A heartwarming story about a mother and daughter in wartime England and the power of the books that bring them together. Emma Taylor needs to find a job to support herself and her daughter. She is a single mom and there is a war going on and Germany is bombing England. She signs up to send her daughter, Olivia, to the countryside to escape the bombs.

A can‘t-put-down one and another GEM by Ms. Martin that will have you shedding happy tears along with the sad ones. 5/5

Madeline Martin has done it again with “The Booklovers‘ Library” —a moving story that blends the magic of books with the struggles of wartime England. This book had me hooked from the very beginning, following the journey of Emma, a widow in Nottingham, as she navigates the difficulties of finding work, sending her daughter to safety, and discovering the power of community in the darkest of times. LOVED IT!

I am a sucker for books about books, libraries & bookstores so this one seemed like something I would enjoy. And I did, but will say this was not a very memorable reading experience. It‘s a perfectly lovely book about mothers & daughters, unlikely friendships, & the power of literature to help you through horrific times. But I think I‘m over the current trend of books about books, libraries, bookstores, and spunky heroines making it through WWII.

A woman gets a job at a lending library in Nottingham right as the war is beginning. There are a lot of books in this general trope and I think this one is worth reading.
