This book reminded me a bit of #SleepTight by #RachelAbbott. That was also a meh for me. The basic idea of this book was good, but it wasn't really gripping or exciting.

Emma‘s son goes missing during a bad storm@that floods the towns river. After days of searching they find his red raincoat and he body never recovered. 10 years later the son she thought died comes back but he is too traumatized to speak.
A great fast paced mystery thriller. I was surprised by who had actually taken Aiden but once looking back I saw the clues the author left.

so-soIt‘s not awful, and it works as mediocre entertainment, but there‘s just too much going on in this book. How many evil villains with a need to explain all their nasty deeds can a book handle? In my opinion, none. I prefer more subtle bad guys, not the typical caricature version you get all too often. And the whole silent child thing didn‘t work very well either. It was all a bit of a mess really.
so-soFinished this one on my way home last night. I‘m conflicted about recommending it because the NARRATION IS AMAZING but I found the book itself lacking. Joanne Froggatt starred on Downton Abbey and she makes this book. If I was flat out reading it, I honestly probably would have bailed. The story was good but I found the resolution and some of the explanations a bit beyond belief. 4-star narration on a 2.5 star book. 😂
My share for #Silent is an audiobook of Silent Child, which may be ironic. (Should I ask Alanis Morrisette?) I got this because it was read by Anna from Downton Abbey. She is a great narrator! #ReadingResolutions @Jess7
pickEmma lost her son Aiden in a flood, twelve years later she is newly married & pregnant when suddenly Aiden returns. It's clear that he has been through a lot, however he won't say a word about what happened, he won't say anything.
Overall, I enjoyed this psychological thriller, however the book could have used some editing. I did think it was pretty obvious who took Aiden, but it was still fun trying to piece everything together.
Just got done with a particularly exhausting shift at work and although I have been stopping myself from being too indulgent lately, I deserve this hot chocolate! 🍫 ☕
pickFinished this one last night. It was one of those Kindle deals that sounded like it would be okay. I couldn‘t put this down. I was so interested in this poor family and the scenario they were in. As for guessing who did it, I was back and forth for most of the book.
so-soI listened to the audiobook of this, narrated by Joanne Froggett, who played Anna on Downton Abbey. She did a really good job reading, and that made me like the book more than I might have if I'd just read it. Id give her four stars for the narration, and the story 2.5 stars. This isn't the best story, because I felt the conclusion relied on a lot of coincidences, but it kept me entertained.
I chose to listen to this because it's read by Anna from Downton Abbey. She's a good narrator! #audiobook
so-soI was hoping Silent Child would have been more intense and complex. It was long-winded and the main character got on my nerves with her whining and weakness. The conclusion was good. Overall, 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Groupon has a voucher for 60 days of Kindle Unlimited for free! I have used it before but they didn't have enough interesting titles that would justify me paying for it. 😊😊😊
so-soThe culprit came as no surprise, and the narrator grated on me after a while. The story quickly became tedious, and I lost sympathy with Emma after she proved unable to cope in any way with her traumatised child.
It kept me company through my week of runs, parts of my morning commute, and naps I wasn't aware I needed. For this I will give it a so-so.
Is the narrator sucking a sweet? Not sure I can handle the moist swallows between sentences, even to confirm that I guessed the twist hours ago. But I shall persevere.

What do you do when 10 years after your child goes missing, comes back? This book does a great job on pulling you in and keeping you on the edge of your seat from the very first page to the very last. It'll make you question everyone and shock you with every plot twist and turn.

so-soA child disappears during a massive flood and reappears 10 years later - mute. Sort of tough to read when you have kids and a little predictable.
pickI was pleasantly surprised by this book... Most of the time I find "psychological thrillers" to be pretty predictable but there was something different about this one... Although I thought I knew who did it, I was never 100% sure until the very end!!
I have been adding a lot of books to my kindle app on my iPad... There have been so many good deals lately!
Woke up with a very sore throat so this is going to be my day... Tea, books, and the couch!

so-soGot this book for .99 on Amazon and thought...man this sounds great! Then I read it and it was sooooo slow up until like the last 30%. After that bump it turned into a cluster of crazy. I never saw the person who kidnapped him coming. That was shocking.
I'm reading this book now and really enjoying it although it is truly pulling at my heart. As a Mom, it is hard to read because of our natural fears. However, as a book lover it is truly keeping me engaged.
