I love apocalyptic fiction. This was fantastic! Scientists unwittingly release a plague of white bats on the world who hunt by noise. Horrible stuff! But not as horrible as many of the humans behaviour. How quickly they turn on each other.
I didn‘t like the ending.

Suspenseful and thrilling from the very start. It felt at times that the author was adding content simply for the shock value but one scene in particular definitely got me ugly crying.

I've been listening to this while walking the dog and it genuinely made me walk a little extra, so the dog liked it too!
It's a different take on the end of humanity, avoiding political actions or climate change, and it's a small scale survival in a huge scale event.
It's definitely worth picking up. It threatens to drag at times, but it's easy to come back to.

So, this is actually film vs film ranting. But I've seen so many things really slating the film in comparison to A Quiet Place and also claiming it copied it. However, this book was written before A Quiet Place which, other than hiring an actual deaf actor, was pretty forgettable. There's no real back story, no real progression for me. I'm not saying The Silence is a masterpeice, but I do feel critics are over-harsh. #hiredeafactors

So, I get films changing a lot of a books content in order to squeeze it into their time frame. But I always mourn when they change a location. Even more so when I learn the original is in WALES. Welsh accents are a gift from the Old Gods. But no, if American's make it, it HAS to be American. How else would their audience understand it or even want to see it??? Booooooo. Netflix, Amazon, Sky, someone make the Welsh series. And have a deaf actor?

Holy wow, what an intense read. Great #lmpbc pick! Almost horror it was so creepy and scary AF. But then I don‘t read horror so who knows 🤷‍♀️😂 Being in criminal justice and a hunter gives me a unique perspective on several parts of this story. I‘ll leave the rest of my thoughts in the journal so I don‘t spoil it!

Hubs stayed up north for one more night. I‘ll be snuggling in with cocoa and this creepy AF #lmpbc read, while Monday night football plays quietly in the background :)

I finally finished my #LMPBC selection the other day. I loved this book. It was written in a way that made they story very believable. I don't want to spoil any plot points for my group, so that's it. Read it, enjoy it, get anxiety from it.

Really enjoyed this book. There was a lot of suspense as the family try to escape the monsters Lebbon had kept it realistic with no heroics. I was constantly thinking what would I do? I felt the panic & fear as I was reading, it kept me glued to the story. Now to watch the Netflix film to see the adaptation of a British story

This is a heart racing apocalyptic horror, it's sooo good.

4/5 I picked this up after seeing it's movie be called a knock off of a quiet place, even though the book came out first. It's almost like everythibg the Quiet Place was missing, complete build up to an apocalyptic situation, told through the eyes of a family with a deaf child. The authors use of social media was well done, and it made for an incredibly visceral and interesting story of the fall of society. #scifi #horror

I completely forgor about this app, I went through a slump, got a new phone, and just lost touch with this and my bookstagram, I'm hoping to keep up and pull myself from this slump! #catsoflitsy #mentalhealthawarenessmonth

This was a rather effectively good, creepy book with creative monsters both non human and human alike.

Looking forward to the movie of it on Netflix this month.

Book 2: I loved this one. I‘m a “plague ushers in the apocalypse” kind of gal but really enjoyed this one where predators decide to eat us. Fair warning that there are two dog deaths that really messed me up 😭 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I‘m not sure I would have finished this if it weren‘t for book club #TeamHellboundHeart even though I‘d been curious about it for years. I liked the real-time unfolding of the apocalypse and picturing what a vesp might look like. I wasn‘t keen on the lack of character development and the formulaic plot.
