The 8th Confession
The 8th Confession | James Patterson, Maxine Paetro
22 posts | 88 read | 18 to read
As San Francisco's most glamorous millionaires mingle at the party of the year, someone is watching--waiting for a chance to take vengeance on Isa and Ethan Bailey, the city's most celebrated couple. Finally, the killer pinpoints the ideal moment, and it's the perfect murder. Not a trace of evidence is left behind in their glamorous home. As Detective Lindsay Boxer investigates the high-profile murder, someone else is found brutally executed--a preacher with a message of hope for the homeless. His death nearly falls through the cracks, but when reporter Cindy Thomas hears about it, she knows the story could be huge. Probing deeper into the victim's history, she discovers he may not have been quite as saintly as everyone thought. As the hunt for two criminals tests the limits of the Women's Murder Club, Lindsay sees sparks fly between Cindy and her partner, Detective Rich Conklin. The Women's Murder Club now faces its toughest challenge: will love destroy all that four friends have built? The exhilarating new chapter in the Women's Murder Club series, The 8th Confession serves up a double dose of speed-charged twists and shocking revelations as only James Patterson can. And remember, this is the only Murder Club episode of the year.

I was trying to start this series from #1 but the earliest book I could find on Libby was #8. We find the 4 friends of the Women‘s Murder Club in the midst of solving 2 cases: someone is killing the rich and elite in San Francisco in a mysterious way, and an allegedly ‘saintly‘ homeless man has been murdered…

Has anyone read this series? Can I read the 8th one without reading the previous 7? Don‘t get me started on why someone would pick a middle-of-a-series book for a blind date book box🙄

TrishB You can but you just don‘t get the full back story of the women really. But the actual crime stories aren‘t interlinked. Saying that I can never read out of order 🤷‍♀️ 4y

This is my favourite one yet! I enjoyed the criminal being a woman who was taking revenge. Then the second crime challenges the nature of the homeless culture, I found this crime to be really insightful.

I am done book number 2 for #MayMadness. The books was pretty short, so I plover through it while snacking on popcorn, and sorting through my bookshelf.

I love this series, and was so pleased to find out that they made a movie years ago for the first book in the series “1st to Die”. I am definitely going to check that out, after I read one or two more in the series. They‘re just so good!

I should probably sleep soon. 😅

Liatrek I didn‘t know there was a movie for the first book😱 will have to look that up. 6y
Clwojick @Liatrek Yeah! I have about 20-25 of his books on my shelf that I haven‘t read yet, and I wanted to double check if any worked for this weeks #booktomovie theme, and there‘s actually quite a few. Two from the Alex cross series, Suzanne‘s letter to Nicholas, Sunday‘s at Tiffany‘s, and Miracle on the 17th Green. (edited) 6y

I'm traveling tomorrow and Friday, and this is the first of 5 books I'm bringing with me! I hope to read 8 and 9 in 2018 so I can read 10 as my pop sugar book with a wedding in it! #goals

This was a nice quick read. I like reading this series because it‘s quick and kind of gets to the point but a lot of times the writing is really lacking in the plot has some holes.

ElisabethRose I have always loved listening to books while I go to sleep and while I'm in the shower. I also like to listen to then while I clean. 6y
NotLiketheRoad @ElisabethRose I love listening while I clean, it makes the work go by so much faster! I always try to listen while I go to sleep but then my dreams get weird and I forget where I left off. 😂 6y

I liked this book. I am reading this series as buddy reads with a good friend I met on Goodreads. I love how short the chapters are 😄
