The hubs went to the P.O. Box today and I have #bookmail! This one is squarely #BlameitonLitsy (I‘m looking at you, Helen!), and I‘m excited it‘s here, since it doesn‘t seem to be out in the US. Thank goodness for Book Depository!

Love this cover! And I really love this type of book as well - that is, books about books/reading. I had a nature almanac last year that was a joy to dip into each month and by the end of the year it felt like an old friend! So I'm hoping I enjoy this one just as much.

Health warning! ⚠️DO NOT READ THIS BOOK unless you want to add 100s of books to your TBR list!

I thought I would dip in and out of this but I couldn‘t stop reading it. I‘m sure I‘ll return to it again and again though.

It recommends many books that I‘d heard of and some that I hadn‘t, a fair few ‘classics‘, even some books that are already on my TBR shelf but mostly dozens of books to add on!

Such a gorgeous book Katie! @youneverarrived - thank you so much! I‘ve been flicking through it since it arrived and I keep saying to myself ‘…just one more page…‘ but I can‘t stop admiring it. But, yes, I can see that this is going to do a lot of damage to my TBR list!

I love that the card matches perfectly too, and that Alfie put his ‘signature‘ in the card!

I do love seasonal books like this filled with descriptions of autumn and winter - at least from an English countryside POV, seasonal ideas that I have long adored from a childhood of reading Blyton, Streatfield etc - and which I don‘t actually ever experience here in Auckland! I have yet to get dewy eyed about my city‘s Spring mud and Summer humidity 😂 I need to visit Europe sometime soon 💕

This book makes a lovely gift for any reader. Each month, features quotes, beautiful illustrations and lovely short essays on recommended reads that fit the mood of the season, not just the setting or weather. It captures the ‘feeling‘ of reading in a way that speaks to how I feel about my reading life. Perfect for a moody reader! And definitely a book I will dip in and out of often…. I enjoy having an almanac next to my bed to dip into and my new one for next year has arrived!

The author is the daughter of Nicola Beauman, the founder of Persephone Books, and I‘ve spotted several of their books mentioned inside this one.
