Second installment of Gotham Academy. As always, LOVE the art. 😍
Second installment of Gotham Academy. As always, LOVE the art. 😍
I was so confused starting this volume a few years after reading the first but a quick re-read of vol 1 made for an easy transition into Maps's epic poem 😂 this series is creepy and quirky enough to feel satisfying even though i think I'm missing a connection to the greater DC universe (re: Arkham escapees?) Maps continues to be everything i wanted in a grade school bff 😍 #mommyreads #DC #comics
This was great, though I am a little confused about the ending. Maps is still my favorite character. She makes me laugh out loud!

Fun second volume of the series. More supernatural creatures, including a werewolf and a half bat half boy (not to be confused with Batman). I enjoy reading this series and plan on continuing it.
Today's lunch break book. I can't say I'm loving these comics, but they're a fun, easy read. I've got a few students I think will enjoy them.
My #LitsyPartyOfOne TBR is mostly comic books. I also have Every Heart a Doorway and The Lottery Plus One checked out from the library. It's gonna be a good weekend. 😁
I finally found time to read some of the comics I checked weeks ago. This volume was just as enjoyable as the first. It was nice to see more longstanding Batman characters make appearances. I'm eager to see what'll happen in volume 3. #comics
Olive's backstory progresses, more mysteries and thrilling action scenes, plus new characters introduce themselves with fun connections to the Gotham we thought we knew. Fun stuff! Love the dark art. And now going in search of book 3!
These days are somewhat busy and I don't have a lot of reading time, but I'm almost always able to squeeze in a comic book or two.
A definite pick but it didn't seem as strong as the first to me. I wasn't in love with the beginning -- the foreshadow then the solely Maps and Damian story. I liked it but I wish the placement in the timeline was different. Also, the last story felt rushed and abrupt. Still, I'm looking forward to more mysteries and watching Olive figure out her family secrets.
4 ⭐️. Y'all - I am officially old. Because even though I super love the art in this series, LOOK AT THAT SKIRT. It is a *school uinform* skirt. Can we talk about how Olive can possibly sit down in that thing?! It's not the only instance. I really dig this series, but COME ON. Can we not?
Aside from that annoyance, I really enjoyed this. Loving the Scooby Gang vibe. Maps is the best. Looking forward to the Lumberjanes crossover!
What a week, guys. I'm trying to get out of my reading slump with a fun graphic novel series and then hopefully I can return to my regularly scheduled reading.
This was so good??? Holy shit??? This is such a good series??????? #wow #ineededagoodcomic #goodjobgothamacademy #everyonegoreadthis
This story is fantastic so far. All of the characters are interesting and have hella cool hair.
Another great volume for this series! I'm interested in the mystery surrounding Olive's family and I love all the other little mysteries that they talk about but aren't the priority. It gives the reader the idea that there is a lot to this world and this set of friends. Maps is definitely my favorite and I love her song at the beginning.
Lota of fun!

#booktober Day 14 Gotham Academy is a prestigious school in Gotham City, full of secrets and mysteries. Maps is such a great character! I look forward to more volumes of this comic. #bookssetinaschool
Much of the charm from volume one is back but it's obscured by poor plotting and terrible panel transitions. Damian Wayne, who was introduced so dramatically at the end of the first volume, is just as dramatically dismissed in this one. Confusing panels, poorly paced action, and a muddled plot all contribute to this volume being pretty poor. It manages to come together in the end, but I worry about future volumes.
I can't wait for the next volume! I love Maps and her enthusiasm. 🤓
*Must find the crossover with Lumberjanes now!
I still think this comics series in adorable, but this volume was a little all over the place. I am hoping that the next volume/arc is a little smoother.
A solid read. I enjoyed volume 1 slightly more, and I'm totally digging the new Gotham Academy & Lumberjanes crossover comics. Scenes like this really had me going. 😂😂
Readathon time so far: 50:24
This trade collects issues 7-12 of Gotham Academy. In this collection, Olive learns more about her mom and her family. The friendships and detective club are some of my favorite aspects of this series. This is a great series and a lot of fun. I highly recommend it. Cannot wait to read more.
Sorta DC: The Next Generation, for younger or more lighthearted readers. Pretty cute. It's Becky Cloonan, you know the art is tops.
High-key in love with Mingjue Helen Chen's art 😍😍😍
If you loved Lumberjanes and are looking for what to read next, Gotham Academy is for you! A super lovable band of teenage characters in a spooky, Hogwartsish atmosphere solving supernatural mysteries. You don't need to have any prior knowledge about the DC Universe, it stands alone. SO GOOD!
Found the story telling a little jerky, but overall I really enjoyed both volumes (1&2). Loads of fun.
<3. That is all. (Seriously, this is a sort of gothic Lumberjanes, and it's actually having a crossover with Lumberjanes that will be amazing.)
Vol. 2 was even more intriguing than the first! Again, I'm in love with the art and with the mystery that drives Olive's story forward - but most of all, I love Maps and the friendship she and Olive share!
