Little Free Library spoils from my long lost summer holidays 😭
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 117

I started reading this and realized that I already read these in Broken Throne. Yay! Finished another series!
Title: Cruel Crown by Victoria Aveyard
Genre: Young adult fiction, dystopian
Started: 12-12-2019
Finished: 12-17-2019
Pages: 208
Summary: Queen Song is a story about the previous Singer queen, Coriane Jacos, and her downfall. Coriane came from one of the noble houses, but they were quite poor compared to the others. She was a Singer, meaning that she can control people by singing and saying what she wants them to do. She never used this power -
This was my evening ❤️ Coriane's story was sad and Farley's was ok. Worth the read though if you like the series.
Neither Queen Song nor Steel Scars absolutely wowed me, but they definitely gave important background into the world of Red Queen and developed Queen Coriane and Farley into much more three-dimensional characters. As such, it is still a must-read for anyone delving into the series, even if the stories aren‘t quite as good as Aveyard‘s full novels.
Read it if you like the Red Queen series. The first novella, Queen Song, was great to learn more about Queen Corianne's story and was told in a traditional narrative manner. The second novella, Steel Scars, was told through a series of military reports. I did not find that method great over audiobook because it kept repeating the header information. I didn‘t like Steel Scars and didn't learn a lot I cared about from the characters in that novella.
I think the second book is definitely better than the first one.
I would say I enjoyed it slightly more than the first two books, but still not what I had hoped for from this series! I‘m pretty disappointed in it.
This was ok, I enjoyed the first story better than the second. Looking forward to reading Glass Sword.
This book was slow for me... it gave backgrounds of some characters that will hopefully help later on in the series. This book shouldve been able to be finished in a day. It took me forever... 3 out of 5 🌟
Reading on the beach... is there anything better? I think not. 😍📚🏝
Started this today. I was so excited, but honestly I'm already a little disappointed... #cruelcrown #victoriaaveyard #fantasy
Do you guys write??? If yes, how do you get inspired?

I expected quite more from this story. I'll just say that this book was...average?? Okay, I really liked learning about Queen Coriane, but the story about Farley just wasn't interesting for me at all. That's why just 3.5 stars...

I typically am not a big fan of novellas that explore back stories of minor characters for two reasons. First, because they are usually unnecessary, and second because they are usually only released to make money, and it shows. The second story in this book that follows Farley, Steel Scars, lived up to my expectations. But the first story, Queen Song, which follows Coriane, actually added something to the original plot and really touched me. B-

Finally reading Cruel Crown before I finally read Glass Sword 😂

Two wonderful stories from the world of Norta. A quick, fun read that explored the backstories of a few characters from the first book in the series. Both tales were fun to read, even though the first one broke my heart a little.
In need of a quick read right now, so about to dig into this one!
A night out isn't the same without sneaking in some book shopping haha! Can't wait to read these!
Done with this one!! Time to grab something to eat, then on to the next! #24in48 #cruelcrown
Picked this beauty up at Target yesterday. I have heard, this doesn't add to the story like much but I will be the judge of that for myself! 👑
Well, that was depressing. These stories covered the back stories to some of the minor characters in the Red Queen series. I wished a few were about Mare and had a least a light hearted story thrown in.
