A lot of twists make this a dark and entertaining read but the plot is so unrealistic and the main characters make such stupid decisions that my annoyance is as big as the entertainment. So. A so-so. My least favorite John Marrs so far.

Suet624 But you love Marrs so much this must be a disappointment for you 2w
BarbaraBB @Suet624 I don‘t love his thrillers as much as his speculative fiction 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2w

It was hard to find a relatable character, and that made me less invested in the story too. I would have loved to root for someone but characters were a bit flat.

This was a typical domestic thriller that felt mysterious and you tried to figure out what has happened. I would say I have read ones that has kept me more captivated.

The ending felt a bit extended and I started to loose my interest.

Multi-generational thriller full of deceit, twists, murder, and absolute craziness. WTH, OMG, and 😳😳 were my primary responses throughout and to the very last page. Will upset some and is definitely the most wild and messed up thing I have ever read, but had to finish!!

The story revolves around the seemingly perfect Hutchinson family, who, beneath their polished facade, harbor secrets and resentments that threaten to destroy them. ⬇️

suvata When a series of mysterious events occur, the family's bonds are tested, leading to a chilling climax that reveals the disturbing truth about their past. Marrs skillfully weaves a tale of suspense, exploring themes of identity, loyalty, and the lengths to which people will go to protect their loved ones. 3mo

My first John Marrs book, wasn‘t sure what I was in for other than a twisty one and it lived up to that. Was hard to put down.

A dark, somewhat horror, book in which every chapter is a member of the family speaking abd telling their story. I had read one of authors previous books and this was also a good read. If you like horror, you‘ll enjoy this book.

A great example of why you should NOT keep it in the family.

I'm maybe 1/5 of the way through, and so far, it's really slow. A lot of reviews said it started slow and then picked up, so I really hope that's the case because for now I'm a little bored and think I've figured out at least one of the upcoming twists that are raved about lol

Gissy Beautiful booksleeve😍 11mo

What a head rush! The book starts off a little slow and takes off from there. There are interviews and article excerpts between the chapters that also provide you with information and clues. Marr‘s knows how to ratchet up the tension. 4.5 stars

John Marrs has not disappointed me yet! So far I can definitely depend on him to entertain me from prologue to epilogue

A deeply engrossing page-turner with twist after crazy twist. My only grumble is the author may have gone on too long with the story, because I started piecing things together a lot earlier than maybe I should have. But that‘s ok, I loved it anyways as I have all his books

This book was super creepy and really well written. It kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns. Every time I thought I had it figured out, something else came up. I thought the story was extremely compelling and I didn‘t want to put it down.

Happy Sunday! If you haven‘t read read this yet, get on it pronto! Keep It In The Family started out as a slow burn but suddenly John Marrs blindsides you with bombshell after bombshell. Just when you think you have everything figured out and you know where this story is taking you, Marrs grabs the wheel and takes you down a road you didn‘t even know was there. This was my first John Marrs book but will certainly not be my last.

Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. This book was just the perfect dark and mysterious read I was needing for October. A couple buy a run down house sight unseen and as renovations start they find literal skeletons in the attic ...what unfolded was an atmospheric, unputdownable read that had me captivated until the very end. One of those reads that haunts your mind long after the last page is read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
