Chainbreaker | 
pickTara Sim‘s second Timekeeper novel expands her world in all sorts of juicy ways as she adds a couple more POV characters and transfers the action from England to India. I enjoyed it very much, but it does read like your typical middle book: there‘s plenty of forward motion but little resolution to any of the plot lines. You probably want to have the third book, FIRESTARTER, on hand so you can dive right in and get the full story.
I started CHAINBREAKER on a walk to the grocery store for deeply necessary supplies (ie, the tomatoes I forgot to get yesterday, plus some of that almost-healthy ice cream and my yearly bottle of Coke). It was warm enough out that I was too hot in my jacket, but not warm enough that I could go without it.

I have finally accepted that the raging sinuses and congestion I have had since Saturday afternoon is in fact a cold, since Maya woke up hacking up a lung. We will both be taking it easy today! A summer cold may be a blessing in disguise, a reminder to slow down for a few days!

pickOkay, this has a lot of interesting things happening. I think it does slightly suffer from second book syndrome somewhere in there, but with a pretty exciting ending setting up book three of the trilogy. There are some mythological inaccuracies, minor grammatical errors in Hindi, and a couple of transliteration errors, but none of this takes away from the story. I also appreciated the author's note in the end.
