Recently read books for my reading Black authors voices challenge - mostly womens. All very good!

This was a really interesting way to examine the impact of the Beatles and James Bond on British and global culture. Some of the connections Higgs draws feel a teeny bit tenuous, but overall I really enjoyed the book. There are spoilers for many of the Bond films, so if you‘re not a spoiler fan you may want to watch at least No Time to Die before reading this.

In all that I‘ve read about the Beatles, this is the first I‘m hearing that the Maharishi had a degree in physics!

Also, this book is making me want to rewatch Get Back.

It's hard to find two things I love more in pop culture than The Beatles and James Bond, so imagine my excitement when I come across thos book that bri gs the both together. I can't wait to dive in.

Finish The Art of Cruelty and start Braiding Sweetgrass

I‘m currently reading Lessons in Chemistry and want to finish that, and start Acting Class.

I just realized my “current reads” make me look all cultured, almost a throwback to my school days. But really, it‘s because I‘m in between fun reads and these are the ongoing and/or long-languishing books I can‘t seem to finish! 🤣 I started VF in September, I think, and DQ for the #PicklesChallenge in…July? I‘m 75% on the former and maybe 1/3 on the latter, and Middlemarch is chapter-a-day with #PemberLittens
