Book and dinner: I threw a few handfuls of spinach into my usual red sauce with turkey pasta, and it turned out so good!

I'm almost done with book one in the Farseer trilogy. I definitely liked the Liveship trilogy better because of the pacing & POVs, but this is still a great read.

First time re-reading this series. I loved it all when I first read it and reread is the same. This time though I'm listening to the audiobook read impressively by Paul Boehmer

Yes, I cried again.

I'm basically reading the Realm of the Elderlings series in Star Wars order. I breezed through books 4, 5, & 6, and now I'm going back to 1, 2, & 3! I LOVED The Liveship Traders, but I feel like I would've loved Ship of Destiny *that* much more if I'd gotten the references to the elderling cities. Oh no, is that an excuse to go back and re-read it?! Darn!

Repost for @PuddleJumper

This is the first planned reading schedule for #RealmofElderlings

I‘m giving 2 months for books over 500 pages which is pretty much all of them! This means it will take about 2 years to get through the entire series.

We'll be starting with Assassin's Apprentice in February, there will be a buddy read and readalong on SG and I'll post start, mid, end posts on Litsy

It could change depending on how people find it.

Luke-XVX Tempting ! 1mo
PuddleJumper @Luke-XVX Join us! See how many times we collectively spell assassin wrong 😂

All the SG will remain open/visible. Even if you don't read along, I think you can still see the comments

Luke-XVX I did read Ship of Magic last year so I could feasibly skip that one. I do have Storygraph but I haven‘t used it enough to “get” it (edited) 1mo
PuddleJumper @Luke-XVX You don't need to use SG. I'll post things here as well which will hopefully include discussions

I like the SG features because they are aimed more towards that kind of thing
1mo
Luke-XVX Count me in! I haven‘t done an online Bookclub before 1mo
Ruthiella Awesome. I appreciate the pacing as well! These are long books and there‘s a lot to take in with each one. 1mo
PuddleJumper @Luke-XVX Great! I'll add you to the list 1mo
PuddleJumper @Ruthiella Yeah, a month would be pushing it for a lot of people and you can't rush these ones. I remember them being packed with stuff 1mo
majkia Looking forward to a revisit. It'll be traumatic.... 1mo
PuddleJumper @majkia So very traumatic. I think I cry a lot during the first book 1mo
wanderinglynn Yay! Can‘t wait! 1mo
Enchanted_Bibliophile I've been meaning to read these books forever, so this is the perfect kick I need to get it done! I've never done a BC on SG, but am excited to learn 1mo
Larkken Ive always wanted to try SG for buddy reads and I've never finished all of these! I may join 1mo
Laughterhp I‘ve only read the first book and I remember really loving it. I‘ll give it a try again this year since I‘ve been better recently about continuing series! 1mo
PuddleJumper @Enchanted_Bibliophile I like that SG is geared towards discussion and commentary. Buddy reads are my favourite because i can react as I read 1mo
PuddleJumper @Larkken I really like the buddy reads on SG. I like seeing people's comments as they read 1mo
PuddleJumper @Laughterhp I'm more likely to read if I can talk about things with people. I remember having a lot of feelings about these books 🤣 1mo
kelli7990 I want to join. It‘s been a long time since I‘ve read a fantasy series. The last fantasy series I read was A Song Of Ice And Fire but I read it with The Catchup Book Club on social media. I‘ve heard that these books are really good and I want to see what the hype is all about. I‘ve never buddy read a book series on Litsy before. 1mo
PuddleJumper @kelli7990 I definitely think it helps reading with other people. I love the series but they can be a bit intimidating, they are so long! 1mo
daena May I join in! This sounds wonderful. 1mo
PuddleJumper @daena Of course! I'll add you to the list and if you're on SG the book club is here https://app.thestorygraph.com/book_clubs/29999d93-0689-409b-8291-72dbf71334bf 1mo
daena Great. I just joined the SG group. 1mo

Would anyone be interested in a Realm of Elderlings readalong/monthly buddy read? I haven't read the last few series and I want to and I also want to obsess over them

Also, which series would you start with? Because I started with the Liveship Traders and then read the Farseer trilogy. I think Liveship Traders is easier to get into

wanderinglynn 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️ I‘m flexible on order—whatever everyone else wants to do is good with me. 1mo
Ruthiella I might jump in when you get to the Rainwild books. I‘ve been reading in order of publication sloooowly and hope to read the last Tawny Man book next month. 1mo

PuddleJumper @Ruthiella Rainwild books will be completely new to me, i think I got up to the Tawny Man trilogy. Jump in whenever, if there's interest I'll post things on here and Storygraph. You can join in the Storygraph stuff even after the date, I think. I'll check 1mo
Ruthiella I have an account with StoryGraph but haven‘t checked it in years. I need to update it. 1mo
PuddleJumper @wanderlynn @Ruthiella I've created a book club on Storygraph just to keep things organised, no clue how it works really 😅 https://app.thestorygraph.com/book_clubs/29999d93-0689-409b-8291-72dbf71334bf 1mo
wanderinglynn I joined on StoryGraph. I‘ve created a reading challenge on SG but not a book club. So we‘ll learn together how it works! 1mo
PuddleJumper @wanderinglynn ❤️ Brilliant! I like all the new features on SG, I've just not figured them out yet. I go for everything and see what works lol 1mo
Fortifiedbybooks Count me in! I've had these books on my TBR for years! 1mo
PuddleJumper @Fortifiedbybooks ❤️❤️ Ace. They are such good books! I hope you enjoy them 1mo

Okay I liked the first book in this series, this one I really didn‘t, with all that happened to the main character it was a little over the top. I tried, I really tried to get to “like” but I just couldn‘t. I know this is a popular series and I‘m trying to figure out why. the abuse is over the top and there should be some type of goal…if he can‘t get to where he needs to go. I think my biggest issue is, if he‘s an assassin how is he always caught?

CoverToCoverGirl All valid questions. I‘m not a fantasy reader at all but these came highly recommended to me. I loved them and have read the first three books. Fitz‘s struggle is very real, ugly and harsh. To me it had a very medieval atmosphere, and the Wit and the Skill were just plausible enough for me buy into the storyline and I especially loved Nighteyes. As readers we can‘t like everything, even if it is a popular series. 2mo
Ddzmini @CoverToCoverGirl yes I agree and I have to say there have been time were I go back and reread a book and get a whole different feel so I‘m not getting rid of the books it‘s just I‘ll have to reread them in the future and see if I change my mind on it 2mo

It‘s a good summer to revisit some old favorite authors for me.

I didn‘t love Royal Assassin quite as much as I enjoyed Assassin‘s Apprentice. I think it suffered from a little bit of second book syndrome. And Fitz got on my nerves. But I still enjoyed the atmosphere and setting. Fitz is still young here so there‘s room for development. I‘m still going to continue the series but I‘m going to take a break to start book three with a fresh perspective.
