I wasn't expecting a lot but this turned out to be a nice little read. It's got a former psychiatric hospital converted into student accommodation as a base, alongside spooky goings-on (night trips into the old part of the building which still retain the cells & operating theatre of the old place, disappearing emails, automatic writing, the MC having visions of the Warden of the asylum, etc). (Continued)

OutsmartYourShelf Teenage me would have loved it, adult me likes it too. It's eerie rather than scary & the photographs add to the atmosphere. I wasn't keen on the budding romance between Daniel & Abby, but that's just me. Definitely reading the next one. 4🌟

Pickpick

Reading other reviews, I didn't have very high expectations. Given my low expectations, I think that allowed me to enjoy this book more than other people.
I thought it was enjoyable, a quick read, and entertaining enough for me. Like others have said, I didn't think it was scary enough to be considered a horror book, but I think it could be scary for a much younger audience. With that said, I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series.

I had a hard time deciding if this book was a So-So or a Pick. I loved the story concept but at the same time I struggled with keeping all the characters straight in the storyline. I wish the story was more focused. It was also slow in some parts.

This was an extremely ambitious book, and if it had cut down on the subplots it would have been able to spend more time on the main story. Dan finding true friends was a great theme to add to Asylum, but the character relationships were rushed. The characterization was also inconsistent throughout the story. Not a series I will continue.

I found this book just ok. It was disjointed and hard to follow at times. The alluding to a labia relationship was distracting and felt like it was added as an afterthought.

The story was good but had potential to be very creepy. More detailed and just a little slower pace would have made this better for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

It‘s snowy and grey, but I have nowhere else to be. A perfect Side H on repeat and #lmpbc afternoon.
