This is a beautifully written book about one woman's life in Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War, though it is quite slow paced at the beginning.

My daughter found this #VMC edition for me last year, and I'm glad I finished it before my upcoming trip to Barcelona. I hope I'll have time to visit the Plaça del Diamant, where the book is set.

This was my 4th book finished for the #JoyousJanuary readathon. I didn't quite meet all my goals but am still happy with the result. Thanks @Andrew65 for hosting!

Jess_Read_This @catebutler I found her to be such a comforting read this summer. It was just what I needed to read about children being children, a bit of village gossip and drama, plays being performed, young love, and a couple or two getting engaged in the end. 4y

5⭐️ I found this to be the perfect summer read. Wonderfully paired with summer berries, laying under a ceiling fan escaping to Barsetshire on a humid July day. I count myself amongst Mrs. Brandon‘s admirers now.

I made the mistake of reading the news and checking in on Twitter this morning. This sentence spoke to me as I realized, I too, am finding a bit of peace in my morning coffee and book. Along with a giant raspberry pastry.

Nightingale Wood: A Novel | Stella Gibbons

I read this whilst my iPad was broken. This is a charming retelling of Cinderella but with a bit of a twist. This isn‘t quite as good as her most famous book cold comfort farm but the telltale wit is here. All of these characters have flaws and are played with but it just ends up being such a riot. I liked and laughed at all the characters, every single one. #vmc
