Sept 17: I'm probably SUPER BEHIND on my reading goals so will try to read more in the next few weeks. I wasn't really sure what I was in the mood for next but this one's been on my #tbr for a bit so figured why not start it now. Today‘s book haul. I went into the bookstore with nothing in mind and walked out with this glorious stack! A banned book anthology Not That Bad edited by Roxanne Gay. Mark Twain‘s Roughing It (am I not American 🇺🇸?). A Caribbean memoir. A Central African Lincoln In the Bardo. Mary Roach‘s new masterpiece (I would read a phone book by her). And a cookie cookbook!!!! 💗📚#TBR

I put this book as aSo-So for various reasons: somewhat dated; plot very convoluted; too many “bad “people especially men, after the protagonist for various reasons.Annie,the protagonist is very likable, and there were definitely witty moments, but all in all it was just OK. #AnArtLoversMystery #TBR #StoryGraph #2025OffMyShelfReadingChallenge #bookpublishedover10yearsago

Before this panel I hadn‘t heard of either of these books or of Nnedi at all. I am so glad I got to hear these two vibe on stage! They talked about their writing processes and it was all something that I didn‘t know I needed to hear. First panel of the day and it was an absolute banger! Finished two last month & eager to read these. They have been on my kindle forever!

It was down to the wire but I got my September #bookspinbingo list posted in time 😮‍💨😁! I‘m almost done with both Worst Case Scenario and One Big Happy Family so I had to push those over into the new month. Beyond that I really want to make a dent in my #botm books so I can HOPEFULLY 🤞 win the challenge and get a book sleeve by the end of the year! I also want to read The Long Walk before I see the movie adaptation. #tbr #bookspin
