Wow! Serious mind f*ck!
TBH, I had higher hopes for this one, as I love the psy-changeling series. I found this main character annoying, and most of the other characters were unlikable as well. The mysteries were interesting enough to get me to finish listening 🤷♀️

10 years ago Aarav's parents had one of their typical domestic disputes & his mother left the house in a rage after stealing $250k from his father's safe. She was never heard from again. Now her car, w her bones in it, have been found in the woods not far from their exclusive community & Aarav will do anything to find out what happened that night. There are so many people in their cul de sac that I made a map as I read to keep them all straight!
I'm listening to this and it's early yet but I'm totally sucked in. Still, I'm going to have to try to borrow it in printed format too so I can make a spreadsheet of all the people who live in the cul de sac! I've totally lost track of names, who is married to whom, and what their nationalities are. I guess it may not be important in the end but the author is painstakingly introducing all these people so I'm going to try to sort them out!
New book + a fancy sparkling water thing. I‘m not totally sold on this one yet, but I did make it a hundred pages in with minimal effort.
I was too tired to finish the last 60 pages last night, but as soon as I woke up this morning, I was ON IT.
Nalini Singh writes AMAZING mystery thrillers. If you like unreliable narrators, Stepford neighborhoods, and cold cases, I definitely recommend this one.
One of those books where I liked the ending I guessed better than the actual written ending. This book had me feeling ungrounded in moments due to the unreliability of the narrator and that contributed to how long it took me to get through this novel.
Forgot to take a screenshot before I returned this book back to the library.
I got about 50% of the way through the audio and had to bail.
I just didn‘t care. I didn‘t care about who killed the mom, didn‘t care why the main character was missing memories. I just didn‘t care and I didn‘t want to continue. 🤷🏻♀️
I was disappointed because I really liked the other mystery book I read by her.
An unreliable narrator, a cul-de-sac of rich people keeping secrets, and a ten-year-old disappearance. When the body shows up, we start to unravel what happened one rainy night. It's an atmospheric mystery with a narrator who does doubt in the reader.
I really enjoyed this book!
Part Memento, part Rear Window, this atmospheric mystery pulls you in w/ a decade-old murder & an unreliable narrator.
A man returns to his childhood home after an accident. The body of his mother is found after a 10 yr disappearance. The unexpected discovery shakes the Cul-de-sac community & he realizes all his neighbors have secrets.
There are some clichés in the writing, but the overall atmosphere & creepy wild of New Zealand is captivating.
I didn‘t know she wrote outside of paranormal romance and wow this is no romance! An unreliable narrator, and a small cul de sac, where everyone is in everyone‘s business which makes literally everyone a suspect in a 10 year missing person turned murder case. If you like whodunnits this one will keep you guessing
Just got back from a hike and looking forward to starting this book! #currentlyreading
I love Nalini Singh romance, but her thrillers just don‘t blow me away.In this book Nina Rai has just been found after going missing a decade prior. Unfortunately she is found dead, setting off a homicide investigation and a separate investigation by her son,the epitome of unreliable narrator. The idea is fantastic, but the book was all over the place with number of characters and the narrator‘s issues. The ending was a surprise, but not shocking.
Aarav Rai's mom went missing a decade ago. He's suffered an injury and moved back into his childhood bedroom to recuperate when his mom's bones have been found. While the police look closely at Aarav and his father, Aarav begins to look at all the members of his upscale, gated community in an attempt to discover the truth. This is a taut noir thriller full of devastating secrets and betrays.
Mmmm .... maybe horoscope! I‘ve heard about this author on quite a few BookRiot podcasts.

4 STARS - This was quite a dark and twisty read. Lots of culprits and a main character who you can get behind but don't quite trust either. Beautiful New Zealand setting too.
I'm glad I finally read a book by this Kiwi author.
