My #BookSpin pick for September. Found it is Audio off of Libby. Already can tell this is going to be good. I love the whole “reading of a journal” format when listening to audios :)

I watched this on Amazon Prime earlier today and it was so good!
Almost as good as the book but come on the book will always be better 😉.

I saw this was being made into a movie so I moved it up on the TBR. I‘m sad it took me this long to get to it because it was really interesting topic to talk about especially in YA. I haven‘t read a lot of books where the the main character is diagnosed with Schizophrenia,so I don‘t have anything to compare. I thought it was written well and is done so in journal entries. I felt for Adam a lot and wanted more of him and his family/friend.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love the way schizophrenia is depicted in this book. I could relate to Adam with having to deal with your mind and having to deal with meds to keep your symptoms at bay. I‘m not schizophrenic, but I do have bipolar disorder, so it is nice seeing mental illness shown in a good light. Hopefully we can break the stigma.

Saw the preview for this movie, & decided I needed to read the book first. It was absolutely stunning. Schizophrenia is an extremely misunderstood disease that‘s often misrepresented in literature. There were a ton of ways this book could have gone south in terms of cliches— both having to do with the disease & also genre. But it didn‘t. Adam is a very sweet and truly likable protag. Loved his relations with other characters, too.
Finally a story that does not depict schizophrenic people as psychopaths. I can imagine that for people who deal with the disorder on a daily basis, this is a very welcome book. Looking forward to the movie as well, lots of freedom for the creators on how to visualise the hallucinations. Definately a good pick!
Read before the movie release this Aug 21st #booktoscreen 📖🎞
A funny, honest and realistic read depicting what it‘s be like to live with schizophrenia.
Told through the unfiltered and expressive journal entries of our protagonist Adam, I loved seeing inside his mind, his thoughts teetering between despair and humor, and loved his self-awareness to the state of his mind. The author successfully brings awareness to the manifestation of schizophrenia while debunking the negative stereotypes that surround it.
Really enjoyed this last pick of the #LMPBC round. It‘s been fun ladies! @TheBookKeepers @Johanna414 @kellyann28
Relatable, heartfelt, witty and real. I feel as if any reader could sympathize with the Adam for feeling "abnormal" or different. This book was very well written, and laugh out loud funny at times. I'm teetering between a 3 to 4 rating because I've read so many books lately that evoked similar feelings, but I will round up to 4.
I really, really liked this one! I loved all the characters! I‘ll get it in the mail ASAP @TheBookKeepers @kellyann28 @irre #lmpbc
Great story 👍 interesting perspective of a teenage schizophrenic on a trial drug. Loved the way it was written and the main character was funny and smart.
Trying to finish my book and people won‘t stop talking to me... 😭😭😭😭😭
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Words On Bathroom Walls.
288 pages.
Read in 5 days.
Pros: This book grabbed me from the first page, I thought this was an interesting read and definitely made the reader see what the character was going through. This book touched home as well having a MIL who is schizophrenic there were things in here I could relate to.
Cons: None.

“Church is for people who believe in things they can‘t see. Life for me is about seeing things I probably shouldn‘t believe in. So there‘s a nice symmetry there. “
This was a good read! Definitely opened up my eyes to a different side of schizophrenia than what I have experienced in my life. #LMPBC @TheBookKeepers @irre @Johanna414
I got a new phone today so I'm really just playing with my camera. It's so much better than my previous! I need to put it down and read some on my #LMPBC
My #LMPBC was delivered right to my doorstep by @TheBookKeepers yesterday! Sorry to say I wasn't home and missed her, but I am excited to start this one!

Loved this read! All the characters really stuck with me! Excited to see what everyone else thinks! @kellyann28 @irre @Johanna414 #lmpbc
Here are 4 books I‘m considering for our #lmpbc ! @irre @kellyann28 @Johanna414 Let me know if you‘ve read any already, if any jump out at you that you‘d be excited about, or any that you definitely want me to avoid lol! So excited! I‘ll also list them in the comments.
A wonderful book. I didn‘t want to put it down.
I really loved this one and read it every second I could. The first person narrative in the form of letters to Adam's therapist made him a real and vulnerable character. Walton's descriptions of Adam's schizophrenic hallucinations were vivid and vibrant, and although this was a serious subject, there were several laugh-out-loud moments. I also appreciated that the love interest, Maya, wasn't a caricature and was more than just "nerdy" or "pretty".
On a reading marathon this week! Now starting Words on Bathroom Walls which features a main character that struggles with schizophrenia, but is trying not to be defined by the mental illness.
i just wish this book had a bigger following. it really deserves one.
This one was really really good guys! I got it in an Uppercase Box awhile back now and kept overlooking it. I‘m so glad I finally picked it up. Told in journal entries to his therapist, it chronicles the life of a teenager with schizophrenia. I may or may not have cried my way through the last five chapters. 5⭐️
There were so many memorable quotes from this book!! It‘s told from the mind of a schizophrenic boy who is put on different drug regimens. We see him struggling with his own reality - HIS normal - and trying to conform into what society considers normal, such as falling in love, being bullied by the “popular kids who come from money”, etc. Would definitely recommend for anyone to read.
Loved this! ❤
Funny, honest and very eye opening. A brilliant story about a teenage boys struggles with schizophrenia.
Some of the things Adam said were just fantastic!
"The important thing about being crazy is knowing that you're crazy. The knowing part makes you less crazy."
"J.K. Rowling is a fucking genius. Anyone who doesn't think so is crazy."
????
Wow! I don't even know where to start with reviewing this book. I feel like this is an important book bringing awareness of metal illnesses. Adam is in high school and has just been diagnosed with being paranoid schizophrenic. He is learning to live with it. But he doesn't what the people at his new high school to know about his illness. But when he meets Maya he starts to have feeling for her but doesn't want her to know. Such a powerful read!
“Most people are afraid of themselves, Adam. They carry that fear everywhere hoping no one will notice.”
I expected to like this book, but I did not expect all the feels. First of all, it was so nice having a young adult novel written in the male voice. But on top of that, there are so many quotes you can pick out that don't just apply to people with mental illnesses; you could adapt it to any marginalised or oppressed group and it would ring true. I loved it, and I totally didn't cry.
Right now, my son needs me to protect him from narrow-minded people motivated by fear.
Nobody gives a shit about feelings. They are useless , pathetic wastes of time for believers in astrology and unicorns.
As serious of a topic as this book addresses, I'm finding it rather humorous.
"My daddy done left me."
I related to a lot in this book. So many good lines about mental health. Adam was such a great character to get to know, and I love how he says what comes to mind, without a filter. I feel like Ian could‘ve had more backstory and development, and maybe he was struggling with his own stuff as well. Overall great book, I won‘t forget this one!
We should just look at [the art]. And that‘s it. We shouldn‘t pretend we understand.
3/5. this was really interesting, and i think it‘s important to read books about other kinds of mental illnesses like schizophrenia. i liked it and thought that the character was well-written and funny, but i just didn‘t love it for no particular reason. if i had bought this book, i probably would have donated it later on.
1. Cleaning the bathroom
2. I know men who cook but they don't cook for me😔

It‘s a snow day! ❄️❄️❄️ Since work was cancelled today I‘m taking full advantage. I‘ve already finished one book today and hoping to finish this one today as well 😊 Life is good
I feel the way about this as I did about Nic Stone‘s “Dear Martin,” except this time the issue is mental illness, not racism. Just...read this, y‘all. It‘s honest and unflinching and funny but poignant. (It kind of had me at “Catholics celebrate weird shit,” to be honest.) #wordsonbathroomwalls #juliawalton
I‘m going to start insisting that people refer to me as an angry hummingbird. Because that‘s...really pretty accurate. 😂 (In other news, I think I love this book already.) #wordsonbathroomwalls #juliawalton
