Bailedbailed

I don't doubt that some readers will enjoy this read, but I found myself groaning that I had 4 hours left and took that as a sign that I should call it. I just couldn't get into this, which is disappointing because it has a lot going for it & has an ace mc. I had a lot of trouble in the start when the narration for the alien character kept putting things in human perspective so awkwardly. Overall, the writing is a bit awkward.

While this was definitely slow paced and a bit repetitive, I did enjoy reading about Ellie and Morris‘s adventure. This honestly exceeded my expectations. I only wish the story was complete. Hopefully it gets a sequel as a lot was left open and unanswered.

magyklyXdelish @AkashaVampie tagging you because you wanted to know my thoughts 🤗🤗🤗 2y
AkashaVampie Thanks sweetie for tagging me. I stacked the book also 2y

What are the odds?! The main character, Janelle, is talking about how Courduroy was the first book she read.

One of my earliest childhood memories was the very first time I ever read a book by myself without help. That book was Corduroy and it was the book that made me fall in love with reading. Again, WHAT ARE THE ODDS?!

Bailedbailed

Book and a beer 🍺
Elysian Brewing Co, Contact Haze... solid hazy IPA
The book was a miss for me, had to bail on this one. YA Sci-fi with poor writing.

A coworker borrowed this over the summer and recommended I read it. 250 pages in and I just don't care about the characters or the story... I'll probably skim the end just to know what happens.

I really enjoyed this book, I took a break from it a little over halfway through but loved it so much! I really enjoy the way it‘s written and the characters are amazing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"We are the descendants of poets and prophets." The voice is deep, mature.
"We are the keepers of time and tales," I respond.
"When the story ends."
"We die." We answer together.

They want us numb and hopeless; it's easier to roll over us that way. They want us beaten and broken, too scared to rebel.
But they don't know that rebels are made in the worst of circumstances, and even death can't stop them.
Us.

The idea of bringing stories to those in need outweighs my fear. Makes me a rebel. If I die for it... there are worse things to die for.

I liked this book so much more than I thought. It was very mysterious and at times it went a little over my head. But the overall story was sad and yet romantic. One of my favorite sci-fi reads!

This is a daring tale of a girl who risks everything to keep stories alive via a hidden library and an alien from an unfeeling culture who cannot get enough music. Both of these, and all other, forms of art are banned after the Ilori invasion, and these two team up in an unlikely pair to save Earth. I enjoyed the twists, music, and story references. This was a love letter to art, and an exploration of what the world would be without it: doomed.

This was my #bookspin for November. A YA book this size I should‘ve finished in a couple of days max. I started it on Nov 3 and only made it 1/2 in 27 days. I tried, but the story is slow and I‘m just not engaged. I kind of want to see what happens, but not enough to keep forcing myself to read it. The story isn‘t just there. So I‘m bailing and hoping for a better December #bookspin

TheAromaofBooks Sometimes I realize I haven't hardly read anything in a few days, and I usually realize it's because I'm low-key dreading/not interested in whatever book I'm currently reading. Sometimes you just gotta bail! 3y

🎧 BOTM YA from my August box.

Leaders of earth & Ilori make a mistake during 1st contact & it becomes WAR.

Ilori is 2 classes, ruling pure bloods & lower class Lab mades.

Alien Lab made boy loves music. Teenage girl loves books. Their paths cross & the adventure begins. A LOT of popular music/lyrics & stories.

There are impossibilities so if you‘re not a sci-fi fan you may not like the leaps you‘re expected to take. CUTE! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

AkashaVampie Is that the cover??? 💜💜💜 it 4y
Twainy Yes. Of course it‘s what attracted me to the book but I like corny sci-fi, music & books so surprise I liked the book. 😁 4y

I was disappointed. It‘s YA but poorly written. At least for me I suppose. To much fangirling over the books fake band and the aliens were really lame. Oh and the ending wasn‘t really an ending at all. Ugh I hate when I waste my time thinking it could get better and it fails.

The cover is beautiful & I enjoyed the science fiction, dystopian society aspects of the plotline. Also, the references to books that I love was great (Hunger Games, HP, etc.) However, that's as far as my enjoyment went. Honestly, I just wasn't the target audience here. The 14 year old, emo music loving version of myself would have loved this story though, so don't let my review sway you from wanting to read it if seems like a book you'd enjoy.

xxjenadanxx I received an arc of this months ago and have been struggling to read it ever since. 4y

If you have been following along, then this cover should not surprise anyone. The cover is in my colors at the moment and I love the back drop of the city that looks like it has been electrified, and maybe under attack. it's on my must buy list.

I do love this cover. Hopefully the publisher doesn't just print it in a slick paper and call it good. This could be lovely with some tactile qualities. Like slick words, but velvet paper, or embossing of the titles and stars.
