pickI watched the adaptation of this and really enjoyed the suspense and second guessing. I'm reading it for a book club and a bit hesitant as I know the plot.
However, very good writing! The whole unreliability of the characters is great, and the snippets of information we gain from secondary people is gossipy but insightful. And the screen adaptation was different enough to make this a good read :)

pickA friend gave me this book. It took me over a year to finally get to it. Wish I hadn‘t waited so long! It really is a remarkable book. I loved the story line and the suspense. I couldn‘t wait to find out what happened to Joy. I grew to despise Savannah, and still do. The only downfall was the pandemic talk at the end. I‘d prefer to leave that behind forever as I was one who didn‘t like to follow the rules that we have since found out were useless
pickI found this one on Libby, when I was looking for a #BookToScreen pick. I liked her other book/screen adaptations so I figured I would give it a shot. I really enjoyed this one as my #AudioCommute book. Now to watch the series - maybe in a few weeks, it might be too soon to jump into it. #LibbyLoan
pickThe characters in this book were so well fleshed out and enjoyable. I liked piecing together the little clues along the way. I thought the ending was very satisfying.

pickI very much enjoy the way the author unfurls the story. Whenever you think you know something she gives you more info. A peek behind the curtain of a family and its secrets. It's also a great look at how family dynamics inform perceptions and memories. This was my 1st read by her but it won't be my last. It was a very satisfying read. That ending!!
panBoring is boring. This is an absolute fail for me, and I can't believe I wasted my time reading this. The first 300 pages are just internal monolog after internal monolog of nothingness. That's a good word for this book: a book filled with nothingness. The ending was the biggest letdown. 1/5

pickAs a character study, it is well drawn and compelling. As a narrative, what starts as thriller loses some steam as the plot drags on. I‘m not sure how I feel about the twist - I wasn‘t convinced by it but also can‘t see what else Moriarty could‘ve done. The pandemic piece near the end feels a bit tacked on. The very final chapter, however, was satisfying. A soft pick - entertaining enough, if a bit over long. Borrow, not buy.
pickI have been holding off on listening to this one since I knew it was guaranteed to be a great listen- one of my favorite authors, performed by my very favorite audio performer! I knew it would be a fast listen, & at over 18 hours long, I wanted to make sure I had time to listen to it in bigger chunks! This family drama sucks you right in & I listened to this faster than I thought possible! The characters come to life with their bad choices & all!
pickI don‘t know what to expect with this book and was pleasantly surprised many times throughout when it wasn‘t predictable. There‘s a lot of sadness, but also truth & real life and dysfunctional families…
so-soThis was just okay. It was way too long and I had a hard time liking anyone but Amy. Joy was so annoying.
Some of the explanations at the end required much suspension of reality.
I would have had a better time knitting like I‘d originally planned. 🧶 😀

panThe first book by Liane Moriarty that I didn‘t enjoy. I really love the sensation of the twist reveal in her books but this one left me shrugging my shoulders. I guess I just never warmed to any of the characters. I was quite disappointed after really loving all of the other books I‘ve read by this author.
This is a page-turning drama/mystery about a “successful“ tennis family. I love this simple bold cover design! 🍎

pickHad me the whole time, lack luster ending a bit, I like this author so far
I legit binge read the second half of this today , for my neighborhood book club tonight. Whoa. Highly recommend this. I think I gasped aloud like ten times today!
#12booksof2022 This one was very easy to pick, as it was the only book that I read in April. I didn‘t like it. One reason was that the author used the Covid pandemic as a plot point and it just hit a little too close to home.
pickPretty classic Liane Moriarty, serving up just the right level of domestic drama and mystery for my end of the year brain. I love tennis, so the context of this one really worked for me. Minus a star because an edit that shaved 100 pages would have tightened this right up. You know what you‘re getting here and it mostly works.
so-soThis book was good but a slow read. I found would get caught up in a few chapters and then the pace would slow down and I‘d lose interest however, I enjoyed the ending and overall found it a decent read
pickI really enjoyed this! I loved Joy, the Mum of a family obsessed with tennis. It was overly long at times but I loved all the family drama and the writing was so easy to read. Thank you @squirrelbrain for gifting this to me. 👍

pickThis was a real page turner. Told through a series of flashback and current events it cleverly weaves together the pasts of each characters. The result being that you are swept along in their mystery of Joy Delaney‘s disappearance, never being quite sure who may be involved. Twists and turns along the way meaning I often found myself thinking about this book during the day. I‘ve enjoyed most of Moriarty‘s books but this one more than most.
so-soI wanted to love this book so much but I really just didn‘t. It started out strong and I thought the mystery was interesting. It‘s really the only thing that kept me going. It was so heavy on the tennis background and so long that I just kept losing interest. Also, the family dynamic was too much for me. It just didn‘t work, in my opinion. The twist was good, but this one was just okay for me.

panI thought that conclusion was a bit messy and the flip flopping between past and present for 60 or so chapters was not my style I will try another book by this author though
pickJust like her last couple of books, this was definitely a bit too long…. But you know what? I still always enjoy Liane‘s books with all their complicated relationship stuff, and secrets and lies. This one was no different… tons of red herrings, lots of dry humor, sibling rivalries and just family soap-opera stuff that was fun and fluffy. Not my favorite but I enjoyed it none the less. Excellent audio narration as always 💕🎧

pickSomeone recommended this book to me since I loved Big Little Lies so much, and I‘m glad I read it! I loved the writing and characters, some parts even made me laugh out loud. The mystery was enough to keep me interested throughout the whole story. The only thing is I will say that when the mystery was revealed/solved, I was a little underwhelmed (at least for one of them - because there are several!) Overall this was a great read
pickThis story is told through the eyes of several well developed characters and bystanders and evesdroppers. It delves into the psyche of a family who fiercely love one another but can not for the life of them figure out how to show it. When their mother goes missing after an introduction to a stranger the father is accused of murder. The family dysfunction kicks into high gear as they can not communicate & take sides on mom vs dad.
pickGood. Interesting take on marriage and family life. Such a intense book which keeps you guessing until the very end. Thank you #MichaelJoseph and #Penguin for inviting me to read this via #Netgalley.
