My first reaction: she wrote something OTHER than 50 Shades spin-off? 😳It‘s classic jet-set contemporary setup set in England. Rich Lord, poor girl...one or both of them needs saving. No character development built up just a change from one chapter to the next, bit whiny, bit Stockholm Syndromy...less vivid sex scenes than previous books it felt like. Almost like a Dom/Sub but not quite - almost as if she‘s trying to get away from that.

I enjoyed the story but the plot didn't blow me away.

Another book that I‘ve seen all over Litsy in the past few months. I had the chance to scoop up the audiobook with the new “skip the line” feature on Libby. Although I wasn‘t sure what to expect, seeing that it was written by the author who wrote 50 shade, I wasn‘t let down. I really enjoyed it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Writing is bad. The story was good if it had been written better i would've enjoyed it more. It was VERY hard to make it though but i wanted to finish it. Its definitely atleast 150 or more pages to long. I dont know who the hell the editor is but come on you've got to be kidding me. This was worse than fsog. I thought it would be better glad i didnt buy it .

No this is not 50 Shades and no her writing has not improved. In short the Lord of the Manor who sticks his c##k in anything falls in love with his illegal immigrant virgin Albanian cleaner. I have read similar tropes written by other authors that did it much better. I gave it two stars as it wasn't complete rubbish and helped me switch my brain off when I couldn't sleep as you don't have to think when you read this.

So what did you all think of this? Did anyone actually read this? This was loaned to me by the same coworker that loaned me The Chemist. I'll hardly every pass up a book. On one hand this was entertaining, but on the other hand the writing sucked. It made me cringe in parts due to the dialogue. I still refuse to read Fifty Shades...

Ok, I‘m diving in. I don‘t bail on books often, but my journey with the 50 Shades trilogy ended about 1/3 into book 2 with no desire to complete. But a decade has past and I‘m hopeful that all those books sales gave Ms James the time and inclination for some advanced writing seminars. ...Eeegads, so far, I‘m rather enjoying this - although this time I‘m going with the audiobook.

Read most of this from my spot on the deck. It was a very quick read but I enjoyed it. A lot of drama and a pretty predictable ending but it was a good book for cottage reading.

When I was first reading this, I was so thrown because it just wasn‘t what I was expecting after reading they Grey books...but I was pleasantly surprised that it had a pretty good story :)

Pretty much what I expected - entertaining but not earth shattering. I'm not sure why so many people have their panties in a twist over it. Are there better romances out there? Obviously. But is it horrible? Definitely not. I actually thought it was WAY more romantic than Fifty Shades (not that that's a very high bar, lol). Just a bit too long and the end felt rushed.

(Also trying come to terms with tomorrow being my last day of vacation 😭)

A few too many obstacles but overall enjoyable ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I‘m hoping the author didn‘t mean to project the thought that shy, timid women are preferred to a woman who knows what she wants and isn‘t afraid to ask for it but that‘s the vibe I just got.

I know that this book has dismal reviews, but people also hated 50 Shades and I was entertained by that just fine (no, the writing wasn't great but I was entertained nonetheless). Anywho - The Mister is currently $2.99 on e-book formats in case anyone else (like me) is curious about it #ebookdeals

Nope nada. As soon as the main character sees his true love licking her lips and getting turned on, i knew it is going to be a rehash of Fifty Shades and im not going through 500 pages of that again.

The library audio was available, so listened while putting in overtime today. I just had to know.

Giving this a go because I genuinely wanted her to be a captivating writer. 🤦🏻‍♀️
