4/5⭐ 3 stars for the sometimes simplistic/misleading coverage of topics; 5 stars for the practical guidance on developing a healthier, happier mindset. We need more books that lift the veil from how almost every societal belief is based not in science but in predatory capitalism. #bookspinbingo

This was good, affirming read. Not a perfect read, and I‘m not sure I‘m 100% in with everything she says, but it is a very body positive read and I will take a lot of ideas from it. 4⭐️ #bookspinbingo

I am reading this one right now! It's amazing! I have battled with disordered eating since my late teens. I threw out my scales at Christmas! And then after listening to Caroline Dooner's Podcast and following her on Instagram, I thought it was time to get the book! I am NOT disappointed! So good!

Ok, week 1+ of #BFC21- things started off a bit rocky, but now I‘m embracing that I need to give myself a lot more space and grace in this new year, and manage my expectations... a lot.
1) I haven‘t finished a book yet, but I‘m pretty deep into a few right now including the tagged book so hopefully soon. 2) So far, I‘ve been keeping it dry this January (which was no small feat this past week).
3) Hiked yesterday and today to get caught up.

1. The biggest change for me was letting go of family members and friends who have proven themselves to be racist and unfeeling. It breaks my heart, but I‘m trying to break the cycles.

2. I learned that as long as you keep the people around you that love you, life will be just fine.❤️

The overall message is to listen to your body (eat when you‘re hungry), move in ways that you enjoy, and stop beating yourself up because either you can‘t stick to a diet or it doesn‘t work for you. Too many people obsess about their weight and not their health. The book promotes health, not weight loss. Basically it‘s telling you to find your own way to health and happiness, not follow someone else‘s path, even hers.

So far, I‘ve found, as the author promised, that at first I was eating stuff not on “a plan” of some kind and maybe not traditionally healthy, but it settled down. Letting go of that restriction mentality actually has me eating like a normal human. Being out of that cycle feels so much healthier. 👍🏼😊👍🏼 5y

⭐️⭐️ “Life is too short to obsess over food.” True, but a vast oversimplification. I was initially intrigued by the “Fuck it Diet” concept but just can‘t get on board with eating intuitively (or whatever the fit, thin Dooner wants to call it). Sounds like a bunch of hippy dippy baloney to me. Some folks will buy into this. I call bunk. Honored a second star because I respect the underlying message of self love. Still a “pan,” though.

Ashley_Nicoletto Also, side note on this- I agree that if I eat what I crave I‘d eventually crave healthy foods is ridiculous. Because I know myself well and I crave cheeseburgers and donuts. I do not like broccoli. Still eat it like three days a week. 🤣 5y

LibrarianJen I love LEGO movie! Also if I ate what I craved it would be pizza, tacos and ramen. I mean, I guess tomato sauce is a vegetable and taco topping and kimchi are all veggies, but I rarely crave salads. (edited) 5y

Ahhhh... this book! Dooner takes diet culture, food fear, body shame and all that other bull and tells it to f*ck right off. Diets don‘t work- not any of them. And she doesn‘t have some slimy version of a diet she calls a “way of life” that she‘s shoving down readers‘ throats. Nope. Radical. Scary. I want to put all my eggs in her basket but it could mean I am NEVER skinny. I‘m torn. She makes so much sense... and has the research to back it up.🤯

1. Can‘t wait to read the tagged book cuz I‘ve been in a f*ck it kinda mood lately.

Clwojick If you have an iPhone or Samsung you should be able to download the Fitbit on your phone. Even if you don‘t have a Fitbit, it can calculate your steps and routes based on where your phone goes throughout the day ♥️💪🏻🙌🏻 5y

A friend of mine highly recommended this, calling it things like life changing. maybe I‘m just not in the mental space to accept it right now, but it‘s not something I am ready to try. I see the basis behind it and can accept that, but I have not always been overweight, so it‘s hard for me to buy into the idea that my body just naturally wants to weigh 70lbs more than it did 10 years ago. I also think her “research” is highly cherry picked.

OrangeMooseReads I‘ve always been larger and/or over weight for the most part, the idea that my body naturally wants to be like that seems a bit odd to me. If my body wanted to be over weight it wouldn‘t be uncomfortable with the added pounds. 5y
QueenJen I've always been larger or over weight. I quit worrying about dieting when I realized I like chips and chocolate cake to much to say no. I am what I am regardless of what I weigh. I feel good, I'm confident and I try to be a kind person. Food isn't my issue. My soul is. 5y

I‘ve long been a fan of Dooner‘s online writing about her anti-diet (which, BTW, she named ages ago, before half of the self-help books published had “f*ck” in the title!! 😛). This is a great summary of her common-sense yet deep and holistic approach. Good inclusion of scientific data, and excellent thoughts about health at any size, the perils of dieting-induced stress, and how counterproductive restricting or demonizing foods is. (Audio = 💯)
