I started listening to this audiobook on 3/26/24 and finished tonight. I had to wait for holds, I was reading other books in between, but it has been a constant companion. I watched some of her films, and I enjoyed the experience thoroughly. What an accomplished woman and an inspiration. I‘m a bit melancholy I finished it. I learned so much and I appreciate her much more now than ever. Highly recommend!
I have a new love for Barbra after listening to this 48+hour audiobook. Easily the longest I‘ve ever listened to, but was never bored. She recounts nearly her entire life, starting in Brooklyn with a single mother, her father passed when she was about 18 months. From an independent young woman turning into a do-it-all genius powerhouse. I loved hearing about the causes she‘s supported and politics she‘s influenced. More amazing than I ever knew!
I loved listening to the first third of this book! Such a fascinating look behind the curtain of Broadway and Hollywood. Barbra‘s narration and sound clips were so perfect. Unfortunately I got bogged down with the political stuff 30% in and had to return it to the library because my loan was up. Don‘t know if I feel like placing another hold.

Storygraph says I have 93 unread books published in 23 😱. Pictured are 2 audio, 2 nonfiction and 2 BOTM books of that 93.

I started this in print but the book proved too heavy for bathtub reading so I switched to audio and I must say, give yourself this gift. Allow Babs to read her memoirs to you. Every song, every aside, it's just the best possible way to take in this story. Am I obsessed with Barbra Streisand? Yes. Does she deserve my adoration, undoubtedly so. She deserves yours as well.
So good! Loved on #audio as she read it and it was wonderful to hear it in her iconic voice. I loved the musical recording pieces they added into the audiobook. What an amazing creative life she has led, I am so thankful for the art that she has put into the world. She is a national treasure! #BookspinBingo Counting as two spaces since it was 48 hours long! @TheAromaofBooks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am loving this on #audio read by the author. So delightful!
#WhatsNewWednesday…..I‘m only about 10% into this audiobook and loving it…what‘s new is, once again, I‘m experiencing book synchronicity…Barbra just mentioned I‘ll Cry Tomorrow…the memoir written by Lillian Roth. I didn‘t know she was in a play with her. I loved that book and read it about a year and a half ago.
At 48hrs this is a longgg audiobook. I loved the first half; her childhood in Brooklyn in the 1950s, trying to make it on Broadway then working with Gene Kelly in big MGM musicals in the 60s. The second half was more of a slog. It‘s exhaustive and exhausting at times. Still… it‘s Barbra Streisand so what did I expect?! 😂
48hrs?! Ok Barb, let‘s do this! 😉
Bk5 of my recent #BookMail is the memoir/autobiography of the goddess herself, Barbra Streisand! One of the few to win the EGOT(Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony)she is one of the most recognisable voices in music. I grew up watching her movies, Funny Girl, Hello Dolly, What‘s Up Doc, The Way We Were etc, she‘s a total iconoclast with a nose to match. Absolute Legend!
2-20-24: My 3rd book of 2024! 970 pages of Barbra? Yes please!! I‘ve waited my whole life for this book and I‘m so thankful she took the time to tell us the truth about her life and career. To say it has been remarkable is an understatement. I took a long time to read this but really I was savoring each page and didn‘t want it to end. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars for sure! And yes, I would read this one again which is why I bought my own copy to have forever.
#LuckyInLove #FaceBodyOnCover I am reading and enjoying but been reading it for months!I set it aside for other reading deadlines & it‘s so heavy, I use a book prop with it .She is such a perfectionist she often writes about things she would have done differently in old projects.Maybe I should have done audio!😁
I learned so much about Barbra Streisand, but also felt like I learned about myself and about living life through reading her reflections and observations. What a great memoir! My favorite quote came in the epilogue: “No matter who you are, you can only eat one pastrami sandwich at a time.” :)
2-3-24: Well, it looks like I‘m about half way through this 970 page book! And I‘m loving every second of it. 💖📖 #barbrastreisand
Yes, it was long but as a fan I found most of it very interesting. The audio book is 48 hours, but Babs talks SO slowly you can easily listen at 1.5 speed. I do recommend the audio since there are “extras” and music.
I grew up listening to Babs, because my first favorite music was influenced by many hours spent with my first best friend, my Papa. This is as glorious as her incomparable voice. #mynameisbarbra #barbrastreisand #badasswomen #musician #actress #director #producer
Also included in my Spotify subscription yeah 👍 never knew ! This rate il get no work done at all 😂 and it‘ll add to finishing my monthly reading 📖 goals Yiphee ! Only book 📖 worms 🐛 get it 🥰😆
No more #nonfiction to finish this year, so the #2023readingbracket goes to Barbra Streisand! I highly recommend the audio version of her nearly 1000 page memoir; it was like listening to a friend chat for many, many hours.
If you‘re any kind of a fan of Barbra‘s, this 48-hr audiobook will breeze by, especially with film clips and song snippets! And why not as Barbra chats with you about everything…her career, favorite foods, struggles with a male-dominated film industry and finding her true love—the dashing James Brolin. So honest, inspiring and powerful!
Would love to hear your Barbra stories. I got to see her onstage in 1968 at the International Hotel in Vegas.
I finally made it to the top of the library hold list for this one. 48 hours long and 21 day loan, eek!
One of my book 📕 Christmas 🎄 presents 🎁 oh my goodness only 20‘pages in with about 11/12 hours of reading left (according to bookly ) but so worth it ! She‘s a legend and this memoir is such an easier read it just skips along, planning to have a Christmas holidays pj day and binge watch all her films 🎥 😆happy holidays fellow book 📖 worms 🐛 😘
I am a huge Streisand fan so this book didn‘t disappoint! What a phenomenal talent! I systematically worked through her movies (again) when I had Covid. I love that she is committed to various causes like climate change. So sad I never got to see her sing! I read and listened to this. It was a real treat to have her read her own book.
This book is almost like Barbra talking to you. I loved this description of movie candy.
Over 900 pages , what have I gotten myself into! Love the voice , love most of the movies (Your girl is lovely Hubbell.)How could I resist?😁
