Spiral: A curve which emanates from a point, moving farther away as it revolves around the point.

Clare-Dragonfly Spiral is an obscure word? 2mo
tournevis @Clare-Dragonfly I guess? It's on Nikolas Tower's list. 🤷 2mo

#RedRoseSeptember #day9 #NeverForget The MC in this adult fantasy trilogy, Mia Corvere, is taught as a child to “Never Flinch, Never Fear & Never Forget” It‘s the mantra that drives her to become a Blade Of The Red Church, a gladiatii & the most famous assassin in Itreyan history, causing a path of destruction in the name of revenge that takes down the whole republic. This is my UK signed hardcover that came today, now I just need my US hardcover!

Cinfhen Ohhh!! Nice 👍🏽 3mo

#AyUpAugust #Day9 #IPredictARiot In the year that this book covers, August 1969 to August 1970, there were a few riots, a lot of protests and a ton of arrests with a few deaths as well. People don‘t realise just how close America came to a full revolution, there was a lot of people very unhappy about Vietnam, about civil rights & the corruption of high up government officials. People power made a lot of changes happen in those days.

squirrelbrain Sounds really interesting! You come up with some great ideas for these challenges! 4mo
Bkwurm Sounds like a book that wouldn‘t be out of place on a 2019-2020 reading list. 4mo
Cinfhen I‘ve already stacked this book too!!and I‘m pretty sure it was from one of your previous posts 😘 4mo

#AugustABC #Day9 #Innocence A pig named Wilbur may be one of the most innocent and sweet characters I‘ve ever had the pleasure to read. This was one of my favourite books growing up so of course it was one of the first middle grade books I bought for my granddaughter. Though I loved the character of Charlotte, she wasn‘t enough to overcome my arachnophobia unfortunately! If you haven‘t bought your little bookworms this book yet, do them a favour.

Leftcoastzen What a cute cover! 4mo

Prochain Episode | Hubert Aquin
post image

TNG 6.20 #TheChase: a cat and mouse game searching for clues to a message left in the galactic DNA, that aimed to explain (kinda lamely) why all Star Trek aliens are humanoids. It‘s fun but not as profound as it hoped it would be and features the 1st female Cardassian Gul (yé). The best parts are Picard and his mentor discussing archeology. It features my favorite ST prop of all time, the Kurlan naiskos.

tournevis BOOK: My favorite literary chase is Hubert Aquin's Prochain épisode, a schizoid and quixotic pursuit of two eternal enemies, Francos and Anglos, with a Kafka hommage thrown in. Aquin wrote it while he was interned in a psychiatric hospital and drugged up to his gills. Best first line in any book ever: “Cuba coule en flammes au milieu du lac Léman pendant que je descends au fond des choses.“ (edited) 7mo
Megabooks What‘s the English translation of the first line. The book sounds fascinating! 7mo
tournevis @Megabooks "Cuba is sinking in flames in the middle of Lac Léman while I descend to the bottom of things." Here is a link to the best edition of the excellent translation : Next Episode https://www.amazon.ca/dp/0771094337/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Vaw1CbQ6JHN4V 7mo

#MarchIntoThe70s #Day9 #Barracuda
Vostok has went way off the rails into alternate dimensions, aliens, and worst of all lots and lots of math. But before it went all crazy, it was a really entertaining lost world creature book. Like when their small submarine, the barracuda, gets swallowed whole by a giant prehistoric eel.
