The Angel Experiment
The Angel Experiment: A Maximum Ride Novel | James Patterson
In James Patterson's blockbuster series, fourteen-year-old Maximum Ride, better known as Max, knows what it's like to soar above the world. She and all the members of the "flock"--Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman and Angel--are just like ordinary kids--only they have wings and can fly. It may seem like a dream come true to some, but their lives can morph into a living nightmare at any time...like when Angel, the youngest member of the flock, is kidnapped and taken back to the "School" where she and the others were experimented on by a crew of wack jobs. Her friends brave a journey to blazing hot Death Valley, CA, to save Angel, but soon enough, they find themselves in yet another nightmare--this one involving fighting off the half-human, half-wolf "Erasers" in New York City. Whether in the treetops of Central Park or in the bowels of the Manhattan subway system, Max and her adopted family take the ride of their lives. Along the way Max discovers from her old friend and father-figure Jeb--now her betrayed and greatest enemy--that her purpose is save the world--but can she?

I read an article a few months ago about this series being banned in Florida. I can‘t remember if it was in school libraries or all libraries. I was inspired to find out why. I‘m actually pretty inspired to read every banned book I can because I hate censorship! This wasn‘t exactly great literature but it was fun and I want to find out what happens next. And I want to piss off the censors as much as possible.

For the year 2005 I selected this title. Fast read (as are all of this authors books for some reason) but I won‘t be investing time reading the rest of the series. Simply not my cuppa personally. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #19822022 @Librarybelle

Brewychock48 I feel the same way about this series. 3y
Brewychock48 My daughter loves the series 3y
Librarybelle Wow! I cannot believe it‘s been that long since this was published! 😂 3y

So for reasons my nephews Christmas books never showed up. Since they were down this weekend I took them to Build a Bear and the books store ( masks, sanitizers, the works) to make up for it. Y‘all should feel sorry foe the oldest because I‘m extremely liberal on what he can pick out to read, but it can not be anything I already own. Trust me it‘s hard. He went home with the tagged book (which I LOVE) and I went home with what is pictured.

I‘ve been hearing about this series since middle school, but I‘ve just now gotten around to starting it 😂. It was a really good book, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I also like how it doesn‘t end on a complete cliffhanger, but still leads right into the next book.

LibrarianRyan Yes it does. Beware book 4 is less than stellar but it picks back up in book five. 5y
catie_a_n @LibrarianRyan thanks for the heads up. Funny, it was the same with the mortal instruments series, book 4 was the worst. 5y
LibrarianRyan @catie_a_n that might be why I haven‘t read it yet. 😜 5y

This was one of my favorite books in middle school/high school so I‘m sorta excited to listen to the audiobook right now (also I‘m cringing a lot because it has almost every writing mistake/cliche I ever made when I first started writing so yeah.....)

This book was not quite what I was expecting. I guess I am so used to the other books of James Patterson‘s that I have read that this one took my by surprise. I liked the storyline and plot of this book and it kept me invested all the way through. I will say the only thing that I didn‘t like was that I would forget how old each of the characters were and while that is a small thing, it is also important information for the story.
🧪🧪🧪🧪🧪

LibrarianRyan I have liked all but book 4. It was painful to get through. It was like it was a have to write for contract book not want to write because I have a great idea. 5y
AsYouWish @LibrarianRyan My school library only has 1-3 and then the final book. I am reading 1-3 this weekend, but I don‘t know if I will go beyond that. I am still not sure if I fully like this series or not. I am a big James Patterson fan, but this series isn‘t my favorite thing he has written. I would still recommend it, but it probably won‘t be a reread for me. 5y

Day 8: #oldfavorite 🥰

The Maximum Ride series has been one of my favorites for years and years!! I read book 1, “The Angel Experiment,” in middle school, and I speedily read through the following 8 books as they were released! As a teen, I considered Max a beloved heroine 🤩🦅

Read this quite a few years ago, in middle school i think. And now re-reading it i remember why i loved it so much back then. The writing isn't that great, it's written exactly how the characters talk, but I still love the story and the chapters are so short, it's easy to get carried away.

I finished this book a little while ago and took it back to the library, just forgot to add that I finished it. I don't know. I thought it sounded real cool, but as I was reading it I just couldn't get into it. Maybe because it was meant for a younger crowd, that's why I couldn't? I mean it wasn't bad, but it was certainly a struggle to hold my attention.

I used my library card as a bookmark because it was handy. My two year old somehow reached my book while it was on top of the fireplace and lost my place. Good thing I remembered where I was. Lol

Has anyone else read this book? What did y'all think about it? I've never read James Patterson before and I'm really trying to branch out in my reading this year.

Ughhh this series took so much out of me. I had to stop after the third book on the series as it just bugged the heck out of me. This book was written like events just happening strung along with a mediocre plot line. I honestly don't understand why this is so beloved by some.

Honestly I loved it more than I thought I would. Especially Max, with her badass personality and total feminist attitude. The other characters are wonderful too, with scary-but-sweet Angel and Iggy. I love Iggy. Patterson writes him as blind, but without the condescending crap. Iggy is wonderful, talented, and funny. Like Toph from Avatar! Anyway, no matter who you are, this is a book for you!
