Harbor | 
The second Lindqvist I‘ve read - the first being Let The Right One In, of course. Harbour is not a horror. Sci fi and mystery. I enjoyed it, hooked from@the start and did not feel as long as it is. Good character development, I enjoy the Swedish Archipelago setting, it‘s a good read. I do think he cheated somewhat and the end felt a bit too easy, but it didn‘t ruin it for me. Looking forward to reading another.
so-soA Halloween read about a missing girl and a nameless, watery horror terrorizing a tiny island town. Lindqvist is compared to Stephen King in eight blurbs, and although I haven't read enough King to judge the accuracy, it has a King-ish length of 500 pages. I would have enjoyed a shorter version more: the problem for me was all the flashbacks ruined the forward momentum. But the writing is excellent - it cultivates a great, haunted atmosphere.

Hoping to finish this audiobook today, but it has been slow going.
pickBeen meaning to get into this author for a while now. Wasn't disappointed at all. I have heard comparisons of him as a Swedish Stephen King which were pretty on point. There was some fantastic world and community building in this novel. I did want more backstory and explanation on the antagonist, but I tend to prefer it when things are more explained. Going to have to pick up his other novels now!
So into this book! I have so much work to do, but all I want to do is read it!

panI should really pat myself on the back for enduring the entirety of this book. Had this been my first time reading Lindqvist, I would have never returned. The book is nothing more than pointless backstory, the author felt like he couldn't decide what direction to take the book in, and by the time I finished it, I realized I didn't care about any of the characters, or if they lived or died.
90% through. The closer I get to the end, the less I care. Had I not loved other novels by this same author, I would have given up about 100 pages ago. I don't know what happened, but it seems like a severe case of ADD prevented him from a great book.
I'm not too sure how I feel about this one. I have read Handling the Undead and Let Me In, both of which are amazing. However I am 75% through with this book, and it doesn't hold the same charm that his other books provided.
so-soI'm not quite sold on Lindqvist yet. His horror is just too weird and not scary enough! I listened to this while painting the walls of a room and I have to admit I pretty much just shut down during the last hour or so of the book...

Here are some of my books with #whitespines for today's #AugustPhotoChallenge. I took this photo when the sun was going down so the lighting isn't great. Unfortunately there are a lot of books here that I haven't read yet. While pulling these books I had momentary guilt over having so many that are unread, but then 2 hours later I was checking online to see if my local B&N had specific books in stock. Apparently my guilt didn't last too long. 😂

Forgive me, I've been sleeping all day with a chest infection still😷This is definitely in a cold place, a tiny island off the coast of Norway, a man loses his daughter whilst on a trip to the islands lighthouse. I love the new wave of Scandinavian fiction, Jo Nesbo & Henning Mankell are particular favorites, & Peter Hoegs Miss Smillas Feeling For Snow is one of my go to books.
