Headed there later this week to see some family and do a few tours. I‘m looking forward to checking out some places I haven‘t been yet. I‘ve spent most of my previous trips there in the French Quarter.

This little book on loan from @Eyelit has helped me make some plans. 😊🪦⚰️🎷☕️

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Let me know where you visit!! I would like to go 😊 3y
TheBookStacker I used to live in New Orleans I lived in Uptown and it‘s so fabulous up there. I miss it every day. 3y
Hooked_on_books I‘ve only been there once, way back in the 90s, but I had fun. I actually saw Bob Hope there but didn‘t realize who he was. 😜 3y
AmyG What a wonderful city. I went to jazzfest maybe 10 years ago. Have a fabulous time! 3y

We just got back from New Orleans tonight and we had so much fun! Thank you all for your recommendations, the cemetery tour we took was amazing, and the Kitchen Witch Cookbook store was awesome, and through them we found the Community Book Center, which focuses on African American literature, and had a great selection of diverse books for kids and adults! Plus I got to talk Toni Morrison with the bookseller. ♥️ #weneeddiversebooks #neworleans

Hi Listy friends! I'm off to New Orleans this week for the first time and I'm so excited! Give me all of your recommendations for New Orleans - bookstores, restaurants, art galleries, or even books set in New Orleans, (except Confederacy of Dunces, I legit despise that book). Tell me everthing!

Cinfhen @emilyhaldi @Mdargusch might be able to help!!!! 5y
Cinfhen Have fun 💕💕 5y
TheDaysGoBy Have a blast! New Orleans is a great city 5y

wanderinglynn I love NOLA. The food is so delicious. Have a great time! 5y
GatheringBooks was in new orleans in 2011 thereabouts and fell in love with the place. i do recall taking a photo of this same area back then. enjoy!! 5y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Cafe Du Monde for coffee and beignets!!! 😋😋 5y
Amandajoy There‘s a brunch place called Stella‘s (I think) that I really like. I‘ve ate there every time I‘ve gone to New Orleans. It‘s in the French quarter, I can always seem to find it. 5y
Redwritinghood Go to The Kitchen Witch (bookstore) and buy some of their house made Cajun seasoning. It‘s so good. 5y
cobwebmoth If you like pastry I would recommend Le Croissant d'Or on Ursulines(just down from the convent). Garden District Book Shop is nice, and it's almost across from Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, which is my favorite spot to walk. 5y
Mdargusch I‘m going there the first week in April so I‘m glad to see recommendations too! I love cafe du monde for cafe au lait and beignets, Napoleon House for Pimms Cups and a muffuletta, and Pat O‘s for their piano Bar. There‘s a great antique/ second hand bookstore in the French Quarter too but I don‘t know the name and I‘m pretty sure it‘s on Chartres Street. Have a great time! 5y
parttimedomestic @Amandajoy I'll look it up, thanks! 5y
parttimedomestic @Redwritinghood yes! Kitchen Witch was on my list! Thank you! 5y
parttimedomestic @cobwebmoth thanks for the recs! I've been telling my husband that we need to go to one of the cemeteries but he thinks it's morbid! 😂 5y
parttimedomestic @Mdargusch oh I'll have to keep an eye out for that bookstore! Thanks! 5y
Cinfhen Yay!!! I‘m glad @Mdargusch was able to help xx I want to visit too!!!!! 5y
emilyhaldi Ohmygosh yes DO go to a cemetery for sure!!! So beautiful... and maybe a bit morbid, but very cool 😉 5y
jb72 I hope you have lots of fun! 5y

tpixie @Elle_Skeldon thx! Miss the chicory coffee!!! 6y
Foragingfantasy I‘m pretty sure you can order the coffee and beignet mix online! It won‘t be the same, but it may help with the missing! I‘ve even seen Cafe Du Monde coffee in my grocery store. I went about 16 years ago, I want to go again now, with my hubby. 6y
Cathythoughts Yummy test post 👍🏻❤️ 6y
jillannjohn You can order both online. I love their cafe au lait ❤️ I 6y
tpixie @Foragingfantasy I‘ll have to look to see if my town carries it! 6y
tpixie @jillannjohn I‘ll have to order some!! 6y

LeahBergen I was there a few years ago for Halloween and it was SO AWESOME. 6y
dylanisreading Definitely go to Frenchmen if you‘re out and about. That‘s the best place to be downtown for Halloween. (I live here.) 6y
Booksnchill @bianca that is our plan- good to know we were right!!! 6y

#bookmail for the trip I've got planned with my sister in a couple of months. So excited!

Taking recommendations for bookstores and vegan friendly eateries 😃

LeeRHarry Faulkner House Books - down the side of the cathedral - a small but beautifully formed bookshop! Also if you have time head out on the bayou - we had a great time 😊 7y
archaeolibrarianologist Definitely go on one of the haunted tours. They are less spooky, more historical. But wear comfortable shoes. You'll spend 2 or 3 hours walking around the Quarter. (They take place in the evening, so no messing up any day plans.) 7y
Grrlbrarian Beckham's Book Shop is great. Maple Street is closing this weekend 😨😢 But Garden District Books is right off the St Charles streetcar if memory serves. 7y

tpixie I recommend do the Hop on Hop Off Bus Tour by Cafe du Monde. It gives you a great overview of the city and then u can pick your sites! We did the two day one, because we were there for one week. Took the whole tour the first round. then the rest of the two days used it as our taxi/Uber. Enjoy this great city!! (and the chickory coffee at Cafe du Monde- the beignets may have butter) 7y
Shortstack Can't wait to here all about it!! I'm going next year! 7y
TheBookStacker Aw I'm so sad I miss New Orleans so much, I just moved from there to Las Vegas. Enjoy!!!! 7y
Eyelit @LeeRHarry excellent! I've got that on my list and I'm glad to hear another book lover recommends it 😃 I'm still trying to talk my sister into exploring the bayou, but she's resistant 7y
Eyelit @archaeolibrarianologist do you have a specific tour you recommend? There are a few companies and we will be there just before Halloween so I totally want to do one! 👻😃 7y
Eyelit @Grrlbrarian awesome! I'll add those two to my list (though sad to hear a bookstore is closing) 7y
Eyelit @tpixie good to know, thanks!! I've already got a source on vegan beignets 😁 7y
Eyelit @Shortstack I'll def be posting some things here and Instagram 😄 7y
archaeolibrarianologist I 💚 New Orleans. 7y
tpixie @Eyelit awesome! Have a blast! New Orleans is my favorite place to visit!! A plantation tour might be fun- but that's another road trip. 7y
tpixie @archaeolibrarianologist thx for tour ideas- we may do those next time around! 7y
tpixie Felix Oysters- 739 Iberville St. we don't like oysters, but liked these
- right across from famous ACME oysters- but not the crazy long line

World War II museum- if u like history
7y
tpixie Pat O Brian's - the piano bar area- this was real fun. They take requests and then play dueling pianos. it was fun. 7y
kspenmoll Enjoy! I would love to go there one day! 7y

Being a New Yorker, I've never actually seen one of these magical little free libraries before. So I was beside myself with excitement when I stumbled on one in the Garden District of New Orleans today. THEY DO EXIST!! 😁

alanacristin There aren't any in New York?? 7y
cariashley @alanacristin I've never seen one in Manhattan, though I could be wrong. Hustlers are always stealing books from stores to resell on the street so can't imagine LFLs surviving there. I'm sure there are some outside the city! 7y
Happybooknerd We have 2 in my city. One is handled by an avid 13 year old reader!! 7y
cariashley @Happybooknerd that is awesome!! 7y

I haven't any books #onthenightstand (mainly because I don't have a nightstand... if I did I WOULD have books on it and NEVER ever sleep 😂) - but I do keep a collection of soon to be read books (mostly library) on my little coffee table (can you guess where I'm vacationing later this year? 😄) #aprilbookshowers

tapgurl Oh boy if it's New Orleans you are going to have a blast! 7y
