Cinque quarti d'arancia
Cinque quarti d'arancia | Joanne Harris
37 posts | 67 read | 24 to read

Found this book in the holiday rental I‘m staying at. OMG it is amazing. Characterisation is off the charts, as is scene setting. I really feel for the main characters because of how well their back stories are laid out. Lovely piece of historical fiction set in a small French town during German Occupation in WW2. I‘ve not read Chocolat (the authors famous book) but I‘m going to seek it out now. I predict a 5 star read here.

Both hubby and I fully appreciated this book. I chose Berry Clafoutis from the foods mentioned in the novel. #foodandlit #foodandlit2022 I admit, I wasn‘t going to but after finishing, I did order the authors family cookbook.

Really enjoying the tagged book for #foodandlit #france. It has beautiful prose and gorgeous scenery despite the depressing topics of war, poverty, and illness. But also so many food references to choose from to make. While I was considering a galette Breton or a fish stew, right now I am leaning toward Berry Clafoutis! Hope I finish in time to cook before the end of the month as I am traveling next weekend.

Catsandbooks Yum!! 2y

Final entry for #7Days7Books #7Tage7Buecher

Joanne Harris is another of my absolute favourite authors. I love the unsettling & unexpected creepiness in her writing, as well as the joyfulness, and the appreciation of the everyday magic of food! All her books are amazing, but this one stuck in my mind for weeks after I finished reading.

I originally received this as an ARC and then my work life started to impede my ability to participate in such things in the way I once did. So I just now got to this while recovering from surgery. I‘m over half way through and enjoying it so much. It is very well written and engaging despite having a quite somber story line. Will definitely finish this before heading back to work at the end of the week.

Recovering from surgery last week and sick with bronchial ick. And possibly looking at another surgery next week. I‘m tired and wiped out. Lots of reading, Litsy, Goodreads, and YouTube going on. And holding cats. This is Miss. Pearl Girl. She has a misery too. Little bit of cold in her eye. So we convalesce together. I looked down and she was doing a big blep. #yougogirl #ugh #tootiredtoshower #ugh

Someone recommended this book to me years ago but it was never available in store when I would check! Just started it and oh my goodness it‘s beautiful, I can‘t explain it, it‘s just so beautiful, I‘m only on chapter 2, must go to work today but I wish I could just step in this book!

Pollen decided she would help me take a Litsy photo tonight. It just so happens that my last bath fizzy is orange and ginger, matches the book I am starting, and apparently makes a great cat toy. #catsoflitsy

julesG Cute cat with a really great name! 6y
TEArificbooks @julesG thank you, she named herself. When we got her as a rescue kitten we noticed she was sweet as honey. So we started listing terms related to honey and every time we said Pollen she would meow and rub on us. A couple years ago my mom got a tortie cat too and named her Honey. 6y
julesG That's a wonderful story. 6y

Here‘s my #fivestack—I wanted to do a stack of five books with “five” in the title, but I discovered that I don‘t have five of those. So I went a different direction... 😁 #readingresolutions

I read Chocolat and The Girl With No Shadow years ago and I really enjoyed them. It's high time I read another Harris novel and this title is on my list.

Ms_T I also read Chocolat years ago and I felt so grown up! 😂 7y
