I didn‘t do much in the way of acknowledging Pride in June and I certainly didn‘t do much in the way of reading. I wanted to lose myself in a story of love that I could recognize and relate to. I first read Pages for You 3 years ago and gave that a quick re-read before tackling this sequel. Whereas You is written entirely from Flannery‘s perspective in short, dreamy vignettes, the writing in Her has matured right along with the characters. 👇🏼

I am enjoying the writing in this book, but I hate the husband.

I closed this sequel with one long, satisfied sigh. The tone feels more mature than the first: less love affair, more reflection. I loved this contrast, as young romances seem to swallow us whole; we see only the other person, imagining only one outcome. As time goes on, our horizons expand as we make room for everything needed to build a life. Flannery and Anne have crossed paths again, taking all of who they have become with them to this moment.

Day was tough. Burger takes center stage tonight. I promise I‘ll finish this book! Hope your day was wonderful, or if not, you are enjoying a good book + good food (burgers DO solve problems sometimes 😋😜).

Pork is braising, apartment is clean, friends coming in an hour, and now I have uninterrupted reading time with this dear friend. We get to see into Anne‘s mind in this book, and it is a beautiful thing.

My husband took me book shopping yesterday for my birthday and here's my haul 📚 The Immortalists is a signed copy- can't wait to read it!!

Everything bagel with spicy harissa schmear and lots of greens and my book! This is very different than the first one but an equally compelling exploration of mother‘s/daughters and marriage and longing. Loving it.

Don‘t mind me. I‘m just sitting here on a beautiful Saturday morning with my arugula hummus I just whipped up and devouring the sequel to Pages for You. It was delivered this morning and I have stars in my eyes for Anne and Flannery. Together forever. Or at least I‘m hoping so 🤩.

I have taken maybe too much advantage of all the Kindle book sales recently. Bought another six books this morning. Many of these are just too good to pass up. #bookhaul
