Bk4 of August & #Rushathon #readathon is done. Another from my deep dive into my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom this has been sitting there for about 6yrs I think. A soft Pick, the 1st in Rice‘s Werewolf duology, not the best of the genre I‘ve read but I did love the setting & atmosphere. The house, Nideck Point, sounds like my idea of a dream house. I‘d take being a wolf a few days a month to live there! The writing was a bit meh though. #Booked2023👇

A few chapters into another werewolf story, this one by Anne Rice who usually writes about vampires! It‘s really good so far, very atmospheric. Reuben is a young reporter, sent to the big house on the cliffs of the North California coast to write a story about it & the disappearance of its owner 20yrs ago. But an attack leaves him a very different man when he‘s injured after the current owner is stabbed to death & leaves him the house. #Rushathon

#WeRemember April 18 Anne Rice. I have only read 3 of her books from the Vampire Series my 3rd being read in 2021, Queen of the Damned. I would like to read her The Wolf Gift. I really enjoyed the books I have read. @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Absolutely devastated to hear the news this morning about Anne Rice's passing. Her words, characters, and stories have always been a light in the dark, and have many times made me feel less alone.

The overall story was ok and I did like Rice's interpretation of the Werewolf Mythology BUT all the characters fell flat.
I think she should of stuck with Vampires

Still trying to finish this book. Its tough as i am really not enjoying it.

Does this novel get any better.....not sure whether to carry on or bail......

Ok, so if you're an Anne Rice fan then I'd say pick this up. If you're not, maybe don't start here unless you are gaga for werewolves.
As other reviews said, holy description! I forgot what Rice's writing was like- feel like the editor could have had a heavier hand here but it wasn't so much that I turned it off. I feel the ending was more interesting than the rest of it but there was finally action and I could see multiple stories developing.

I'm wanting to read more ~spooky~ books this October as I'm already attempting to binge AHS before it's removed from Netflix so why not start with Anne Rice?

I found her take on werewolves interesting, it's different.

So love this book!! Rueben comes to a beautiful house in the woods and meets its enchanting female owner. Something happens and his life is forever changed.

I tried. I try so often with Anne Rice and it never works out. Way too much description about nothing and no story build up. I didn't even get to the werewolves. A shame; as I really want to like something from Rice.

Third #audiobook in a week! Thanks to all my fellow #Littens for convincing me to try them! I'm loving it and clearing so many books off my shelves that have been sitting there for years!

Love her Vampire Chronicles. Not so sure about this one. I was so excited that Anne Rice was getting back to her paranormalness, but... I adore descriptive authors, but it was a bit excessive and redundant here. Maybe things get better in the sequel?

I adore werewolf books. This wasn't my absolute favorite but I enjoyed it. It was an interesting spin and was well written. I'm going to read the next one if I find it used somewhere or on bookmooch. 🌟🌟🌟

My first love will always be the Mayfair witches but I fell in love with the wolves. A must read for Anne Rice fans.
