Bk9 of January2022 & #JumpStart2022 is done too! This pretty little hardcover has been on my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom since it was released in 2018🤭So glad I finally read it, it was a lot darker than I was expecting. A female line of witches on an island in the Salish Sea learn that the price of using dark magic is blood & pain. Pitting mother against daughter it‘s very grim but also beautifully written. #BookspinBingo #Pop22 #BeatTheBacklist2022👇

End of Day8😳of The Great Library Clean & we have my special editions, series & just pretty books organised and on shelves. And we have half of my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom dusted & sorted into genres. I decided on genre then alphabetical for the TBR books to make it easier for my mood reading. Probably another day, maybe a half again and it will be done! And I will NEVER let it get this out of hand again🤦🏻‍♀️ #itsnothoardingifitsbooks📚📚📚📚📚

I almost forgot this starts at midnight! I love these monthly readathons, it gives me lots of motivation to dive into my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom & lots of time to clear a few books. I‘ll be kicking off this #JoyousJanuary #readathon by the time I post this with China Mieville‘s Perdido Street Station. Hope you all join us in the first one of 2022🙌(though I won‘t be making snowmen here, just melting like one in a desert☀️)

PageShifter I am also going to participate 🤗 5mo
Andrew65 Good luck 😊👍 5mo

1. See above👆
2. Laini Taylor! I had all her books for years on my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom but only just picked up DOSAB in February then tore through them all in a week coz I loved them so much🤗
3. I tried making personalized bookmarks for my Xmas swaps! They all said they loved them but they were probably just being kind😋

#SundayFunday

ozma.of.oz I bet they were all genuinely delighted. ❤️ One of my favorite bookmarks is one a student of mine made when I worked at a junior high school. Thank you for sharing! 6mo

RainyDayReading I‘ll try to update tonight. These last few days have been so crazy I haven‘t done any totals yet. 8mo
Lizpixie Thank you for being the best captain on Litsy!(well, @Andrew65 is pretty awesome too🙌)I know I had a great time last month & read many more books off my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom than I would‘ve on my own. Now I just have to figure out how to sneak replacements past the hubby😂 8mo
Clwojick @Lizpixie oh I‘m sure you‘ll find a way! 😜😜 8mo
Lizpixie @Clwojick ah, you know me well🤗 8mo
Larkken This was so fun! Thanks so much for hosting! 8mo
Andrew65 @Lizpixie Why thank you 🤣, but I agree with you @Clwojick is awesome. Following my illness and other things I have decided to leave education at the next possible leave date (1st April) so should have more time to read and interact with everyone on Litsy. 8mo
Lizpixie @Andrew65 are congratulations or commiserations in order? How are you and your wife going with your health? My daughter is still having problems with chest pain & fatigue two months later. 8mo
Andrew65 @Lizpixie We still get tired easily and kicked off my IBS in a big way, not been as bad as this in years and same with (non alcohol rated) liver issue.Made the arthritis in my shoulder and my wife‘s knee much worse bizarrely. Hope the chest pain goes soon for your daughter. This is the first week I have been back full time. (edited) 8mo
Andrew65 @Lizpixie With the job I‘ve been in education 31 years, almost 20 years as a head teacher, I‘m 56 next month and my wife is 10 years older than me. When there was a real danger she‘d have to go into hospital with it and I had to drop her off at A + E I really made the decision that day that we had plans we wanted to do and if she had died we would never have the chance to do that. So a mixture of not feeling able to put her at risk anymore 👇 8mo
Andrew65 Which at the current time going to school everyday does (especially with the governments idiotic approach to COvID - bury your head in the sand and hope it goes away), I decided I had to leave education and take the time to do some of those things whilst we are both still able to. She is quite immobile these days with her knee so I felt now was the time for something different without putting her at great risk.👇 (edited) 8mo
Andrew65 To be honest also don‘t like the way education is heading and what I am having to ask staff to do, and especially around. COvID. Doesn‘t sit well with me so now seems the right time to leave and do some touring and try some other ways to make some money until I can access part of my pension when I am 60. I don‘t feel happy about it in some ways, in others I do. And the same I don‘t feel sad about it but in some ways I do. (edited) 8mo
Andrew65 However I am a very down to earth person and once I have made a decision I don‘t think about it or worry too much, that happens when I am trying to make a decision. It is now just what it is now the decision is made. The difficult thing will be telling people when it is made public and feeling as if I am letting people down. But I have been head at the school for over 15 years so feel I have done my time and can hold my head up high. 8mo
Andrew65 Excuse the essay. 🤣 8mo
Clwojick @Andrew65 You should definitely hold your head up high! If you‘ve made this much of an impression on the people on Litsy, who you have never met, then I am certain you‘ve changed lives and shaped futures for your students and staff. ❤️I‘m sure it will be a bittersweet moment, but I‘m proud of you for taking time for you and your wife to simply do what you‘ve always wanted to do! I applaud that decision,& I can‘t wait to hear about your adventures. 8mo
Lizpixie @Andrew65 no problem, you tell your story honey! The hubby and I have been having very similar conversations, our dream always was to buy an old van to fix up into a camper and travel Australia for a few years hitting every state and all the national parks along the way. I‘ve always dreamt of Tasmania in the south, Kakadu in the north & Broome or Margaret River in the west. And I agree with @Clwojick you be proud of who you are🙌 8mo

Challenge Me | Kris Jacen
post image

Thought I might add yet another lovely challenge to September to keep my bubbling reading slump at bay for another month! I‘m a huge SciFi reader and actually have quite a few on my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom which will fit these prompts nicely. Looks like September‘s #Bookspin list will be Horror/SciFi heavy! #LittensDressedInBlood #RoaringWolf

MidnightBookGirl I have definitely been leaning into Sci-Fi/Fantasy more these last few years! 10mo
Lizpixie @MidnightBookGirl there‘s so much top shelf SciFi being released lately, I‘ve read quite a few outstanding novels this past year🪐 10mo
TheAromaofBooks Yay!! I'm looking forward to this challenge as well!!! 10mo

I hit all my goals for the #AwesomeAugust #readathon!🎉Posting a day late coz honestly, it‘s been one of those #lockdownapathyday here. I hit all my targets of:
📚Read 6 instead of 4 books!
⏱Read 46hrs not 30hrs🥳
🧶Finished my scarf & an extra few rows of bubbas blanket🙌
👨🏻Knocked some books off #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom which made hubby happy🥰
Didn‘t manage to finish Bk6 Leviathan Wakes, but a great week. Thanks once again to our fearless leader.

Andrew65 We know all about #lockdownapathy in the U.K., plenty of experience. Well done on a brilliant Readathon 👏👏👏🙌🥳🍾🥂😍 (edited) 10mo
