This song has all the pomp and circumstance of a celebration fanfare! An magical scene from the first HP movie!

HerDarkHuntress1 We need to have a hp inspired swap! (edited) 1mo
CrowCAH @HerDarkHuntress1 I think you should host it; I bet you‘ll get a lot of participation! 1mo
HerDarkHuntress1 @CrowCAH I‘m so new to this app that I‘m not even sure what all goes on with a swap. I keep seeing them but I never see the start of one. What are the rules? 1mo
See All 7 Comments
CrowCAH @HerDarkHuntress1 I‘ve never hosted a swap, thought I‘d it. But I think @LibrarianRyan might be able to answer this better, as #MakerSwap is theirs. 1mo
LibrarianRyan @HerDarkHuntress1 ello. There is usually a few different HP swaps throughout the year. They have been hosted by different people each time (I believe, but can not honestly remember). All most all hosts abide by the @LitsySwaps rules, and then add their own as needed by the swap. Right before Halloween i did a primer of sorts for new Littens on Swap etiquette. Hit the #swapprimer hashtag and if you have any questions just ask 1mo
HerDarkHuntress1 Thank you so much! I‘m on one device reading up on it now while on another wanting to say thank you before I‘m sucked in! So thank you for the help @librarianRyan and @CrowCAH 1mo

#SoaringScores #EntryIntoTheGreatHall I've only read excerpts of this, but I definitely read about Heorot, the great hall where Beowulf feasted before fighting Grendel.

CrowCAH An epic tale not often featured; good choice! 1mo

I read this a few years ago when I was studying Spanish - I sure couldn‘t manage it now!

Cinfhen Impressive 1mo
Cinfhen I couldn‘t read it in English...I bailed 😝 1mo
RachelO Wow! There‘s a lot of words in that! 1mo

Sace Sí se puede! 1mo
squirrelbrain It wasn‘t that bad @Cinfhen @RachelO ... I‘d already read it in English and all of the characters‘ names are the same. In many languages they change the names to be more meaningful in that language, but in Spanish they stay the same. What do they do in German @julesg? 1mo
Kimberlone I have had this on my shelf for so long and still haven‘t gotten up the will to try and read it. I‘m pretty proficient in Spanish and can carry on conversations pretty well, but I‘ve never read more than a short story in Spanish so a whole book is intimidating. The good this is I know the HP story so well that at least I would be able keep the plot straight. 1mo
squirrelbrain Give it a go @Kimberlone - it‘s really quite easy compared to many Spanish texts. I‘m sure you‘ll enjoy it! 1mo
squirrelbrain @Sace 😁👍 1mo
Kimberlone @squirrelbrain thanks for the encouragement! I have a vacation planned to South America and I might bring it with me 1mo
Sace Another good creepy read is Aura. Pretty much all present tense and quite short. 1mo
julesG Impressive! Yes, they've changed some names, ainly of minor characters, and some of the places. Also, a few of the spells are different. 1mo
CrowCAH Nice foreign language copy! I have a couple German P&P editions courtesy of @Sarah83 ! 1mo
Sarah83 😘😘😘 1mo
inthegreensandblues Nice! I recently bought a French copy in Brussels because I want to relearn my college French one of these days and thought it would be fun practice! 1mo

The #literarycrew read this one earlier this year - a stately hall in England, secrets that carry through the generations, and two wars span this novel. There is sorrow and a sense of haunting memories in this one. #EntryIntoTheGreatHall #SoaringScores

Cinfhen Did the crew enjoy??? 1mo
Librarybelle @Cinfhen Yes! There were some slow parts, but it was an overall pick from the group. 🙂 1mo
jillrhudy You had me at “A stately hall in England“ of course! 1mo

Mishu94 Should I read it? 1mo
CrowCAH Sounds good! I like it when the house and environment become a character themselves! 1mo
Librarybelle @Mishu94 I would recommend it! 1mo
Librarybelle @jillrhudy @CrowCAH Gotta love the stately homes! 1mo
MellieAntoinette Excited to hear about our next read! 1mo
Librarybelle @MellieAntoinette I‘m hoping to pull some suggestions together tomorrow and post! 😁 1mo

Wolf Hall | Hilary Mantel
post image

#SoaringScores #EntryIntoTheGreatHall #BookishConfession I‘ve never read Hilary Mantel🙈where should I start?!!! Are they all #chunksters ?!?! #PageCountPhobia

SamAnne I‘m wondering too! Recently picked up a couple of her books used. I‘m thinking of starting with Wolf Hall. Other suggestions? (edited) 1mo
merelybookish I've only read Wolf Hall. I liked it. It's historical fiction with a slant 1mo
BarbaraBB I liked Wolf Hall too. Aftereards I started its sequel, Bring up the Bodies, but I couldn‘t get into that one. I‘ll try again, one day.... 😉 1mo

Kalalalatja I have read Wolf Hall, and I wasn‘t impressed 😅 and it is a bit chunky 1mo
CarolynM I loved Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies. I'm not looking forward to the last one in the trilogy though. That's the problem with fictionalised history - you know where it's going. 1mo
Centique I loved them too but then I love this period of history and I‘m hungry to get a good feel for that world. It will be either love or hate for you I think. So #borrowdontbuy 1mo
Cinfhen Thanks for all the feedback @merelybookish @BarbaraBB @Kalalalatja @Centique I think the #BorrowNotBuy is a good idea 💡 and I hear ya @CarolynM although I‘m fuzzy with all my world history 🤪 1mo
Cinfhen @SamAnne seems like Wolf Hall is a good place to start!!! 1mo
Hooked_on_books I like audio for chunksters, so maybe that‘s a way to go. 1mo
Cinfhen I‘ll look into that option @Hooked_on_books Good suggestion 😌 1mo
jillrhudy The third book in the trilogy is coming out March 3 with a 300,000 first printing from Henry Holt & Co. 1mo
RealBooks4ever Loved Wolf Hall. It's not a tough read, never mind the page count. 💜 1mo
CrowCAH I enjoyed the PBS miniseries based on this book! 1mo
TrishB Love these ❤️ I can‘t wait for the 3rd! 1mo
vivastory I LOVED the following (& it's not a chunkster) 1mo
Reviewsbylola You shouldn‘t start. 😆 1mo
Reviewsbylola Granted, I‘ve only read the first 150 pages of WH but never again!! 1mo
Reviewsbylola I do think Mantel is very talented, but I don‘t have the energy or headspace that her books require. (edited) 1mo
Cinfhen Hahaha @Reviewsbylola I think I may be in the same boat as you!!! Head space is KEY these days!!! 1mo
BkClubCare I loved the style of Wolf Hall - history truly as it lives and breathes. #SuperRooster 1mo
Cinfhen I think I‘m gonna finally give this book a try @BkClubCare 1mo
BkClubCare @Cinfhen - the audiobook was pretty good. I think it added to the drama and narrator made it easy to discern characters. 4w
Cinfhen I‘m always looking for audio suggestions so that‘s really good to know. Thanks 😊 4w
