Reminded me of both Thomas Mann‘s The Magic Mountain and a Miyazaki film while still being it‘s own thing. Very good.

1. No goals. If I set a goal, I think more about making the goal than enjoying the reading. I'm neurotic that way.
2. If I get to it, I'm going to read The Lincoln Lawyer
3. Jelly belly jelly beans. I bought a big bag today.
4. Quiet, no distractions
5. Yes, fiction, non-fiction, comic books
6. @audraelizabeth @books_cats_art @megabooks

@Clwojick #SummersEndReadathon

Clwojick I can definitely understand the downside to setting goals. Sometimes it cause more stress than motivation. 5y
Bklover Love jelly bellies 5y
Megabooks I always forget about comics. I should check some out on hoopla! And I love blueberry and pear jelly bellies. 👍🏻 5y
Buechersuechtling I‘m so much at your side on the topic of setting goals in reading, @RamsFan1963 and @Clwojick – 2019 was the first year I set myself a reading goal. Well, I already reached it but I don‘t think I‘ll do that again because it did create a tiny pressure-feeling in the back of my head. And that‘s something I really don‘t want in my spare time or for my hobby. 5y
RamsFan1963 @Megabooks 👍👍 Pear jelly bellys are my all time favorites!! 5y

Loved the evocative, dreamlike illustrations, even when some of the story escaped me. Can't wait to see what this creator has up next.

Such a beautiful book done by such a young graphic novelist. Incredibly talented!

UrsulaMonarch Agreed! Just started it and love the playful but claustrophobic architecture 6y

A graphic novel heavy month makes my total too ridiculous to write down. 😂 I should add all the chapter books I go through with my son as well. 🤣
Ahem. Ok, I'm surprised by my non-graphic novel count too. I thought I hadn't read much this month. 🙄
Best: Nimona, the Amulet series, and The Shipping News.
Honorary mention: Sons and Lovers, The Country Girls, Fahrenheit 451

Cinfhen Well done 🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️ 7y
rockpools 👍That's pretty ridiculous even without the graphic novels! 7y

First book finished for #24in48 #readathon! While I wasn't expecting the dark turns the story took, I overall really enjoyed this book. Like with all of Tillie Walden's work, the art is consistently astonishing. I also would really like to have a giant cat named Nemo... please?? 😻
