A Mirror Mended by Alix E. Harrow is book two in the Fractured Fables series. I recently read the first book and decided to take the plunge into the second novella. This time, Alix has written an adult rendition of the Snow White fairytale. I liked the alternative perspective Alix told in this story. I also think she wrote an ending that is definitely more applicable to readers.

Fun Snow White retelling in which every character (except the Huntsmen) are female. An enjoyable ride, very meta at times…. Good audio narration.

Highly enjoyable quick read that thrusts you into a world of fantasy and fairytales and adaptations.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 This was entertaining enough - definitely a palate cleanser sort of book for me. Maybe if I‘d read the first book I‘d feel more strongly? 🤷🏼‍♀️ This is my first Alix Harrow read and I‘m interested in her other books now.

I loved this retelling! There were so many good descriptions, and I laughed out loud several times. I loved the metaphors and the meta of novel writing and storytelling within the Fables and current day.

This retelling of the Snow White story has been nominated for 2023 Hugo Best Novella award. It was a low pick for me. It was enjoyable and had a lot of humour but I've been reading too many fairy-tale retellings lately.

I love this author, I'm four for four with her. Her characters are clever and interesting. This series is a Sleeping Beauty retelling and I really enjoy how it plays with language and plot.

The second of Harrow's Fractured Fables novellas. It is a retelling of Snow White where the Evil Queen is the one needing help.

Enjoyable but not extraordinary. I read it on my flight home yesterday.

I love ❤️ fairy tale retellings! This novella by Alix Harrow has everything I love in a fairy tale remix - misunderstood villains, not-so-heroic heroes, damsels that rescue themselves, and a sci-fi multiverse falling apart.

I picked up this book not realizing it was the second in a series. I will definitely pick up the first while not-so patiently waiting for the next installment. Harrow‘s writing is beautiful and her dialogue clever and funny.

Just finished the audiobook, it was so good! I love a good fairytale retelling, especially when the villain becomes one of the good people. This book has humor, friendship, romance, and adventure. It‘s just lovely and a great listen if you want something short. It‘s a great follow up to the first book. Highly recommend!

Reading while hosting a paranormal event at my favorite museum. I could read here every night.

Little outdoor reading

Quickly moved onto the second book in the series. They are short and funny. I wonder what the next fairy tale will be.

This was a fun and thought provoking twist on the classic fairytale Snow White, where the villain becomes the protagonist of the story. Very cute and fun.

This was a fun quick listen. This is book 2 of the Fractured Fables series of novellas, where a woman with a terminal illness becomes part of the fairy tales she loves. This continues her story and they should be read in order. Also finished this fun butterfly puzzle while listening! 4⭐️

I really enjoy this series and hope to see it continue. Here, Harrow moves from Sleeping Beauty stories to Snow White. I love the twist she uses in the main story. It‘s a good way to demonstrate looking at things in a different way.

I really enjoyed these books. I'm so sad I don't have another one to read.

Does the villain know they're the villian?

Not sure if I enjoyed this one as much as the first. The big life lesson Zinnia had to learn was a lesson I thought she would have learned years ago, but as I've never lived with terminal illness, I could be mistaken. I think I also just missed Charm. 😭 #fantasy #fairytales #retelling

Today's books from my husband! I've got several other Alix E. Harrow books and was quite excited to get these.

The synopsis really interested me, but by the end I was left wanting more. The basic story was enjoyable, but there were aspects of it that I liked but that seemed to be given little attention. I wasn't a big fan of Zinnia‘s either. There was just something about her I didn't like. I did enjoy the audiobook, in the sense that I enjoyed Landon‘s narration. I liked the voices she used for the various characters, as well as the tone and inflection.

A modern Sleeping Beauty ends up in the Multiverse of Snow Whites. And discovers villainy and innocence can be more than they seem.

A delightful return to this world! We‘ve got a time skip, but we get the story of the past in bits and pieces so we‘re not overwhelmed. We‘ve got character development, examinations of Snow White differences, & several laugh out loud moments. I‘m not sure how a third would work, but I want it desperately. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Second in Harrow's Fractured Fables series, this novella doesn't disappoint. It has a sweet snarkiness that I loved. I think Harrow's series would be a good fit for fans of the Wayward Children series and A Deadly Education.

Another enjoyable addition to this series, but I feel this novella wasn't quite as engaging as the first. The story starts feeling rushed early on and I would have liked a little more time to really get to know the characters.

It's still a fun adventure with great female characters who aren't afraid to take their destinies into their own hands.

This follow-up novella to A SPINDLE SPLINTERED opens up years-& almost 50 rescues of variations of Sleeping Beauties later. Zinnia hasn‘t seen or spoken to her best friends or parents in months. After a fun celebration, she looks in the mirror & instead of her own reflection, sees a darkly (evilly?) beautiful woman instead. Pulled through to a completely different fairy tale leads to new challenges & feelings. Not quite as charming but still fun!

This is out tomorrow! You're going to want it. 😊

In A Mirror Mended, Zinna finds herself somewhere stranger—the story of Snow White…and the Evil Queen is actually pretty hot?! I really enjoy the fairy tale multiverse explored here, the different retellings, and the meta nature of this series!

This was just okay for me. I had enjoyed A Spindle Splintered but this sequel fell flat. The new characters didn't feel very fleshed out, even for a novella, and some of the super meta discussion towards the end was a little much for my taste. Still a fun tongue-in-cheek feminist take on fairy tales this time with bonus Hot Evil Queen so I didn't have a bad time reading it, I just didn't love it.

Here‘s Snow White. I love the Zinnia/Evil Queen (Eva) interaction. The message I got was … take control of your life. Make better choices. Be happy.

I enjoyed Eva/Snow White‘s grimdark juxtaposition & the slow realization that they‘ve sorta switched demeanors in this version of the story.

Perfect length & narration.
