Thought this was great. Listened to it on audio, and I just flew through it. Really enjoyable.

I still loved Uprooted more than this one, but this was a fascinating grownup fairy tale. Like a strange mashup of Rumpelstiltskin, the Snow Queen, with maybe some Hansel and Gretel thrown in, (or an homage to The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe?) but it is also entirely it‘s own story, and it works. Like in Uprooted, the female relationships are the best parts, as well as the theme of the love of family - whether born or found family. Recommend.

Sadly, I am not going to make my full 24 hours. Only a little over 16 hours this weekend. Still, I finished 2 books I was partway through, listened to an entire audiobook, made it 2 hours into another, and read just over 40% of another novel I started, so not too shabby, I say.

Listened to this on audio for a bit so I could make myself breakfast, eat it, clean up my kitchen and knit for a little while. Done being productive for now, AND, there‘s 3 hours 10 minutes more added to my total. Now back to my book book! #24in48 #24in48readathon

Delightful, sweet, steamy, adorable contemporary romance. The main characters - particularly the hero - are maybe a little too perfect, but not in a grating or annoying way. Not a unique premise - basically a gender-flipped Pretty Woman plot, but I really enjoyed it. Worth the time.

This book was really great. Cecile Richards has been a lifelong champion of many many fights for equality and fairness. She is clearly an amazing human being, and seems to have a bottomless well of energy for fighting the fights that most need fighting. I would like to be her when I grow up, please. This book is her personal history entwined with the recent history of progressive politics in the US. A cathartic, inspiring read - great on audio.

This is a fantastic book. I also read her first one - Everything I Never Told You - a while back. This one has every bit as excellent writing, but is a less sad story...so if you can‘t handle the heaviest of heavy right now, but want a great read, I highly recommend this. So good! I am in for anything she writes in the future, no question!

So much Nope. Can't do this kind of vague, meaningless nonsense right now. I am sure it's well-intentioned, but I can't listen to another second of it. Maybe I'm just too cynical, but I made it an hour in and I am so done. First return to Audible, I think.

This book came highly recommended by many people and holy cats, it did not disappoint! Excellent writing, slow build of a sense of dread/doom, since you know the outcome from the outset. Not at all what I was expecting the plot to be, but SO GOOD. I will be thinking about it for a while!

Might be his best book. Enlightening portrayal of living with a mental illness. Full of empathy for both the sufferer and those who love her, which I could see being difficult to accomplish, but is done well here. Recommend.

I definitely enjoyed the first section of this story. I found Sunja's story compelling, but as it went on, the succeeding generations of characters became less and less interesting, and the thread of a central plot basically completely disappeared. By the time I got to the last part of the book, I just didn't care about those characters, and some of their stories didn't seem to belong in the book at all.

Finishing up my last couple hours by starting this on audio. My eyes were getting very tired at the end of book 4, but with this clocked time added to my 5 hours 58 minutes of audiobook at the beginning, I finished all 24 hours of the #24in48readathon #24in48 ! Had some really good picks this time around. Hooray for books!

I am not sure where this book is going with itself, but I am enjoying tagging along. Very interesting writing style, intriguing premise, vivid descriptions of endless, oppressively hot weather. Makes me want to read it in a hammock, with lemonade. Instead, I am going to sleep, as it is 2 am! Over 14 hours in, more to come tomorrow for #24in48readathon #24in48 !

Nice little 6 hour audiobook starter to my #24in48readathon weekend. I honestly loved the perspective she has about being the details person who makes insanely complex arrangements run smoothly and go virtually unnoticed in the midst of history as it is happening. It was actually very inspiring. Her skill in handling moving pieces behind the scenes made me proud to be a person who can do that kind of work. Much smaller scale, of course, but still.

I have no idea who this description reminds me of. No idea whatsoever. Believe me.

I really enjoyed "The Bollywood Bride", so I was looking forward to reading this. It wasn't bad, but a bit disappointing. So much of the book was dark and depressing that when the love story finally emerged, it seemed a bit rushed and unbelievable, and the ending tied up too easily. I like her writing style, and that her romances have depth and substance, so I will read more, but this wasn't my favorite.

Ok, I just love the way Becky Chambers writes. This is a fantastically interesting universe she has created, and though this book was different from the first, I loved it equally. Nothing too dark or heavy, but filled with empathy, observation, and wonderful characters. Can't recommend enough.

Wow. Just a really important, thoughtful and beautifully written novel. Good on audio. The weighty subject matter is definitely featured and explored, but within a larger story made so relatable by an extremely empathetic protagonist. I loved Starr, her family and friends. Their lives and relationships felt complex and true. A great book to open up discussion of a difficult subject with people of any age. So well done.

Like to think this is accurate. Don't know if I am all that kind, and I rarely make new friends, but the Ravenclaw part is correct. I would probably just hole-up in the library with books and yarn and never ever leave. Sounds like heaven!

Ok, am annoyed at the Bookout App. I left off reading this morning at 8ish hours clocked, came back and started reading again, and despite having started the clock again, it is not keeping time, so I just lost 2.25 more hours of reading time for #24in48. Think I am just going back to using the stopwatch on my phone. Anyway, right now I should be at 10. 25 hours in, but I don't have that on record....grrrr, technology...

Started off my #24in48 readathon by finishing this one up on audio. Simply a beautiful book. I love the writing style, the way she approaches her central theme, and the descriptions of these wild places are gorgeous to read! Makes me want to tour the national parks while I can, and the subject matter feels particularly poignant and appropriate right now. Highly recommend!!!!

Good follow-up to the first novel. It was a relief to finally get to a HEA for these two people who really deserved it. My only minor complaints were that Annie still said "Dude" way too much, and she was sometimes a little bit too perfect to be believable. Charles was a mess, but it was nice to see inside his head too, this time. Series is a worthwhile read if you like steamy romances with nerdy characters, rock climbing, & angst. Who doesn't? ?

Really great book! This has lots of data, context and analysis of the life circumstances and roles played by single women in America, today and throughout history - an in depth exploration of key subjects, also touched on single women's issues intersecting with race & class issues, though there probably could have been even more there. Very well written, and read well on the audiobook. I really enjoyed this book. Recommend.

Loved this enough to stay up way too late finishing it last night. Beautifully written, sad and lovely. I was a tiny bit let down at the ending but overall, a really good read.

Republic of Gilead, here we come. Congratulations America, we're even dumber than we look. I have been crying for hours, so I am going to bed. Maybe I'll wake up and this has all been a terrible nightmare. I am not hopeful we will survive this reality.

November book club book - my choice. It wasn't bad, just not what I was in the mood for. Very dark story, but the writing style was fairly removed, so it was difficult to feel for the characters at times.

Took me a while to find time to finish this, but I really liked the characters, and there were some fun Easter eggs/references to try to puzzle out. Kelsea is such a competent ruler despite her inexperience and many obstacles, and this book did a good job of getting me invested in what will happen to her and to the Tearling. Left me a lot of unanswered questions, though so I will have to read on!

I dunno, guys, maybe I need to quit reading mysteries for a while. The last few I have tried have all been painfully easy to figure out, and not that much fun as a result. This one is fine, nothing bad to say about it except that I solved the mystery about halfway through and then nothing else surprised me. Also, the main character had an annoying habit of wasting time berating herself for being stupid whenever she figured something out.

This wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't spectacular. I enjoyed the premise more than the execution, I suppose. I still sort of want to see the movie, despite having read some bad reviews.
