Extremely compelling true crime. This story has all the analysis, a bit of celeb scandal, some interesting discussion about the privilege associated with pro sport, weighed against some problematic health consequences, all of which are linked closely to the investigation into two crimes. Told in classic Patterson, bite size style, this is a propulsive read. I recommend it.
All-American Murder is a interesting and thought-provoking non-fiction account of the life of Aaron Hernandez. This story is not a typical James Patterson thriller. The writing was good but not quite as descriptive as his typical novels. The story is extremely sad and frustrating. The book made it difficult to feel any sympathy for Hernandez. https://www.bluestockingreviews.com/post/all-american-murder
My pick for #underrated is this book by Patterson. A lot of folks eye roll at the mention of his name, but I enjoy his non-fiction books a lot.
This case always fascinates me and makes me sad. It makes me wonder how much harm we‘re doing as a society by idolizing athletes when they‘re so young.
I am not a football fan, so much so that I had never even heard of Aaron Hernandez, but I loved this book! It was fast-paced, interesting, and made me think about the unique sadness of someone who has an incredible amount of potential and decides to waste it. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes true crime, football, or just a good story.
I‘ll be honest with you guys... one thing I love about traveling are airport newsstands that have books 😍 I think it‘s very rare I leave the airport without one! Lol
This one is stunning. Nonfiction by James Patterson about the enigma that was Aaron Hernandez. You do not need to enjoy football to read this.
Good book. I don‘t usually read non fiction but I love Patterson and the subject matter was interesting to me. There were no great revelations but lots of information. I also liked the way the authors just told the story without adding their own opinions. Once in a while, they asked a question but never wanted you to feel sorry for condemn him!!! They left that up to the readers.
I wasn't sure if I would like this one or not, I had no idea who Aaron Hernandez even was & being from the UK, I have absolutely no knowledge on the NFL..
I actually found it to be a very interesting read, I could follow Aarons story and be given actual facts along the way.. Fantastic, as always Patterson..
Overall All-American Murder was a fascinating read and I flew through it within a day or so. Football is my favorite sport and I follow the NFL pretty regularly, however I was totally unaware of the tumultuous background of Aaron Hernandez. Patterson takes you through Hernandez‘s trouble-filled days from high school, all the way to the end of his unfortunate life and it truly is eye-opening.
Hiya Litsy.. 😊
Halfway through this now.. Been struggling for reading time lately.. 🙄
Anyway, I'm enjoying it.. Never heard of the guy before reading this as NFL ain't a huge thing here in the UK.. lol
Hey Litsy.. 😀 I am still alive.. Just been busy with Easter & stuff..
Taking a break from Linwood Barclay due to being unable to get my hands on the next book in the Promise Falls Trilogy..
I started reading this a couple days ago.. So far so good.. 😊
Before reading this book I didn‘t know much about Aaron Hernandez. Based on things I had seen or heard, I thought he had a brain injury that caused him to commit the crimes he did. Even though he did have a brain injury, I believe Hernandez was mean, crazy at times, and felt he was a god. There was no excuse for what Hernandez did, plain and simple. After reading this book, I have a better understanding of his crimes.
I find it ironic that Aaron Hernandez was a fan of James Patterson‘s novels, especially considering that James Patterson and Alex Abromavich wrote about his life.
I was fascinated by this case as it played out live, primarily bc one of my best friends in college actually knew Hernandez from HS in CT and as a huge Patriots fan she was stoked when he got drafted. I'm not a fan of Patterson's fiction style but figured I'd give this a shot. Conclusion: I'm not a fan of Patterson's nonfiction style either, so dry. It was informative though, there were a lot of nuggets about his violent past that I'd never heard.
I love how James Patterson felt the need to point out that Aaron Hernandez was a fan of his books. A smidge self serving, no? 😂
A couple of my library holds came in! They're polar opposites and I'm excited for both ?? #libraryhaul
I'm proud of myself for continuing to stick to my book buying ban! (BOTM was the one exception I allowed myself so that wasn't a slip up). With library books coming in, it's just the "new" variety I need to infuse my already large TBR with fresh blood so to speak. I'm definitely not hurting for great books to read ??
Tuesday like a Monday and there is just not enough coffee magic happening. Thankfully I have some good books with me. #ReadingSavesMySanity

Oh, Thanksgiving Day football, how I miss you. Here in CO the season is already over, which is just wrong if you ask me. My EP Townies play the LaSalle Rams in the oldest continuing football rivalry in Rhode Island. But I digress. Jumping into this; so far it is compulsively readable and interesting.
Mind you my dad bought all my James Patterson books because those are from my teen years smh 🤦🏽♀️
First finish of the #24in48 !! Mind you, I was almost finished when I got up this morning. This book was insanely interesting and although I‘m not a Patriots fan by any stretch of the imagination, it was cool to see names that I knew. Totally passing this on to my football loving Uncle.
Does Work not know that it‘s #24in48 ?! Le sigh. I shall do my 8 hours and then probably have a nap before joining all of you wonderful Littens! At least I can read on my lunch haha.
I'm intrigued by this new true crime about Aaron Hernandez! I'll never understand how someone who has absolutely everything going for them can make such horrible decisions and throw it all away, it'll be interesting to see a more complete reporting of this case.
Side note: I'm not a huge Patterson fiction fan, so I'm doubly intrigued to see if I enjoy his true crime style.
