonal tie in than a lot of #Harlequin holiday books, but this is still pretty holiday light. 🎄🎄🎄
I quite enjoyed the audio of this retelling of The Prisoner of Zenda. I love a fun tale of adventure, intrigue, and derring do. I need more swashbuckling on my TBR. ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️
Enemies to lovers is my fave trope. I loved the premise and set up for this but the execution wasn‘t great. I wasn‘t really sold on why they were enemies or on them developing into a real relationship. Thom was objectively a horrid person who uses people and the story didn‘t really sell me on why Clay was different for him. Very meh. #romance
Soft pick. I loved the alternate history universe, the premise, and characters but the story seemed short and I wanted more explanation and plot.
I liked a book in this series by a different author years ago, but this was underwhelming. Lots of weaknesses in the plot and a very minor tie in to Thanksgiving. #romance #harlequin 🔫🔫🔫
I really loved this. It‘s a slow start that builds but it works. I loved Radar, Charlie, & all the nods to fairy tales. I still have some questions, but there is magic in not knowing all the answers. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕
