It‘s a big one but definitely worth the time. Interesting to read in a post-Covid world.

Another ebook chunkster is on sale and I can vouch for this one. A five-star read!!
This is the second book in the Kingsbridge series. It takes place 200 years after book one and can be read as a stand alone. Though the characters are different the plot similar. Politics, love, jealousy and revenue are the key components of this historical fiction. The characters are exceptional and the prose refined. My only complaint is that it was a bit long and the story dragged in places. Still very good. 4⭐️
#Two4Tuesday Thanks for the tag @TheSpineView 😀
1. Tagged book was my longest last year. I read 38 books that were over 500 pages, but the tagged book was over 1000.
2. I actually at times really want a fat book to get lost in for a few days. 💚
@bthegood wanna play?
There was a soft sugar cookie with this setup, but I ate it. Om nom nom. 🍪 #tea
Tonight‘s tea is Sweet Dreams from Bigelow. I normally don‘t like tea with hibiscus or mint, but I love this one. The mug says “Nope, not today.” #tea
“He felt his future was secure.” Said on page 247 of 1025. Oh honey, no… #tea

1. Non-fiction- We Keep the Dead Close Historical Fiction- World Without End (tagged).
2. Both are thumbs up! 👍 I loved World Without End
3. Mystery/Suspense/Thriller… I love police procedurals like the Kim Stone series, Helen Grace series, Kay Hunter series…. Maybe I really like series? 😂
@robinb @Crazeedi @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @DarkMina
And finished. I loved this book just as much as the first. The only complaint I have is I felt that there was way more sexual content than the first. So much so that it felt forced and unnecessary. But, I still loved the journey through several decades in Kingsbridge. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I have been chipping away at this chunkster over the past few weeks by reading the physical book, taking the ebook loan from the library with me everywhere, and listening to the audiobook whenever I get a chance. I‘m determined to finish it today! 160+ pages left. Let‘s go! 😀 Happy Friday, Friends!
This is just as good as the first book in the series! I wish the series could go on for decades! This second volume in the Kingsbridge series takes place in the 14th century and again features the residents of the English city with its magnificent cathedral. This tells the story of a plague that strikes England and how the residents of Kingsbridge deal with it. Just like its predecessor, this novel is a modern masterpiece. Highly recommended.
Started #20in4 early and now the kid is snoring next to me, so I‘m taking advantage and trying to get some time in. 🤓📖😀
Eye appointment time means I get a few minutes to go to Kingsbridge! 🤓
Finally some quiet time to get back into World Without End! 😍
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #SeriesRead2021 @TheSpineView
Just as wonderful the second time around! 💚
Although I do miss the characters from the first book, I love that we see some of their traits in their ancestors. Caris is such a great character in this book, defying conventional norms to do what she feels is right.
The plague felt more realistic to me with the masks and quarantine. 😕
Another engrossing trip to Kingsbridge.
I really enjoyed the second installment in this series. I find Ken Follett to be a wonderful storyteller. I‘ll be moving on to both the next sequel and the prequel.
I'm excited to reread this one next month. This is one of my favorite series and #Benediction is an ongoing theme throughout.
#SpringSentiments @Eggs
I can‘t stay away from Kingsbridge any longer. I‘m going back! 🤓 A chunkster challenge part 2? @Amiable 😀
Another stumble into a local op shop, but I only had 30 mins before school pick up to quickly scan the many shelves, I think I got just over halfway. Happy with my finds.
I will save a longer browse, (usually I'm there a minimum of 2 hours) for a day when I have the headspace to stop and relax and the need to feel nourished. These are such special days and I like to stretch them out inbetween and do not ever take them for granted, they are earned.
15,000! Thanks everyone! I am slowly getting back on Litsy, I love browsing everyone's posts. Just haven't felt like writing reviews myself.
I made it 112 pages in before I stopped.
I didn‘t like the I‘m going to beat this person up just because I can happening twice within about 5 pages. And I also found that I just didn‘t care. I didn‘t care about Kingsbridge Priority and it‘s surrounding areas and I didn‘t care what happened to the purple that lived there at all.
I don‘t typically DNF books so this is definitely a rarity but this one had nothing keeping me in its world.
Tissue box for scale. I'm jumping into this chunkster next. I read Pillars of the Earth years ago and loved it.
I will put a spoiler in the comments to this post because there is one thing in this book that I really don‘t understand.
So, anyone who read it, please peek and explain its relevance to me if you can. Thank you‼️🙇🏽♀️
Never thought so, but I need to bail on this Ken Follett book. Sorry, not sorry. From about page 600 on the story felt kind of dragging and boring. Like Follett wanted to still put more and more and more information in without really developing his plot. Maybe it‘s because I just read “Kingsbridge” but I found many of the plot lines similar and interchangeable. The story just didn‘t hold my interest anymore.
Part Five
March 1346 to December 1348.
Foreshadowing on some blood-shedding if I interpret this illustration right.
I‘m at a bit more than 50 % now and am a bit in doubt. The last about 150 pages felt different than the rest. Not so grasping. More like Follet wanted to also put this … and this … and this … and also this topic into the plot as well.
I‘m late to @ozma.of.oz ‘s #SundayFunday because prompt 2️⃣ got me thinking 🤔💭
1️⃣ Tagged; volume 2 of Ken Follett‘s “Pillars-of-Earth”-series.
2️⃣ No, in retrospect not really – although it feels differently. But I think my consumption of audiobooks would‘ve increased despite you-know-what. 🤷🏽♀️
3️⃣ 🇩🇪 „Wie das Gehirn die Seele macht“. About exactly what the title says: About where in our brain our soul is located.
🇩🇪 „Merthin gab ihr einen Silberpenny. Nur zwei Leute hatten ihn je bei einer Partie Puff besiegt […]“ (Seite 555)
🇬🇧 “Merthin gave her a silver penny, only two people had ever beaten him in a game of Puff […]“ (p. 555)
⬆️⬆️⬆️ A game of Puff.
Sure. What else. 😂
For those who wonder because they aren‘t speaking German: „Puff“ is the informal German term for whorehouse.
Internet = great.

1️⃣ I was finally – after more than 2 years – also allowed to work from home. 🥳
2️⃣ What lesson I sustainably learned is so hard to answer. I think I still need to be more careful about myself. 😔 Listen more to my mental and physical health – meaning, taking longer breaks more frequently wherever necessary.
3️⃣ 📚 Reading: ⏬
3️⃣ 🎧 Audiobooks: ⏫.
4️⃣ Publication of the German “Ready Player Two” as an audiobook. 🤓
My dear friends and companions in reading,
wishing you a happy 2021. Healthy and contented, full of support, nice surprises and at times with a welcomed possibility to extend your comfort zone.
I allowed myself a much needed break from everyday routine at my significant other‘s house. We hid ourselves away in togetherness. Playing games, cooking, eating. Some wine, watching nerd stuff on the Internet ➕ ✨ sparklers ✨.
So unwinding‼️🥲
German Littens,
Am I the only one thinking that

is hyphenated wrongly❓
Part Four
June 1338 to Mai 1339
At the end of the last chapter on of the protagonists had an abortion. She wanted it. She‘s a modern woman longing to be independent in what was even more a men‘s world then then today …
But this scene really moved me. Always reminds me that I never want to be confronted with that decision. I feel, it‘s one of those you l#always feel bad about no matter how intense you ponder over it or discuss it. 🥺
Here now: About 12:30 p.m., coffee ☕️, bed 🛏 and book 📖.
Reader‘s delight. 🥰🤩
Part Three
June to November 1337
Maybe it‘s conceited but when I just saw that illustration I thought how rich and privileged we are. Even those in the western world who live close to bread line.
A degree of certain kind of humility would do us all better. Myself included.
Borrowed from friend. We started talking about “Kingsbridge” being the prequel to “Pillars” and I said that I didn‘t know “Pillars” is no standalone. She said, she owns volume 2 and could lend it to me. I asked, if it is the book where in the beginning the bridge falls apart because I remember to have often started but never finished it because of, you know, life coming in between. She wasn‘t quite sure.
But there you go: The bridge falling apart.
It comes along with beautiful illustrations also.
Part One
November 1327
👆🏼 This item on loan is my next read. 👓
It‘s the sequel to “🇬🇧 Pillars of the Earth”.
Very much looking forward to it. 🧡🤎💛
Round two! Cute pic of Finn purely for attention! Happy Friday!
Don‘t know what to say about this book after reading the previous.
Another compelling story that keeps the reader attached to the book. You find yourself rooting for the various characters on each page.
So good 👌👌
