This installment of the Jack Reacher series didn‘t quite do it for me. I liked it okay, simply because I love Reacher. The plot was lacking suspense and moments of intense energy. #MountTBR

Sometimes it‘s nice to return to a favorite series. Reacher returns to his old MP unit after being accused of a crime more than a decade earlier. Fast-paced and a quick read as always. Reacher works through his lawyers and alongside CO Susan Turner to uncover a conspiracy and fight the charges against him and Turner.

Jack Reacher one of my favorites, but I wish is was another actor that plays him

JoyBlue Preach! Cruise's insistence on playing Reacher makes me think *even less* of him than I already did. It's ridiculous! 4y
Catherine_Willoughby I only like Tom Cruise pre 1997 . Since the 00 onwards he has become too strange (if you know what I mean) for me to watch any of his projects seriously. I did see Mission Impossible 1 (one was enough) . He will forever be Lestat . It worked . Its the only movie that I don't see superstars but actors. Antonio Banderas did a good job even tho the book character is blond and 14 years old (I only discover this when I read the books years later) 4y
marleed Having read Lea Remini‘s memoir last month, it‘s going to be hard for me to each a TC movie - I‘m not sure if I‘ll be able to separate the actor from the character he portrays. Someday, Years from now when he is no longer the power of his church there will be a movie - or limited series - about him. It will be nuts and the audience will be left wonder how in the hell he had so much power. 4y

bookaholic1 @JoyBlue I totally agree, I as well have lost alot of respect since his last divorce 4y
bookaholic1 @Catherine_Willoughby yes, exactly...I lost interest in him as an actor a long time ago 4y
bookaholic1 @marleed I really need to read Lea's book. I myself have had a picture of Reacher in my head, before I even knew there were movies about the character, lol 4y

Reacher follows up on a telephone call because he likes the sound of her voice, only to find her imprisoned and false charges against him. None of it makes sense to him. So, of course, he starts pulling on strings to see if it will unravel.

Following a tag from @Centique at the weekend this a post of the seven (although eight in the picture 😂) books on the left hand side of one of my shelves. The Jack Reacher section and I really need to get reading those books again! Hold have Posted sooner but at first took a photograph of the right hand side! 🤪

@GHABI4ROSES @EadieB @robinb @TheAromaofBooks if you‘ve not had a go do you want to post 7 books on the left-hand side of a bookshelf.

EadieB @Andrew65 I‘ll have to check out my shelves for some interesting books! 5y
robinb @Andrew65 Will do! Thanks for the tag. 😊 5y

This is one solution to reading them in order. 😃Someone gave a bunch of mystery books to Goodwill, all were marked in this way, it makes sense, but I couldn‘t do it to mine.😃

KristiAhlers That is brilliant! I‘m that person who reads the 5th and last book of a series first. I‘m totally challenged that way lol 5y
Leftcoastzen @Katbooklover that‘s funny ! I love to read a series in order so I look it up constantly or write the series down in order in a notebook.😄 5y
KristiAhlers I‘ve started to get wise to the looking up. But every once in awhile I‘ll be overcome by the need to buy a book and that‘s when I find out I‘m reading the end of a series lol. Ahhh the joys of reading 5y
Leftcoastzen @Katbooklover Oh,I hear you , I‘ve done it too. 5y
KristiAhlers @Leftcoastzen I‘m glad I‘m not the only one 😊 5y

The audio book version of Never Go Back is my #NovemberByTheNumbers for the 18th because it‘s the 18th Jack Reacher!!!! 😊😊😊 For all I do like the movies, let‘s face it, Tom Cruise is just *not* physically Reacher (Also I hated what they did with the kid storyline in the movie, the book was much better.... ahh such a Listy thing to say!) Happy November 18th everyone!!!

If you don't know that my #autobuyauthor is Lee Child then YOU DON'T KNOW JACK! I used to have many auto buys but I wasn't getting to them until they were in paperback or on the remainder table. So now it's only Jack. #marchintoreading

@BookBabe & I are at the movies to see the next Jack Reacher movie! Tom Cruise should never have been chosen to play him (Dolph Lundgren would be my choice, hello!), but I'm too big of a JR fan to miss this 😊. Got a Coke Icee this time, but my favorite is the Blue Raspberry one. Anyone see this movie yet?

BookBabe 😊 8y
Cinfhen Love your choice of snacks ❤️😋👍🏻 8y

JSW Agreed re Tom Cruise!! I imagine Peter Coyote. 8y
Melkyl We went to see Dr. Strange today. It was very entertaining. I was hooked the entire time. 8y
Reviewsbylola Enjoy! 8y
DrexEdit @MrBook i couldn't agree more about Tom Cruise. I haven't seen any Reacher movies because of that. Color me spoiled but at least Dolph Lundgren would have been the right size! 8y
ClairesReads Just went to see it on Monday, I totally agree re Tom Cruise- such a poor choice! What did you think of the film? I wasn't super impressed with all the significant changes they made from the novle 8y
Alfoster Films ok, but LOVE the books📚📚📚! 8y
Kaylamburson Omg that popcorn looks so good!! 🍿 and I want rasinettes now, too!! 8y
BookBoggart I haven't read the books. As an avid movie goer I prefered the first one. I found this new one, lacking. 8y
Kappadeemom #TinyTom is NOT Reacher' 8y
fmcgeough Yeah. Tom Cruise wrong but I don't know any known actor that fits. The physically imposing beast of a guy combined with insightful intelligence and wit is hard to cast. 8y
wintercherry I always imagined Reacher more like a younger Liam Neeson. 8y
Readingrobin We enjoyed the film. Easier for me since I've never read it and I can't stop being a fan of Tom Cruise. 8y
yayeahyeah I liked the film a lot - great pace! I don't mind Cruise, despite him being nothing like Reacher is described in the books. 8y
MrBook @Cinfhen All @BookBabe 's ☺️👍🏻. @Sarahr875 Where the heck do you live 😜😂?! @JSW 😊🙌🏻!!! @Melwilk Ooh, that looks good 😊👍🏻! @Reviewsbylola Thank you 😁! @DrexEdit 😎👏🏻🙌🏻👍🏻👌🏻!! @ClairesReads I think it is around 90% different from the book. I prefer the book in this case because of the character differences and the plot worked better for me in the book. This movie was very Bourne-esque for me. Good action, but disposable. 8y
MrBook @Alfoster 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻!!! @Kaylamburson Then my job here is done 😂😎👌🏻! @BookBoggart I can understand that 😊👍🏻. Both installments have their own merits, the first having more of a fresh aura about it. @Kappadeemom 😁👏🏻🙌🏻! The JR franchise of movies would have been perfect for a fresh face to make his mark in the Hollywood cannon, much like Bond did for Connery. To bad, right 😕? 8y
MrBook @fmcgeough In terms of size, age, general demeanor, and ability, I agree with you completely 😊👍🏻. Perfect opportunity squandered for one of the thousands and thousands of members in the Guild to show us what can be done via a fresh face *sighs*. @wintercherry I can see that 😊👍🏻. @Readingrobin TC is a fine actor, no doubt about it. When you read the books, you'll have a fresh story each time, lol, kind of like Bourne for me after the movies. 8y
MrBook @yayeahyeah It's a great pace, and intense, I agree! The beginning was fantastic! LC has a point in that film and book are two different mediums, but when one becomes endeared to a character and the series, one can't help but grimace with a critical eye, lol. Can you imagine the protesting that would have ensued has the Harry Potter movies veered an inch from the books though? Obviously, the medium-transition can be done and done well. 8y
LaurenAsh Totally agree about Tom Cruise! When I heard that casting choice I was like, 'huh?' 🤔 8y
ClairesReads Yeah I totally agree- I thought it would be quite a good movie because I liked the plot of the novel so much- they totally butchered it 8y
Sarahr875 @MrBook a tiny town in Utah 😂 our theatre is locally owned and needs some help. 8y
minkyb I am in love with Jack Reacher. I am also in love with Tom Cruise in most movies. But he isn't Reacher and the whole time I'm sitting watching the movies that is what I am thinking. SO, I'll just stick with the books. 8y
Procrastireader I don't have a problem with the book/movie height differential. I like Cruise in the role--he has a great balance of intensity and humor that suits the character. I also haven't read this book yet, so I won't be offended by changes. After I vote Tues, it'll either be this or Dr. Strange--or maybe both! 8y
MrBook @LaurenAsh ???! @ClairesReads So totally different ? *sighs*. Why attempt to make a wagon wheel rounder, ya know? @Sarahr875 Ohh boy ☺️! @minkyb Can't blame you one bit. He did the left-eyebrow arch thing in just about every scene in the movie, and that's all he's got. Give me a 6'5" Clint Eastwood any day in Reacher's role. @Procrastireader ???! Want to see Dr. Strange too! 8y

I went to see the new Jack Reacher and it was fantastic, just what you want in an action film. Different to the books but still enjoyable

jpmcwisemorgan I like the Jack Reacher movies! I'm going to have to see if I can squeeze this one in. 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag I saw this one tonight too! I do enjoy Tom Cruise beating people up 😂 - I was a little disappointed that no frying pans were used in the kitchen scene... 8y
Dragon There's a fun clip of Tom Cruise on James Corden doing Tom's movie career in 9 minutes @jpmcwisemorgan and @thegirlwiththelibrarybag, it's funny especially the Reacher bit 😂 8y

Lee Child never fails to deliver with Jack Reacher in my opinion. This was a re-read before I see the film (even though I hate Tom Cruise!) Love a bit of throwback to the army. Still a great read the second time around.

asiriusreader Same! As in I hate Tom Cruise too!! Good to know that the novels are worth a try. 8y
ClairesReads @asiriusreader definitely worth reading- I love them 8y
Joreads I saw the movie over the weekend not to bad even with Tom Cruise / what were they thinking? The books are a good read 8y
