pickI read a good review for this YA book, and I‘m always open to great YA, so I immediately listened to it! The protagonist (about 10 years old) is definitely an extrovert, and it‘s told from her worldview as an extrovert. That was pretty striking to me because I‘m an introvert, and I think a lot of books I‘ve read about young girls are from an introvert perspective. So this gave me more empathy for the struggles of extroverted children.

This is a good book for middle grade kids who struggle with their feelings or with navigating change.
10-year old Bea must navigate lots of changes when her Dad moves out. Lucky for her, Miriam and her never ending jar of sour gummy bears) is there to help. Will suddenly having the sister she always wanted be as awesome as she hopes?
1–I can‘t even think of one...hmmm. Sophie Kinsella‘s books in general.
2–The List of Things that Will Not Change. Sooooooooo good. Not a tear-jerker, but relatable sadness over life changes.

pick💗💗💗💗💗 Sometimes, reading a middle grade book can be like getting a hug. This one felt like that. Bea tells the story of her changing family from age 8 to 12. She is a sweet, flawed, complex person and you will fall in love with her as a narrator. Although I don‘t think anything will top When You Reach Me, this one comes in second for me. A great addition to any school or family library.

pickThis was a really good book that explores a young girls feelings and how to deal with them. It also deals with divorce, having a gay dad, eczema, and normalizes having a therapist. Very well written and enjoyable!
pickA middle grades novel told from the perspective of a little girl named Bea. When she finds out that her parents are getting divorced, she is pretty upset but she doesn't stay that way. She realizes that sometimes life is good & sometimes life is bad. Sometimes she is worried & other times she is bursting with happiness. Stead does a great job channeling a young child's emotions and point of view. She teaches you to be accepting & open to change.
