Of course a guilty pleasure! Last part of my 3 week book line up!
Of course a guilty pleasure! Last part of my 3 week book line up!
I have 30 minutes before my first conference call, so I can get a little bit of reading done!
I love this book. The writing was kind of strange to me (third person, in present tense. I don‘t think I‘ve read too many books like that), but the story was fantastic.
I really enjoyed this book. I happened across it at my local library and I‘m glad I picked it up. It kept me wanting more and I had no idea who the killer was until the very end. I will definitely be reading other books by this author!
⭐⭐
This book was a let down. The plot and storyline had potential but the twists fell flat and were too predictable. I also felt as the the writing itself was...off. Sort of...jumpy, I guess is the best word I can think of. It just didn't flow nicely.
This was part suspense novel, part women's fiction. The plot was clever, there are lots of twists and turns, but the ending was too quick, it felt like i was missing an important part of the story. If your looking for a easy, quick read, then The Other Widow is that book.
As a thriller this was incredibly disappointing. It was pretty slow but there was just enough to keep me hanging on to the end. The ending was boring (lame) and I feel duped by the marketing. It felt more like women's fiction with elements of suspense thrown in just to appeal to a wider audience. I wish I could get back my wasted time.
Super predictable almost to the point I wondered if I read this book before!
Book club selection this month. We all agreed that this wasn't as good as her last book. There was so much going on and a lot left unresolved in the end. Meh. (At least the wine pairing was good!)
Maybe ...if you go into it expecting it to be a character study of the things women go through and how they handle it. #marchintoreading #marchmadness
Meh. I picked this up because it was marketed as suspense. It's more of a women's fiction dealing with infidelity. Not my cup of tea.
Bookmail!!! I won this on Facebook and it came today! So excited!! Thank you, @WilliamMorrow 💖
Lots of layers to uncover, plus twists & turns that kept me second-guessing my conclusions throughout the book. Told from the POV of 3 women when a car wreck takes the life of Joe: Dorrie (mistress), Karen (wife) & Maggie (investigator) & it looks like it wasn't an accident. My full review w/recipe for Earl Grey Hot Chocolate inspired by the book on blog post (link below). Also, I got an extra HB copy I'm giving away on the post-stop by to enter!
The whole reason for my current sleep deprivation!! I cannot put it down!!!
It was a long, long week and since there will be extroverting & being festive required of me tomorrow night, tonight is comprised of one of my current reads, mac-n-cheese from a package, jammies & general mindless coach potato behavior. #wildfridaynight
My night. A book and a blanket. 😊 All I need now is a cup of tea. ☕
#tbrtuesday My TBR this week along with finishing The Underground Railroad on audiobook and a couple of e-books on my Kindle. The Other Widow is for a book tour review & Dark Matter I wanted to get started for @litsybookclub

Our heroine decides to make a run for it... and I'm wondering how much longer can I read at my desk going unnoticed? 📚 Anyone reading a good #thriller these days?
The hand turkeys make another appearance! New paperbacks hot off the press (and on sale in December!). What are you reading over Thanksgiving?
Day18 #photoadaynov16 #headlesscovers Why do I ever doubt the over abundance of my book shelves? I couldn't think of any headless covers, but I looked around and found all of these--headless or partially headless--including the new book for review that this post is tagged under. #bookquilt

This book! I had so many thoughts while listening to this! The characters are very well-developed, and the plot is nicely woven. Twisty, but not unpredictable. I might have preferred the ending with a few more loose ends, especially with these leading ladies! You can't wrap up that much crazy.
Just finished this book and ultimately I didn't care about two of the women, and could only muster mild interest and enthusiasm for Maggie. Kind of a jumbled mess of genres. And when the small twist arrived, I still didn't care because I didn't connect with the characters.
