PBS: Behind the Screen | Laurence Jarvik

I was on Kanopy recently and I discovered that PBS documentaries are on there. I typed PBS into the search function and they have so many things from PBS. This is just some of the things from PBS they have but I was sitting here scrolling through all of this and it goes on forever. I never reached the end of the results. I‘m glad I discovered this because I love PBS. PBS has a Roku app too. My mom cut off the cable so I can only stream PBS now.

This was utter perfection. I absolutely adored the conversations between Nimoy and Spock. I love that Spock was almost this alter ego he could talk to in his head about all sorts of things. I don‘t know about everyone else, but as far as I‘m concerned, it‘s not possible to think of Spock without thinking of Nimoy. Through Spock, Nimoy will live forever. What a beautiful human being. What a beautiful book.

I don‘t know about anyone else, but the first thing I think of when I hear Spock, is Nimoy as Spock. All other actors who play Spock are held up against Nimoy as the ideal. Nimoy will live forever through Spock, and that‘s pretty awesome.

AnnCrystal Absolutely fact... truthfully, I never watched Star Track, my older brother was the fan. Yet I know Leonard Nimoy because of Spock 🖖✨🛸✨💝. 2d
GingerAntics @AnnCrystal I think in the 50s and 60s, people knew him for all sorts of things (he did westerns and tons of things), he even did other things in the 70s, but kids in the 80s, 90s, and beyond, he IS Spock. He‘s not separable from Spock, no matter who plays him now. I love that for him. It‘s just so beautiful. I guess I get where in the early 2000s he wasn‘t so sure. 2d

I‘m feeling very much led in this direction this afternoon. I got quite a laugh out of the mental image of Spock as midwife by @Bookwomble . I don‘t think I‘ll be getting that out of my head anytime soon. Also, I have never been more excited for a book read by the author… sorry Wil.

GingerAntics @Ruthiella I don‘t know who made it, but it‘s utter perfection. I had to share it. 2d

I loved the show & hearing the backstory as well as how the cast talks about the characters, the stories & each other only made me love it more.

Thanks for the #BAndBDay (Book and Beverage Day) tag @TheSpineView 🤗

I woke up earlier with a bad headache & now I‘m tucked in on the couch with green tea and the Pride and Prejudice 1995 series on. Hoping the tea & Excedrin (& Colin Firth) work their magic so I can continue with this book that needs to go back to the library soon, but if not there‘s nothing wrong with a BAndB & PAndP Day! 😉

Ruthiella The medicinal properties of Colin Firth! 👍 Hope you feel better soon. ❤️ 1w

"It also calls for coconut milk, but I didn't have that, so I improvised and substituted Pina colada mix."

I live in a small (tiny) town, so I do my fair share of substituting when it comes to recipes, but I don't think I'd ever go that route lol

Began this memoir as a Phantom of the Opera and Hello Dolly! super-fan, ended it as a Michael Crawford superfan.

I really enjoyed Pointer's knowledgeable critiques and reviews of the Great Detective's appearances off the page and on the boards, the silver screen, the airways, the idiot box, and vinyl.

It could have been a dense info-dump, but Pointer cleverly distilled that into the 80-odd pages of Catalogue at the back of the book, delivering 116 initial pages of deftly handled history and anecdotes.
On the strength of this, I've ordered a copy of his 👇

Bookwomble ... "The Sherlock Holmes Files", which, by the same publisher within a year of the present book, I trust doesn't do much recapping of this material.
David & Charles published a series of Holmesian studies in the early to mid '70s, which all seem to be fairly highly rated. It would be a pleasant thing were some other titles to appear on my shelves ?:
